No presets (Zero!) showing in Axe-Change (AX8-Edit)

Suddenly, I see ZERO presets when I launch AxeChange via AX8 Edit. It pulls back 376 on the Cabs tab, but (0) on the Presets...have done a full uninstall/reinstall. Anyone else?

Friedman ASM-12

I can echo the volume issue. I think it's unfortunately by design - I've tried multiple cables, checked my I/O and gain balancing...it's livable, but frustrating nonetheless.

44 Magnum + 2x12 cab sounds harsh - help!

We think we've narrowed it down - there's a freq somewhere in the 8k-16k range that's pushing through EXTRA hot. Cutting 16k via GEQ INSTANTLY took care of it. Will keep pursuing this avenue.

Testing a Helix now - the Helix sounds fine. Nothing special, just running amp sims with cab sims disabled. I've tried all new cables as well - no improvement. I've got a ticket in with Fractal, and the unit's under warranty.

No, going to poweramp LINE IN via Output 1. I'm done messing with this. I've tried an FX block to test that option, it's the same thing. I even reset all system parameters, and checked a brand new, fully reset amp-only patch for level clipping. It just sounds terrible. So close to selling the...

HA! I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT! Was reconnecting everything - was running a dry track via the input, and plugged the 1/4 into INPUT 1 L - as I was plugging it in, it sounded AMAZING. So much more body, richness - it actually sounded like a true amp should sound. I left the 1/4 jack plugged 3/4...

Much appreciated, all. I'm starting over from scratch to be sure - I reloaded the firmware this morning, and I'll run by GC tomorrow to test out multiple cabs and configurations. I'm also going to try some new cables - it has to be something small I'm missing.

Good tip. I stripped everything down - just an amp block, the physical cab, and the power station. There's a "rattiness" to the sound I can't figure out. Like there's no "life" to the tone. All high-gainers sound and feel the same. Would someone mind taking a look at this patch and seeing...

Sorry, got tied up with work. I tried a Fryette Power Station, and played with a few settings based on your suggestions - much better, but still a lot of harshness. Noticing a lot of amp models sound very much the same when you take out the IR from the equation.

Trying a few - Dirty Shirley and BE100 v1. Running 2x Jensen Tornados. Tried a Mesa V30 Recto 2x12 I have lying around, same harshness. Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Nope. With the AX8 disconnected, Fractool still doesn't run. I think it's just this machine. Still doesn't run, even with elevated permissions and uac disabled. I'm going to reimage the machine tonight.

My Friedman ASM-12 Review

They're not, this has been discussed many times. Different drivers, birch ply construction. Same underlying concept and power amp. That's it.

Thanks, but I'm not using the USB output on the Axe - running the balanced output direct to the Scarlett > USB > PC. Also running Beta 19.01 on the Axe.
