If so, then I guess the latest should be the best, if we accept it should be the one holding all the previous changes. I'm running 10.0 right now and the only thing I've noticed is that sometimes when I switch a preset it sounds flat, so I switch back and forth once and it punches right again...

Clipping on main out XLR to mains

I have my main out at about ten o'clock. With the presets I made I would simply overload the FOH channels anywhere beyond 50%. Be careful of what you input and how you send it. That's all.

How to do volume consistency?

I basically do the same, but I use a mic on the room where I play and see a giant VU meter on the DAW to adjust all presets and their boost levels.

Keep working on it. I use a Mooer Preamp Live as backup and I've gotten all I need out of it. I'm sure the Line6 floorboard is also capable, you just haven't found the right combination yet.

Solo boost volume

Once you add the filter you can copy it to every preset and it will appear on every scene. Activate it on the scene for soloing. You might need to tweak the actual boost value but that's a given any way you do it.

I have four presets on 1-4. 5 is for the single scene that activates the boost, delay, EQ and volume change for leads. 6-8 are pedal mode (drv, wah, cho, rev, depending on preset).

I would (and will not) buy an FM3. It doesn't have what I need a live unit to have, regardless of its firmware. Honestly, if FAS released a final firmware for the AX8 that had no bugs and was formidably stable, I'd be a happy camper. I'm not unhappy with 10.0, mind you, but it'd be a logical...

I've made a Mooer Preamp Live work as a backup with its 4 buttons (presets) and two "scenes" per button, but that's hardly the point. Anyone willing can "get by" with three, or even two buttons. Hell, I can get by with ANY amp and the guitar's volume knob, in a pinch. But then, what's the point...

What do you use for backup if AX8 dies at gig?

You might miss the Reverb and not like the heavier distortions. It's quite a different animal. I'd try the Mooer GE-200. It's cheap, and does what it's needed.

It was more like a slight muffling of the sound. I used to use the FXL for the piezo in my Parker, but I'm not using that anymore. I don't recall now if I had the cable in, but the difference was noticeable when switching FXL on and off.

Well, I found out none of my amps changed their volumes. I still took the time to re-check everything and make some subtle changes here and there, like switching off some FXL blocks that I wasn't using and I found were changing the sound a bit.

How many of you just upgrade and play?

With all the volume changes in the different FWs, option 1 is simply not possible. You'll need to tweak levels at least. Now, for me, that means base and boost levels in five presets, where both base and boost have to hit the same volumes compared to each other. I don't usually need to do much...

BTW, that mixer is perfectly fine for guitars. If you ever mic an amp through it you'll find out that the pre-amp is quite suited for guitar work :) Not every problem is solved throwing money at it ;)

Fracbot Backup Taking Forever

USB 2.0 tops at 60MB/s and 3.0 tops at 640MB/s but they both depend on whatever you've plugged in there. Most USB drives won't even get close to HALF the speed of the 3.0 maximum bandwidth. From there, it's just a matter of knowing how much data you are sending to the computer. At the 2.0 slow...

Setting presets/patches using headphones

It's also a very light unit. We use them as monitors and they work really well for the price. At home I use a small 5" unit that admits several sources, and it's been good for testing and getting the feel of the sounds, as they just normally get "bigger" through the FoH. Just don't get too mad...

For those of you that go direct to the PA.. do you also have your own FRFR solution on stage?

I use a monitor wedge with the full mix in it. Since I'm mixing it while I play, I need to know the levels, but that's normally set at the sound check. We don't use amps and most gigs are played with an electronic drum set so levels are predefined in the presets :)

Just updated my AX8 and now my screen is scrambling. Help!

I had my SHIFT button stuck once. At first I thought something had fallen on it and smashed it in, but pressing on the opposite corner got it out and it works normally. Not very reassuring, but not alarming either.

First Rehearsal with the AX8 tonight,.... :(

I have my Out1 pointing at 9 too and that gives me a bit of room for the gain knob in our mixer (SoundCraft) so it doesn't have to be fully closed. This greatly depends on how you have set the overall volumes of your patches in the Amp Block level. Mines are always in negative numbers to match...
