By the way, S1/5, S2/6, S3/7, S4/8 also has the advantage (over S1/2, S3/4, etc.) that the scene LED‘s still neatly align with the respective foot switches...

Mini Expression pedal for AX8?

For expression pedal just use the TRS output. The pedal can also be used as a volumen pedal. Only then you need to use the input and outpt.

I get you. It's not possible, to setup the unit so that it starts in preset mode. So you have to press (and hold) F1 after each power cycle. The same is valid for scene mode. It's one of my older feature requests (wish) to make this configurable...

I don't know this device, but for bi-directional communication you would need two MIDI cables instead of only one? Also the AX8 does not send MIDI CC, only PC. So I'm not sure, if your device can even show the preset name active on your AX8. Or do you connect via USB?

I just purchchased this mini EXP pedal: https://www.thomann.de/de/valeton_surge_ep_2_mini.htm It's small, light weigth, affordable and seems to be sturdie although it's plastic. Operation so far is very smooth and Dunlop Wah like. And it's orange like the Mission Pedal I used before... ;-)

Mine looks nearly the same now, only with all black cables. I still consider cutting the insulation of the cable that is blue in your case, so that there is less pressure applied to the other connectors. Also I still don't like that the S/PDIF jack is partly buried.

No, that's not how a voltage divider works. The specification ranges from 10K to 100K (which I see as a recommendation) in case of the first 10K = 100%, in the later 100K = 100%. I'm sure even 5K or 150K would be fine. At some point the internal current over that resisitor might get to high...
