    Electromagnetic noise/ interference

Nope, the problem is there and it's worse in one room but it's pretty bad throughout the entire condo. With everything in the place shut down, and only a UPS powering the amp and speakers, I still have the same problem. It's coming from the pickups on every single guitar so I know it's an emi...

    Boss IR-2 - Fractal Killer?

I get it... And I'm a firm, committed AXE man, having spent tens of thousands on literally every iteration of the AXE FX and owning 2 of them right now, and an FM9...but we MAY not need to spend thousands to get some of what the AXE delivers today. All Boss has to do, is knock off a bunch of...

    Electromagnetic noise/ interference

No, as I had written in one of my previous posts I actually shut down every single breaker in the condo, and the problem persists. So I know it's coming from outside of the unit.

    Electromagnetic noise/ interference

Thank you for that; very helpful, and I will start looking at this immediately. I played again today, and it's so noisy, that while you're playing it, you can hear it, and it's terribly distracting. Obviously it goes dead quiet when I stop playing, because of the aggressive noise gate dial in...

    Electromagnetic noise/ interference

The guy who originally complained about it three weeks ago in one of the association meetings, already talked about that. I am, extremely litigious in my business practices, and I always laugh when I hear stuff like this. They go off half cocked in meetings, and they talk about lawyers and...

I'm not exactly sure where that transformer is located. I have another association meeting tomorrow night and I'm going to ask the question. There is somebody there who knows exactly where it is. I intend to find out!

    Electromagnetic noise/ interference

So, yesterday during all of this, I unplugged everything and just ran one power cord into the wall, no speaker outputs, and just used headphones. There was no difference...and I found that even with power wires and output cables close to each other, it changed nothing.

    Electromagnetic noise/ interference

Actually, it's just dawned on me, I was at a condo association meeting 3 weeks ago and I just remembered that they were talking about a very noisy transformer on this side of the building. Also heard that the management company had called Florida Light and Power to examine it and the report...

  18. SteveW

    Electromagnetic noise/ interference

Exactly, it's the EMI in the room that's causing the problem. Only there's nothing actually in the room that would cause it so, it's got to be coming from just below, just above or beside me, any one of three units. I've been chasing this for years but it's gotten much much worse in the past...

    Electromagnetic noise/ interference

I just received an FM9 tonight... And it exhibits the exact same issue. If I move to the other room with the guitar, no noise; if I stick it in the same place as the AXE FXIII in the bedroom, I have noise.

Yes the input block gate... And I'm guessing that by changing the impedance I was able to cut out a bit more of that hum. 25. SteveW

    Electromagnetic noise/ interference

Well, I guess I'm going to start by shutting off breakers one by one and then plugging the amp into a different outlet in another room while leaving it in the same place until I find the offending switch/outlet/transformer. Thank you for your instant reply and guidance!
  26. SteveW

    Electromagnetic noise/ interference

It's not my FXIII... But rather something in the room. It's driving me crazy, and I've had it on all of my AXE FX units in this particular room. It's a very loud hum coming from any guitar, single / double coil, humbucker or not. It changes with positioning in the room, but never goes away and...

Kill audio to monitors with headphones plugged in

So I did the output 1 copy to output 2, moved my HS7's to output 2 and voila, it was that simple as was posted above. No additional hardware necessary and I have full control of the monitors independently from the headphones. Thanks everyone for your invaluable suggestions!
  28. SteveW

Kill audio to monitors with headphones plugged in

That looks pretty simple as well, but if I can do it by just copying output one and controlling the two outputs individually, I guess it's easier and no other hardware being introduced!

    Fender Tone Master Pro....

I wish that were the case, but the online and in-store presence of the competitors product far exceeds that of Fractal. The big guys spend a lot of money on advertising, which gets them returns on investment. I do think that Fractal needs to make the switch to a touchscreen GUI, as that is...

Right...I agree that not all FRFR's will sound the same. Your suggestion about playing through the guitars cabs, I agree as well...if you're willing to stick with what that cab delivers and if you're willing to buy something like a Matrix amp to go with that. Been there done that... Moved to...

    FM3 vs AXE FXIII

It's hard to explain or put into words exactly what I'm hearing but, suffice to say that when you play through a transistor amp, versus a tube amp there are marked differences to the human ear. These differences are very perceptible to an experienced player. Sorry I can't explain more than that...

I had the same issue, And it's coming from the pickups.. it is an electrical problem in my walls, because if I move the unit to another room the problem goes away completely. FM3 vs AXE FXIII

So, I ordered an FM3 a few months ago and I've had ample opportunity to play with it. And just for the record, I already own an AXE FXIII and an AXE FXIII Mark II, both installed with a pair of FRFR's, in two different residences. So, this ain't my first rodeo! All that said, I will say that...

best passive FRFR for Axe-fx III and Seymour Duncan PS 700 ?

Why wouldn't you just go with active speakers? You have a plethora of choices in all budgets if you go active speakers. I'm using Yamaha HS8 s for my homes and JBL 305PMKII's for travel, which are pretty close to the HS8's. Both have a very, very flat curve, fairly close to FRFR. No disrespect...

    Insert pedal into effects loop

Curious to know if there's a way to create an effects loop on the AXE without going through the actual loop at the rear of the unit. Can it be done through the chain itself in a patch? I figured since we're actually able to get in between the cab and speakers on this unit, maybe there's a way...

    Fractal FRFR

When I look for an FRFR, and I suggest anyone else looking do the same, I look at the frequency response chart. I look for something as close to flat as possible. 56. SteveW

    Fractal FRFR

I said "similar", not identical, and I'm aware that they can't get a perfect FRFR.. but maybe you want to have a look at the actual frequency response curves on some of these units and see for yourself. I've already done that in my extensive research... Both from a visual and audible...

    Fractal FRFR

I agree with 2/3 of the above post, the part about fractal not needing to make one, and the part about finding the best thing that suits your budget. Technically if the reference is full range flat response, they should all sound similar, if they can achieve flat response, but the differences...

    Fractal FRFR

FRFR>>> FULL RANGE FLAT RESPONSE The name says it all. As opposed to say regular stereo speakers that are going to sound wildly different between one brand or one model and another an FRFR should technically sound the same from one to another. From my experience they're pretty close when you get...
  59. SteveW

    Fractal FRFR

There are a ton of manufacturers out there making FRFR speakers. Like I said, anything that gets as close to a flatline as possible is all you need. Doesn't have to be Celestion or anyone else. JBL, Yamaha, Adams, CLR... They all make FRFR speakers and they all sound very close to each other...
  60. SteveW

    Fractal FRFR

Can't see why they would want to create an FRFR. Any FRFR that gets us close to a flat line as possible is going to sound pretty much the same as the next one. It wouldn't make any sense. There's really no magic sauce here

Want to put a practice amp combo together using an FM3 and?

Yes, problem is that headphones are very colored and not flat... I've tried several high-end pairs and I don't get the desired tone; not even close. I use the Yamaha HS8's and they're as close to an FRFR as you can get. The tone is so close to the original it's scary, and that's what I'm after.
