Good point! I have just done a few measurements. It happens the z-curve control adds in what I would describe as a bass bump, a mid scoop and large high bump. Just like a speaker impedance curve as seen on the Axe fx amp block (the bass boost being way larger on the Celestion implementation)...

Right! Seems the default drive value goes to zero when switching to that drive. I did not try to tweek that one, I was just "passing by" while searching for another one. Not a bug it seems.

I was messing with the drive block yesterday and I noticed once I switched the type to "Tube Drv 4-Knob" there was no sound. Every other type had sound but that one was muted. Axe Fx 2 XL with Ares 1.0.
