Axe-Fx II "Ares" Rev 2.00 Firmware Release

Wow; The Master Of Sourcecode Improvement ... Congrats, Cliff! 👍👍 You're killer man! So even the AxeFx II will go on ... That, once more, makes the difference to other companies. Thanx a lot for that! Regards, Mike

    Axe-Edit

Ah OK; You didn't mention that fact before, so I thought you're using the II. Sorry for that. Regards Mike

    Axe-Edit

I'm using Axe-Edit 3.14.5 actually on macOS Sierra. System informations (Apple-Button > About This Mac) and the Activity Monitor both show me the information, that this Axe-Edit version is accounted as a 64-bit app. So it should run on macOS systems, which only support 64-bit apps.

Bug? Globak blocks do not unlink in axe edit

Hi Davy; There is an Axe-Edit section here named: Axe-Edit (Gen I, II only) It makes sense to post bugs and other problems of the editor in that section ;-) Also it is helpful to tell us, which firmware and editor versions you are using! Regards, Mike

    Axe-Edit 3.14.5

@Michael Pickens Hi Mike; The Ten-Tap-Delay bug when changing Delay Time with the taper in the editor is still there! ARES 1.03 & Edit 3.14.5. Changing the values manually by editing the edit-field works well. Oh, I forgot ... macOS Sierra system! Kind regards, Mike

Axe Edit v 3.14.4 has bug in "Axe-Manage Presets" tool

Hey guys; that has been reported a lot of times! I think Michael Pickens has seen all these posts ;-) Using the functions on the Axe itself works well.
  7. L

Bug? Moving presets in Axe-Manage Presets kills the presets

I even wrote that yesterday. I tried to COPY! That even doesn‘t work. Good to see, that I didn‘t try to move presets ... Doing it at the Axe itself, there is no problem. It‘s an editors bug.
  8. L

Axe-Fx II "Ares" Rev 1.02 Firmware Release

Yes! Axe-Edit/Dynamics tab I've just checked it again. Turnin' the taper or setting the value by hand in the edit-field and saving the preset doesn't produce any problem. The Axe is working well all the time.
  9. L

    Bug? 10 Tap Delay

;-) Exactly; my fault. Must have been a problem with my eyes ... Ignored the MultiDelay ... Same problem here. The digits (values) are staying still there in the edit-field, but the taper is going back to zero/left side. Thanx Mike
  10. L

    Bug? 10 Tap Delay

Sorry to ask you; Are you using a XL/XL+ or a II? I cannot find any 10-Tap-Delay on the AxeFx II MK II, ARES 1.02, AxeEdit 3.14.4. There's a Multi-Tap. But everything works fine. Regards Mike

    Axe-Edit 3.14.4

Just tried to copy a preset from one position to another. The Axe-Presetmanager shows the name of the preset at the new presetnumber after saving it. But if I close the manager, the copied preset isn't there ;-) Copying on the AxeFx itself works! It's an editors problem. ARES 1.02 / AxeEdit...

Axe-Fx II "Ares" Rev 1.00 Firmware Release

That sounds great! Thanks for the commitment! I'm very curious about the (new) improvements. Is it possible to update the editor regarding the new parameter? Would be nice ;-) Rock'nRoll
  17. L

Axe-Fx II "Ares" Rev 1.00 Firmware Release

Yes; you‘re right. As edo said, over a long time. I‘m not sure, but I seem to recall, that this parameter had been deactivatet a long time ago. Nevertheless it had been there in the AxeFx-menu. That‘s what I remember; but I even can be wrong.
  18. L

Axe-Fx II "Ares" Rev 1.00 Firmware Release

Yes! There is one parameter missing in the editor: "Speaker Compliance". So it would be nice to get an update ;-) Nevertheless; "Ares One" is a big shot in my opinion! Great last gift for us Axe-Fx II-users. @FractalAudio Many thanks to Cliff and the whole crew!!! Has been a great journey...

Hi Toni, ich bin's Mike! Bin ja seit Kurzem nicht mehr auf axefx.de vertreten; haste vielleicht mitbekommen. War mir zu sehr unter der Gürtellinie, die letzte Geschichte. AF2 Ares amp block gain?

It‘s a BETA! To change all your presets at now doesn‘t make sense! Change the presets, if the final version has been rolled out! That would make sense ;-) wouldn‘t it?
  21. L

Axe-Fx II Firmware "Ares" 1.00 Public Beta

I think it would be helpful, to post that in the "Axe-Fx II Bugs"-section, because it is possible, that Cliff doesn't read any posting here ;-)
  22. L

    AxeEdit 3 will be updated?

If there are new parameters in Ares 1.0, it will be necessary to roll out an update. But the update will come, when the final firmware-version has been rolled out, I think.
  23. L

Why are FAS-Cabs/Cab-Packs only allowed to be used in the AxeFx?

I've bought them, I payed for them ... I wouldn't spread them to other users as a kind of pirate copy ... But I think, it should be my own decision to use them the way I like to do! Am I thinking in the wrong direction? I'm refering to this thread: #5
  24. L

    Level vs. Master Vol.

The "Input Trim-Parameter" is programmed (modeled) as a part of the real hardware in a real amp! So its value affects the behaviour of the first gain stage of an amp. Even it is a part of the (software)modeling process. It doesn't only change the input amplitude, like the...

Using VU meter in Axe Fx II - Cleans vs Crunch/Lead - Issues......

I'm even using this kind of leveling. And it works good. But mostly I use FreeOrbanLoudnessMeter. When it is configured in the right way, it does it the same way as the internal VU-meter. With one big difference; It shows even the peak level for a second or more ... That helps a lot ;-) If you...

Easiest way to compare 2 presets?

I'm using the app "Beyond Compare" to compare two files. Export the 2 (files to be compared) *.csv-files from the Axe-Edit. Using drag&drop you can put the exported files into the two app-windows (left, right). It makes it very easy to compare, if you choose the option "only show differences" in...

    Ringing with even slight gain?

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 10.01 Firmware Release

Yes guys; it is and has been always the same problem; Not the firmware by itself is the problem; It's the coordination between MIDI-Over-USB (AxeFx) and the other running (MIDI-using) processes on the computers. Last days, my Axe ran for hours without any problem. I only avoided to use any...

    Problem with the edit

Hi Roberto; Same question here; Do you try to use the AxeFx II-Editor with the AxeFX ULTRA? That doesn't work! Try this link to AlGrenadine's ftp-site: http://archive.axefx.fr/AxeFX%20I%20%28Standard%20%26%20Ultra%29/AxeEdit/ Load: Axe-Edit_Setup 1_0_191 That was the last stable version and...

What Happens To My Presets When I Update Firmware?

Hi; A factory reset isn't necessary. As Severed said, it's a complete new installing (into the Boot-ROM) of the firmware you want to use. The firmware itself doesn't change while using the AxeFx. The parameters which can be changed (systems parameter, user cabs, presets ...) are stored in...

    Headphone Sound Disappointing. User Error?

Read his first post! He's mainly talking about the sound/volume of the headphone out! It's impossible, that you/I have an identical sound when playing thru headphones and/or playing thru power amp and a real cab. So my answer is: No
  37. L

    Headphone Sound Disappointing. User Error?

I'm using the AxeFx II MKII with an AKG K601. 120 Ohm impedance. More than enough power, if I tweak presets in a normal (volume)range. No problems here.

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 8.02 Firmware Release

Ok; Q=2*Pi*(W/V) W is the stored energy at start of an oscillation period. V is the lost energy within this period. Q is the amount of damping of a resonant circuit, to be correct Bandwidth=f0/Q f0=squareroot(f1*f2) f1 is the lower, f2 the upper frequency, where the amplitude is -3dB below...

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 8.02 Firmware Release

If your TC does it this way, it doesn't mean "Q" (= Quality). The Q-factor, describing filter-qualities, isn't a physical value. It's a relative scaling, most of the time like [0..1]. Q=0 means the lowest quality value; the filter has a wide range (bandwith). Q=1 means the highest (best)...

Time-out between Axe-Edit and AxeFx with fw 8.02

Since AxeFx-firmware 8.02, I even have a lot of time-outs between my iMac with macOS Sierra 10.12.5 and the Axe-Edit (3.14.2). Connected is the Mac via USB-cable. But not only Axe-Edit is affected. Yesterday, I had the same problem with Orban Loudness Meter, a software I use to handle the...

Axe FX II timing out after 8.0

That's not correct. From time to time (firmware & software versions), I've even got timeout messages from the Axe-Edit. I never had a MFC; It had been a problem only between AxeFx and my Mac computer. Most of the time, the following (software/firmware)releases had fixed it. The AxeFx is (and...
  65. L

    Axe Edit constant crashes

Maybe, it's a firmware problem. Restarting Axe-Edit and/or disconnecting & reconnecting the USB-cable doesn't fix the problem. Only restarting the AxeFx itself helps to reconnect with Axe-Edit. I also have seen, that working with the Output-block/scene-volume page in Axe-Edit produced the...

    When will the updates stop?

I also hope, that it never ends! You're not forced to install updates. Improvement is the right way ... Improvement causes changes in sound and funcionality. No improvement means, to move backwards in development at a certain point. That's not, what we want, I think.

A differing perspective isn't generally silly! I respect different kinds of opinions all the time! Especially this discussion is needless in my opinion. Nothing more ;-) It's OK, if someone is unhappy, not to have the option to switch back. But I would prefer more Boot-ROM-storage instead of...

I can't believe, what I'm reading here. Same discussion as we have had a few months ago. In my opinion, there is no need to switch back to older modeling versions. The options, to get a perfect sound, are bigger than ever with this firmware 7.xx. For what other reason should FAS improve the...

Bug? Q7 beta 2 mixer block gets scrambled values when saving preset

Yes it should, so even I think. It should not be possible, to store a preset, that doesn't fit the maximum preset size, the AxeFx can handle. Those kind of faults should be handled early enough by the software. That's daily routine in software development.
  74. L

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 7.00 Public Beta

Remove Legacy Version Option from Firmware - Mark l/Mark ll

+1 I even don't need the option to use older modeling versions. I think, it has been the wrong decision, to implement this function! Why? At the end of the day, we all want to use a well improved guitar modeler. So it has to be latest ... With the switch-back option, all the time someone has...
