It schould be possible to use an ordinary mixer board LED lamp. The FAS Link provides enough power. Just the pinout of the link plug would need to be determined. This will probably void your warranty, though.

    Underwhelming Live Recordings

Fair point. My personal experience is that open air gigs usually were a lot easier to mix and record. But that's just me and I'm not a professional sound engineer.
  3. ChristThePhone

    Underwhelming Live Recordings

I think there's a reason why professional live recordings of rock music never happen indoors. The amount of adjustments it takes on every level to accommodate to the room simply renders the recording less usable. At minimum it requires heavy EQing.

    Wish 2 pitch blocks please

Ok, let's leave out CPU power. Still, latency will be added only to FX signal of the pitch block. This matters in case of a virtual capo where you run the FX level at 100% but not necessarily to a pitch block used for harmonies or chorus like effects. That's why I'd say the latency added by a...

    Wish New Years Looper wishes

The AX8 allowed to quantize a loop to a number of beats. Don't understand why this was missed on the FM9. The way it is I have to manually calculate the loop length based on the BPM.
  10. ChristThePhone

    Wish 2 pitch blocks please

A virtual carpo would definitely be very latency sensitive and require the full power but as I view it for pretty much all harmonies and chorus effects a higher latency wouldn't be such a big deal so maybe there could be a compromise of having the 2nd pitch block being operated with higher latency ?

There's no real rule. Just avoid clipping. Usually I try to run the levels on all connections as hot as possible to avoid having to boost signals on any input which would introduce additional noise. Then adjust the volume at the end which is would be my active monitor, However, using the AX8...

    AX-8 and FM9...

Exactly. You don't want to mess with editing presets during soundcheck so make sure they're properly levelled at home then adjust the volume at the venue using the output knobs. Personally I don't use the amp controls at all as I do edit in AX8-Edit exclusively. YMMV
  16. ChristThePhone

    AX-8 and FM9...

they're all equivalent. the first two can cause digital clipping when you run out of headroom while the volume knob can cause analog clipping. If all presets used are levelled I use the volume knob to adjust the feed to the FOH mix.

    From AX8 to FM9

I tried to convert a couple of my presets from my AX8 to the FM9 and it turned out to be quite complex. Forget about copying amp settings, even the factory IRs sound different to my ears. It boils down to tedious A/B-ing and adjusting amp dials as well as trying different IRs. In the end I...

Mainly rock/hard rock from the 70s and 80s. That works pretty well with a simple Plexi + TS preset as long as there's not to much gain involved. The darker Plexi sound (compared to the JCM800) helps a lot taming the feedback. I was informed on short notice that the band wanted to play some...

The stuff you pick up on via the power line are surges and spikes originating in other (heavy) machinery connected to the same power grid. Bad Company - Can't Get Enough

Double tracking causes every single note to individually differ in timing and pitch. One delay and pitch block is not going to do that. They will generate a stereo spread if panned but that's not the same. A chorus is basically a first attempt to add a delay and using an LFO to modulate the pitch.

No, SPDIF is hardwired to copy out 1 so out 2 is your only way or run dual mono via out 1. For recording I tend to not have any post amp/cab FX but just record the DI and the dry amp/cab sound, then add FX via VST plugins.
