Got my FX8 Mk 1, hooked up but massive noise

Yes sir. I find it easier to seek the problem without constraint (live considerations, in this instance) and then apply the constraints once the problem is understood.. I find it's easier that way.

Got my FX8 Mk 1, hooked up but massive noise

I went from pedals to the FX8, and my rig got a lot quieter.. If it's adding noise in any way, perhaps contact support and see if they have any ideas. Do try what the other gentleman suggested, even if it won't work live, it may point to a power related problem, and troubleshooting can be...

Got my FX8 Mk 1, hooked up but massive noise

Yes, there is +4 db and -10db. You should not need to use the noise gates to get no noise. I have a ISP Decimator G-String in the loop, to catch pre-amp noise, but I only need it for the most extreme settings. I can live without it. It's silent without gates in every other scenario.

No, there's a button on the back of the unit specifically for ground lifting.

Got my FX8 Mk 1, hooked up but massive noise

That's not expected. I have a mark 1 and it is silent in all my amps. Check fx loop gain settings compared to your amp, that could be something.. but this unit is so quiet it's not even funny. My amps for ref: Mesa Boogie Mark IV, Dual Recto.

What is your cable configuration in detail?
  7. B

FX8 is in da' house :)

True, but some scenes are good for jamming. I often have a 'jam' song preset.. clean, dirty, etc.. plus some standard stomps to fill in the blanks.. However I always 100% use scenes to switch amp channels, due to the avoidance of a using a block, and other benefits such as triggering of fx.

FX8 is in da' house :)

I have also found that to be true. Even for after market parts, I got assistance late on a Friday night from an employee and he located me parts not even on the website in under an hour at a really fair price. I didn't expect to hear anything until Monday, and it was already packed before the...

FX8 is in da' house :)

You should use scenes. Scenes allow you to set relays in either tip, sleeve, or both configs. It allows you to avoid using a block for that functionality. I have a Mesa Mark IV and I can use 4 functions of the amp in any combination i want. Also works great for my dual rec. Scenes are key :)

FX8 and Fryette Power Station Problems and Conversation with Steven Fryette

My issues were purely gain based. With too much output vol, the fryette squeals like a pig. There are impedance changes when new output sources are jacked in (I had line out plugged in), so sometimes levels need to be dropped a bit to avoid the squeal. That's what I found.

FX-8 / Mesa Mark IV Switching Questions

I also run a Mark IV with the existing 4 relays no problem.. I think it's one of the best all around amps ever made. I considered an amp gizmo to do the whole works, but like the other poster here, I found I was fine with the 4 available relays no problem.

FX8 Relay Switching issue with Friedman

That's the issue. When X/Y is on, the change happens on button release. Disable X/Y and it will change instantly. You can still use XY, by assigning an F switch to XY switch. a reasonable compromise IMO.

I'm gonna work on this over the weekend. I've got 4 heads, with different loops. Mesa Dual Rect, Mesa Mark IV, Ibanez 120 watt tube head and a mesa rectifier recording preamp. I have an ISP Decimator II g-string in the loop. guitar tracking ensures the gate stays open as long as it should. i don't believe that it gates the input signal of the guitar at all, or when switching to clean channel. it's a set and forget system. I had a non-g-string version and it was...

    How to get instantaneous switching

You can setup a function key as an XY switcher, tap, or sticky. This is what I have setup, as I prefer the instant switch.. The only lag switching I've heard involved the multi-delay. Without it I get seamless relay and effect switching.
  26. B

Wish Double-tap Function 1 and Function 2 footswitches

Double tap would cause a delay in all switching, as the system would have to wait til it was sure there were not two clicks before executing a change. This would make the entire experience sluggish. Consider external midi switches as a viable solution for your needs.

Scenes versus pre set mode for live use -which do you prefer

I have X/Y turned off. You can always setup the X/Y selector as a function switch. That's what I do, and I rarely use it. Scenes takes care of the switching between X/Y for me no problem.

Scenes versus pre set mode for live use -which do you prefer
