barely touch them, if i do it's the level. The UI is a weak point of the unit. As others have said. I wish the available knobs were assignable like the footswitches are.

polishing your preset tones

in the amp block graphic eg section on all presets the 2 low end and 2 high end sliders I reduce a few db each. Works better live now, less boom and hi sizzle.

today I built some acoustic guitar patches with IRs

I use the Taylor IRs but I run the tube pre and cab block in paralell then blend them to taste. I like a little of the actual pickup tone mixed with the artificial ir sound.

Need Some Rotary Speaker Settings Help.

I connect an exp pedal to the speed with some damping that lets it ramp up/down gradually like a real leslie. I like the pedal for setting speed rather fast or slow with a control switch. I also run it in parallel so it doesn't take over the entire sound.

Faking two Amps w/ Cabs

Here's a preset I'm working on. I put a drive block (ruckus, since its an amp-in-the-box type) in parallel with the amp block. then into a mono cab block. For me being stereo is not practical most of the time.

I just attach an exp pedal to cab level. It's before delay/reverb so it does't disturb those and sounds natural. Set it to whatever range you need. No extra block needed.

Tips For Cover Band Rhythm Player

You probably already know, using a template speeds up the creation of new variations of existing presets. Also save your favorite block settings in the library. Maybe try whole seperate sets of presets to suit your various guitars, adjusting for different pick-up output.

Acoustic guitar presets

here's a preset I use with a piezo bridge pick-up. Just blend the straight preamp with the parallel cab block to taste. Also included the acoustic IR cab block by itself.

Glad you got something from it. The trick is to get the expression curves right on the 4 main parameters (input trim, input gain, master volume, and MV trim) so it reacts without big volume jumps. Each amp responds a bit differently I find.

AX8 edit can be so clunky and the time outs, yuck, having to reboot everything. You can't turnoff the AX without a big pop so you have turn off your speaker. So tedious.. frustrating. I wish FAS would take a page from the eventideH9 playbook. Now that is an eloquent interface. For such a stellar...

the comp in the amp block works well too. Under dynamics page use just a little negative on the preamp comp say-01.00. saves cpu over having a seperate amp block

Is there an advantage using the Filter block instead of an EQ?

The filter block has X/Y states, while the GEQ or PEQ blocks do not. Useful when used as a boost to have 2 different boost levels available.

If your talking about a standard vol pedal, not expession, then, put it in an efx loop block after the amp/cab. won't effect gain and will let delay/reverb trail off naturally.

you can set the range of the control switch behavior just like any other controller. It can also be set as latching or momentary. Example -hold it down for a quick cange to input gain ,let off it's back to normal

I had the RCA $100 Win 10.from amazon . Having the usb jack was key.Worked ok. The touchscreen to adjust the very small virtual knobs is a bit wonky. Can't really use it live due to the cummunication interuptions.

Creative uses for expression pedal

I'd like to map enough parameters (comp, drive, amp ect) to go clean to scream and all points in between with just a sweep of the pedal, without a volume change. I may have to spend some time experimenting. If I can get that to work then add some efx to the stew.

AX8- edit is cool and great tool, I use it. But in my opinion it would serve everyone well to learn the hardware. I personally don't want to have to rely on AX-edit as my only means of tweaking. I do not want to get stuck if the editor is not available or not working. For you stay home...

the double verb can do it but master volume needs to be reduced to clean to up a tad in my limited experience. I've found reducing MV in many amps cleans them up. Really depends if the amp is getting it's dirt thru pre-amp or power-amp distortion. That determines if pre or master vol should be...

auto wah with modifier

Im new to the AX, I just know enough to hurt myself ha ha. I made a good AW , by assigning 'envelope' as my wah controller, then tweaked it's behavior with it's threshold param under the contollers screen. Hope that helps.
