Headroom feature on authentic page in amp block

Oh, ok - so I misinterpreted the notes. I initially read it as meaning that only Non-MV amps get their distortion from the power amp and that all MV amps should run a 'clean' power amp. I see now this is not what was actually written. Thanks!

Headroom feature on authentic page in amp block

Question on this... The release notes say: Added “Headroom” monitoring meter to Amp block. The most common reason for “muddy” tones with high-gain amps is incorrect setting of the Master Volume control. The Headroom meter displays the voltage at the virtual power tubes in dB. If the Master...

Wish Access Looper In Any Preset Without The Need To Add A Block

To that point, IIRC, going to the Looper layout still won't work if you don't have a Looper block in the preset already.
  6. rcv24

Wish Access Looper In Any Preset Without The Need To Add A Block

Yes, there are completely different use cases for the looper which necessitate different placement (e.g., auditioning cabs vs playing over a loop at a live show).

  10. rcv24

    Leveling Presets and Output Level

No, definitely not clipping, it's just moving into the red 2-3 dB - which is why I never did anything about it... the question just occurred to me as I was leveling presets that if there was a best practice, now would be the time to implement. Sounds like I'm doing what you do though, as I...

    Leveling Presets and Output Level

I'm going through my presets using the new leveling feature via Axe-Edit. Typically my rhythm scene hovers around 0dB. When I engage my lead scene (+3dB filter block), it moves into the red (since >0dB is in the red of course). Should I aim to have the 'loudest' part of the preset at 0dB to...

Looper control coupled with scene change?

I'm finding that in a lot of the scenarios where I want to use the Looper block, it would be helpful to be able to start Record or Play/Stop at the same time I change scenes (or alternatively engage other blocks). For example, if the solo of a song is played over a rhythm section that was...

Axe-Fx III Firmware Release Version 13.02

Out of curiosity, why would one add a new type as opposed to putting a switch in the existing type? Same question would apply to some of the amp types - I'm guessing there is a deep engineering reason, but a few sentence layman explanation would satisfy my curiosity just fine. ;)

    Did I get a returned Axe-Fx III?

People (myself included) tend to project their personalities onto others and wonder why the OP didn't handle it the way they would. When I got my III (very early on, and after being an incredibly satisfied owner of the II), I was reading in the forums about unit malfunctions. Panicking a bit...

I absolutely LOVE all of the detailed work going into the Axe-FX III - modeling, effects, etc. It's pure gold. The Know Your Gear video was NOT equating Taylor Swift's playing technique or style to EVH at all... only that she is inspiring people (especially women) to take up the instrument and play. He called her a musician, not a guitar god. And she is absolutely a talented musician. My 2 cents.

Yes, complete now. The Axe-FX III is such a complex beast, I feel pretty sure you'd get a lot out of it even if you're not new to the modeling concept. @ccroyalsenders does an excellent job of building everything from the ground up as well as going into some pretty advanced topics.

    Axe-Fx III Firmware Version 11.00

It appears that if you have the Global “Update Pre-11.x Presets Spkr Imp Upon Load" set to Yes, and a pre-11.x preset has a Global Amp Block, then the Cabinet Resonance parameter set to 0. All non-Global Amp Blocks have the parameter set to 100. Bug or feature?

    Axe-Fx III Firmware Version 7.00

You can do it all through FractalBot. It's super easy... but one difference, if you do it that way, it won't store the file on your hard drive... meaning that you can't reference it later if you need to unless you go download it.

@Karl Houseknecht Also, you can use thin wood strips with velcro on both sides. This is how I did mine so that I can, at any time, remove the FC-6 from the pedalboard and use it separately. I posted a pic of my board earlier in this thread.

The Boss FS-7 is used as a Control Switch (described on p. 36 of the manual) so it can interact directly with modifiers. The thing I like about the FS-7 is it is 2 switches, each configurable to Momentary or Latching, in a very compact setup.

    FC 6/12 choice: regrets?

Same - FC-6 for me for the exact reasoning, but I'll stick with 2 expression pedals. I'm adding a Morningstar MC-6 to control some dedicated functions via MIDI. You might want to check it out... very compact, and it never hurts to have a general purpose MIDI controller available. :)
  94. rcv24

What do you want video demos of?

Exactly ... so I'm going with the FC-6 for that reason. The FC-12 is actually wider than the MFC.
  95. rcv24

Width Saved by Removing Side Cheeks

So if the product page is correct on the FC-6 width (11.2"), that is a savings of .45" total (both sides)... but if the schematic drawing is correct, the FC-6 width is 11.06" for a savings of .31" total.
  96. rcv24

What do you want video demos of?

I've got a 24" board that I purchased before the FCs were released. To me, 24" seems like a reasonable amount of space when you think about the MFC and expression pedal or two side by side. The big benefit I'm going for is having all the hook ups in place (yes, it's minor, but I'm tweaking a...
