    Metallica Preset help...

I agree 100%. I struggled with this for a long time, trying to get a preset that sounds good with headphones, real cabs at different volumes, and studio monitors and it never works. When playing through my Cabs, a preset can sound amazing at high volumes but when I turn it down to bedroom...

    Wish Delay Preamp

I just want the models to have the same mojo as the original Tape delays and DMM. I am assuming the preamps are not modeled and that is why they do not sound like a real Tape Delay or DMM. I will try the tape distortion and see what that does.

    Wish Delay Preamp

I would like the preamps modeled in the analog Tape and DMM models.

Anyone running WDW, but using 2x FRFR monitors as the WETS with a real amp+cab as the dry?

Interesting discussion, I just got WDW working with my setup. I use an Axe-FX III into a Fryette PS2A to power the Mesa cabinet for the dry signal. Then I use the output 1 to my HS8 studio monitor for the delay and reverb. It sounds fantastic, I can't believe I never tried this before.

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta #2 (Cygnus X-3 Release Candidate)

I wonder if the delay models in the Axe-Fx III do not have the built in preamp circuits, maybe that is what is missing.

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta #2 (Cygnus X-3 Release Candidate)

I really doubt I would be able to match it by ear, there is also a tone thickening that happens as well. That is why I was hoping Fractal could revisit the analog delays to reproduce this like with this amp model update using the new analysis methods.
  8. A

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta #2 (Cygnus X-3 Release Candidate)

I am hoping the analog delays will be revisited at some point with the new measurements I have yet to find a digital emulation that can do a proper Deluxe Memory Man. I still use a DMM 1100 tap tempo in my loop because it adds some sort of thickening and analog warmth that the digital models...

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta #2 (Cygnus X-3 Release Candidate)

I think I can hear the "blurry thing" as well on the Mesa Mark amps, but turning down the Master Bias Excursion like Cliff suggested seems to lower that effect. Regardless I am super happy with the modeling of the Mesa Mark amps in this Beta, they sound exactly like my real amps now going...

  11. A

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta #2 (Cygnus X-3 Release Candidate)

Writing down values does not tell you if there were modeling changes between Betas.
  12. A

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta #2 (Cygnus X-3 Release Candidate)

But those are not the only items in the release notes any of the previous items could have been changed again, which is fine but you cannot tell that by doing a comparison.
  13. A

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta #2 (Cygnus X-3 Release Candidate)

You can't just compare them, that doesn't make sense. There could be additional modeling changes between Betas but we would not be able to tell based on the release notes.
  14. A

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta #2 (Cygnus X-3 Release Candidate)

Are there any release notes that are specific to this Beta? Sorry if I am misunderstanding on how to differentiate changes or updates between the Betas.

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

Leon creates great content, I was just asking for something I would like to see. Trust me, I am very thankful for everything Leon does and if it is a waste of his time then am very sorry for making the request.
  16. A

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

I understand your points a comparison is impossible. Thanks for your input.
  17. A

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

Dude I was just asking for a comparison, I never said I expected every frequency to be exact. By ear is fine for a comparison video.
  18. A

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

By ear, and I disagree I think an expert with both devices should be able to get reasonably close EQ.
  19. A

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

They should still sound pretty close, obviously no 2 amps sound the same.
  20. A

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

For the amp you could only do the comparison if you had the same model amp that exists in the Axe-FX III, you can run them through the same Cab or IR. It is asking a lot but I think it would be interesting. I only brought up the Mark IV since Leon has said on a few occasions that it is one of...
  21. A

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

I would rather get a comparison against real amps since the ultimate goal is for accuracy to the real amp. Comparing against a previous firmware doesn't help us determine if it is more accurate unless they are both compared to the real amps.
  22. A

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

I think the Mark amps are sounding more realistic than ever with this latest update, I would love a comparison/shootout between your Mark IV and the Axe-FX III model, using the same speaker cabs/IRs if possible.
  23. A

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

I tried it both ways and generally preferred the tone after a reset and redialing in from scratch, at least with the limited amp models I use. But I can certainly understand not wanting to do that with a 100 presets.
  24. A

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

I wish GEQ settings would be maintained on a soft reset. It would be especially useful when comparing Mesa Mark amps.

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

This firmware is unbelievable, I just got a chance to play through my cabs at a decent volume and it sounds exactly like a real amp. These are by far the best tones I have got out of the AxeFx III or any amp period. This is the most excited I have ever been about a piece of guitar gear. I...

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

The Mesa JP2C is my new favorite amp model with this update, it is absolutely perfect. The Mesa Mark models seem so realistic now going through my Power Station to my Mesa or Marshall Cab, it is glorious. The models sound better than my real Mark amp now so that is pretty crazy to me.
  27. A

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta (Cygnus X-3)

The Mark IV sounds so good now, the best it has ever sounded to me, and I have struggled with this amp for years but to me it finally sounds like a Mark IV should. Amazing update, thank you!!

Are you using Axe-Fx/FM9/FM3 with a tube amp?

My Axe-Fx III is in the loop of my Power Station. Which allows me to use my Marshall 2x12 cab with AxeFx models and effects. I also have my Mesa Mark V connected to Power Station and an output of the AxeFx going to the input of my Mesa Amp. So I can use any AxeFx effects with my Mesa Amp. So...

Axe-Fx III Factory Presets Release 19.04

Personally I think factory presets are a waste of development time, I would rather get new features or improvements. Making a good sounding preset is very easy these days.
  33. A

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 24.03 Release

If your worried about it, why not just wait a few weeks before updating. It is almost impossible to test every amp and use case, bugs are always going to exist in any software. So the longer you wait the more confident you can be with the release if no major bugs are reported.
  34. A

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 24.01 Release

I disagree that they sound the same I greatly prefer the Mark V modeling to the Mark IV.

  36. A

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 24.00 Public Beta #1

I love the new Mark V red channel models, and the JP IIC+ sounds better also. The modeling changes are very noticeable to me with this update. All my patches are sounding way better.

    Axe FX3 and wireless systems

I had squealing with wireless using 4cm. I switched to humbuster cables and that helped a lot, I can still get it to squeal though on extreme amp settings. Also a noise gate helped as well.

    SD Powerstage vs Fryette PS-100?

It sounds great with the PS. I would just put a parametric before the output to the speaker with a high cut and low cut. Like you might notmally do in a cab block.
  41. A

Axe-FX III with Real cab vs. the Real thing

That works best for me. I leave everything flat on the Power Station.
  42. A

Axe-FX III with Real cab vs. the Real thing

What is working best for me with the Power Station, is using an impedance curve that I like, which is the Mesa 2x12. Then I put a parametric EQ at the end of the chain for high cuts and low cuts, Like I would do if using an IR. I am not hearing any hyped lows and highs using this method.
  43. A

Axe-FX III with Real cab vs. the Real thing

The Resistive Load IC can't be right for the Power Station, it sounds bad. I think it is best for me just to choose the best-sounding one and tweak the EQ on it as needed, most of them sound pretty good anyway.
  44. A

Axe-FX III with Real cab vs. the Real thing

The EQ sounded too flat and dull. But maybe if I select it first then dial in the patch it will be ok.
  45. A

Axe-FX III with Real cab vs. the Real thing

Interesting, I briefly tried the resistive load the other day and it didn't sound right. But I will definitely give it another try if that is what is recommended.
  46. A

Axe-FX III with Real cab vs. the Real thing

Is there anyone who prefers the resistive load impedance? The power station is a reactive load so not sure what to select. I basically have just been selecting the impedance closest to my cab type.

Axe-FX III with Real cab vs. the Real thing

Guys I have come to a decision after some extensive playing with my new setup. I am 95% certain that for me the Axe-Fx->Power Station->Cab is the best possible tone I can achieve, I am going to cancel my order for the Mesa amp. The missing link for me was the Power Station -> Cab, and it ended...

Axe-FX III with Real cab vs. the Real thing

    What's Wrong with my Setup?

Based on my recent experiences I would get a real cab and forget about FRFR. I feel like the reason presets always suck has something to do with using IRs and FRFR. When I use FRFR I tend to think my presets sound good 1 day and the next day they sound different, so I am constantly messing...

Axe-FX III with Real cab vs. the Real thing

Yes, I know nothing about it though other than it will likely be announced early March. I was ordering a Mark V but they can no longer sell those because of the new model.

Axe-FX III with Real cab vs. the Real thing

My 2 dream guitars are a white Les Paul Custom, or a white ESP eclipse. But they are so overpriced now, not sure if I could stomach paying 6k for a guitar.
  53. A

Axe-FX III with Real cab vs. the Real thing

First off I love the Axe-Fx III, and have no plans of selling it. The reason for this poll is I have a Mesa Mark VI and Mesa 2x12 cab on order which is going to run me about 4k (store credit from trading in guitars), and I am wondering if I am making a big mistake and I won't even notice or...

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 19.02

All other presets are fine, the drive was the Valve Screamer VS9. I am not sure if it was my user error or a firmware update that caused this though. It is possible it happened in an earlier firmware update and I just didn't notice because I change guitars a lot. I only noticed when I used...

Ok, so I tried out the settings and it definitely helped. The Recovery Time sounded good at 27.00 ms but previously the Excursion Time was around 9.4 in version 16.01, I think it sounded much better and closer to before at that setting. So not sure if it is more accurate now but it changed...

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 16.01 "Cygnus"

Yes, I actually recorded both of those values before upgrading since I suspected that those were the cause of me not liking the new firmware beta 16.01. After reverting back the Grid Bias and Negative Feedback settings to the values in release version 16.0 my patches sounded good again and...
  73. A

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 16.01 "Cygnus"

I think it was the Grid Bias default value changes that made my patches sound so different when I tried the previous beta. Before I upgraded I wrote down the previous values from release 16. When I change the Grid Bias back to the previous value the patches sounded pretty much the same as they...

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 16.01 Beta 1 Public Beta

I only use about 6-8 presets so I am very familiar with how they sound, some were updated for Cygnus and others didn't need much tweaking. Axe-Fx III 16.00 Beta 5 "Cygnus" Firmware - Public Beta #2
