    Three Amp Blocks?

I think it would also be nice just from the standpoint of giving the user as much freedom as possible.

Post Your Axe-Fx III Rigs Here!

Well, i know diffusion is available, but on the Axe-FX II XL, it just didn't sound as good. I don't have enough technical knowledge to tell your why, but if you've ever used a PCM 70, 80, or 81, they have this rich sound that the Axe just can't duplicate. Hopefully the III has bridged the gap.

Post Your Axe-Fx III Rigs Here!

This might be kind of an oddly-specific question, but have they improved the sound of the diffusion in the delay blocks? I ended up keeping my PCM 81 because the Axe-FX II just could not imitate those nice thick, smeary delay sounds the Lexicons do so well.

Any FC release time info ?

With all due respect, that's not the issue. In that case, they could have just kept mum about the whole thing a little longer, until the FCs were closer to completion. Had they done that, no one would have been upset at all, because they wouldn't have known about it. I think people ought to be...

    Presenting... The Axe-Fx III

Random question, but can anyone tell me if there is a MK II. Tone Bender in the Axe III?

Any FC release time info ?

I guess they'd be able to implement this in the future via a firmware update if there were enough demand, *cough cough*
  9. Walt's Frozen Head

Any FC release time info ?

That would work, so long as it loads automatically with the preset. Additional menu diving is not what you need on a footswitch, IMO.
  10. Walt's Frozen Head

Any FC release time info ?

It'd really be nice if you could set it up such that each preset had its own layout. Some presets you might use 8 scenes, and others you might only use a couple, so you don't necessarily want the same number of switched dedicated to scenes. Likewise, there may be IA switches you use with one...

12 Pitch Types in the Axefx 3

I'm excited about Quad Shift. Sounds similar to the "Quad>Hall" algorithm on the Lexicon PCM 80/81 which is good for so many crazy special effects. With this and the plex delay block, I'm hopeful that Fractal is really going to start putting some emphasis on expanding the effects flexibility of...

    Axe-Fx III Wish List

2U Eventides have this feature. You can save a group of modules as a "supermodule" and use it later wherever you want to. I think it would be useful.

Is it me or is the Axe fx 3 aesthetically unpleasing?

Only thing I'm not crazy about is the new logo. I'd rather have had a little more space for metering.

Who's Planning To "Eventually" Move Up To The III?

Hell yes, just sold my PCM 81 and my XL+ is listed. I'm gonna tuck this thing into bed with me at night.

    Axe-Fx III Wish List

I was disappointed to see that the new footcontrollers were so small, but that actually might make them workable,.

Axe III announcement is epic! But have you seen.....??.

It just came to me one day. I think I had just read that conspiracy theory about Walt Disney being cryogenically frozen somewhere underground.

Axe FX III as a Platform

This may be true for amps, but not necessarily for effects. You could build your own effect modules without needing to know anything about circuits or components. You just tell it what to do with the incoming audio.

Axe III announcement is epic! But have you seen.....??.

I may be wrong, but I think this is mostly intended for studio use. It appears the individual processor cores are not really any faster than the DSPs of the H8000, and there is no monolithic mode, so your ability to craft bigger algorithms for one instrument is not really very much greater than...

Post Axe-Fx III Launch ... Amp Model Requests

Any digital device has to load the preset. I have an H8000, I'm familiar with them, and they're not "insanely slow." They are slower than the Axe-FX, but the beauty of having something as powerful as the Axe-FX III or an Eventide is that you can treat each preset like a virtual rig, and turn...

Post Axe-Fx III Launch ... Amp Model Requests

I know it's probably asking for too much, but if you could "open up" blocks like the plex delay, for instances, and have some degree of control over things like, the location of high/low cut filters, diffusion, pitch shifting (for detune-type effects), etc. within the algorithm, and then maybe...

Post Axe-Fx III Launch ... Amp Model Requests

THIS. I'd love to see the Axe-FX III really challenge Eventide in the open effect platform category. Obviously, it doesn't need to be literally as open as Vsig, but maybe a couple new blocks and the option of more granular control in existing blocks would be awesome. Maybe it could be something...

Where to learn about MultiDelay and it's different modes?

For the record, plex detune in the Axe is probably my favorite delay implementation ever. Super lush, with many shades and timbres.

Vai Rig Rundown from Vai Academy

I know you're being sarcastic, but I would reply that it probably doesn't matter as much as you might think. The wood can only affect the vibration of the strings to the extent that they are coupled, and they are only coupled in two places: at the nut, and the bridge. I would further say that...

Vai Rig Rundown from Vai Academy

It's kind of funny to me how much more cutting-edge Nordegg is than Vai, despite being older and despite Vai's earlier reputation as being a pretty modern player--fancy Jem guitars, rackmount equipment, digital effects, etc.

    Simulating pickups with EQ...

Could you be a little more specific as to what exactly you're trying to accomplish? It might be doable, and it might not, depending on what you're looking to do. If, for instance, you wanted to take one humbucker and make it sound more like another humbucker, you could do it reasonably well. If...

Boosting low/medium gain amps for rock/metal tones?

Agreed. The Marshalls are a little "too much," to my ears. The Bassman seems to breakup in a somewhat similar way, but it has a smoother, more pleasing top end, while still being bright overall. The Marshalls are a little too fizzy sounding for me.

Boosting low/medium gain amps for rock/metal tones?

I find that I really love the crunch tone of the '59 Bassman with with a Tube Screamer in front. Slays any of the Marshall models IMHO.

How many build patches with cab block being last? Why?

I think it's mainly to avoid phase issues from effects in front of the cab. Unless you run a stereo cab (which is basically just two cabs), the cab block will sum the incoming stereo signal to mono. It outputs in stereo, though, so if you have any chorus or pitch shifting effects or whatever...

    Possibility of adding more CPU

Well, you could do that, but I'm not sure the H8000 would really do anything extra for you in a guitar rig over the Orville, and the Orville is a lot cheaper.

    Possibility of adding more CPU

It's the same size as the Axe-II and is 2 lbs. lighter.
  36. Walt's Frozen Head

    Possibility of adding more CPU

For people who say they don't mind spending the money, they could get a used Eventide Orville for ~$1800. It's four ins, four outs, and two DSPs, so you could have it in front of the Axe-FX and in the loop at the same time, with either or both DSPs available in either position. You wouldn't need...
