Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

My 1987x bought new from 2010s also had a bright cap. The interesting fact was that I A/B’d with Axe’s model and liked more the sound of the model. Exploring the parameters I found that it was related to the bright cap being off by default on the model. Ended up removing the bright cap of my...

Easiest way to send bpm to drummer from axe fx

Looks like the guitarist is the one solving all the tech stuff for the band. And then the others complain we take so long to set all things up… I’ve never knew a great singer that was doing the tech stuff. The best I could find is the singer that brings his own effects, but still needs help to...

    Wish Gilmour PULSE amp model

I still have my Alembic, and tried A/Bing to match with fenders pre-amp models (bassman, twin and others) but they dont sound alike in my opinion. I could get something more similar in shape using the tone match but harmonics still don’t match easily. In the axe fx I could get something...

    FM3 Noise Spectra Problem?

It’s pretty clear that, with one end unplugged, the cable is working as an antenna and FM3 is being used merely as a tool to measure the “environment” EMI. The point that OP is raising in this experiment is that the “environment” has more EMI when FM3 is on than with the zoom, which means fm3...

FW updates are fun... simple as that... (and Cliff obviously knows it... it's part of his strategy of success) Doesn't mean you have to choose between play guitar or having fun exploring new stuff that was just released. IMHO, we can have both worlds ;)

Using a direct out for reamping using Logic and Apollo?

IMPORTANT: Don't forget to change back this setting to INTERNAL when you remove your Axe from your rack and go to a gig, otherwise it won't make any sound. You will think your Axe is broken and will have to use that shitty backup overdrive pedal that will certainly ruin your gig!
  16. Gilmourizing

Using a direct out for reamping using Logic and Apollo?

You should see a signal coming from SPDIF in of your "Guitar DI" channel (and at UAD Console) only when your are playing your guitar (DI recording). When your are playing back the previously recorded DI, you should only see signal from analog input of your "Guitar amped" track (as you are now...

Using a direct out for reamping using Logic and Apollo?

I create 2 tracks at my DAW: 1) Guitar DI (stereo): input and output set to spdifs (both connected to Axe's spdif) I create the DI track as stereo because it's easier, but what you need is feed both L/R outputs with the DI signal 2) Guitar Amped (stereo): input: analogs which I have...

Using a direct out for reamping using Logic and Apollo?

I use UA Apollo & Axe III too. What I am doing is connect both SPDIFs (In and Out) between Apollo and Axe III, and also Analog Out 1 stereo from Axe to Apollo analog inputs. I keep Axe's SPDIFs to DIs only ("out" to record and "in" to reamp), and my Amp sound (Axe processed signal) is monitored...
  19. Gilmourizing

Using a direct out for reamping using Logic and Apollo?

Yes. From the Axe interface, go to: "Setup -> I/O -> SPDIF AES Out Source" and set it to "INPUT 1" Now you will record the DI signal from your Apollo SPDIF in.

    Input gain and metering

Yes, the global gain feature is already in the box. You just have to put a volume block right after Input block in every preset and set it as a global block. When changing guitars, you can adjust the output level of the volume block in any preset and hit save. It will affect all your presets...

So, would you want a kind of "Gain Match" feature where you (and others) could match gain of an actual guitar based on a reference? Personally, I don't know if I would use, but sounds like a reasonable wish. EDIT: When I said that I was thinking something similar to ToneMatch block for gain...
  26. Gilmourizing

    Input gain and metering

You are trying to make the same amp settings to have the "same" gain in different guitars (by changing a/d input level), but that is not what happen in the real world. It is expected to have more gain when you plug a guitar with hotter pickups.

I made the Axe scene feedback to Liquid Foot working great! No undesirable midi loops. In case anybody is interested in the future, I had to use a Midi block in each preset and set it to send CC#1 and value corresponding to each scene on Axe. Liquid Foot listens to CC#1 to set IA's. I...
  38. Gilmourizing

Scene change feedback to midi controller

You are right (loop) if Midi block still send messages when the message received is redundant to current scene. There's a config "Ignore Redudant PC" in Axe that avoids the loop for presets/PC, but don't know for scenes/CCs. I'll have to check. Thanks for the insight.
  39. Gilmourizing

    More immediacy?

There's a simple HP input filter on amp and drive blocks that works for that if you want to save blocks.
  40. Gilmourizing

    More immediacy?

Try cut some low end before the distortion (before amp or drive pedal). When you have too much distortion on lower frequencies, you get mud and less definition (mud).

Scene change feedback to midi controller

After I post this thread I realized that one possible solution is adding a midi block to all my Axe presets and set it to send MIDI CC with different values for each scene. When you have blocks in parallel, the moment you attach the virtual "wires", you are summing signals so it's expected an increase in output. 61. Gilmourizing

    Anyone using Speaker Compression?

I always try both settings (1 and 0) when recording and usually I turn it off. But I'm always wondering how accurate is that parameter, because if it's not that accurate, could be better leave it off by default as there will be much more options for compression outside the amp block.

I've never noticed it in any previous updates, but it's funny and great to see "Edited" in Axe Edit when you just load the preset because of that "Update Pre-11.x Presets...=Yes". It makes total sense and it's informative because you know when you already commited to that change in your preset.
