    High volume vs Low volume

Hey Ionut, I agree with what Billbill said, and will add a few more comments. Even at the very same volume, FRFRs, PA speakers and guitar cab speakers each color your guitar sound in their own certain, specific way. What may sound "creamy" through a vintage Marshall cab may likely sound...

"Killin' Time" - Various Alnico V's into AxeFX II Friedman DS/HBE

Here's a new track recorded using a Gibson Les Paul Custom with rhythm tones supplied by a Burstbucker Pro in the bridge & a Fender CS Strat with DiMarzio Tone Zone in the bridge, both using Quantum modeling of the Friedman DS amp into Cab #62. The solo was courtesy of a PRS NS-14 with...

Really pleased with the AxeFx into a power amp / guitar cab

Sounds fantastic, and well played! I use a pair of Marshall 1960 Lead cabinets with my AxeFX II, and even at very low "condo friendly" volume, each new Quantum release further approaches true "amp in the room" response, feel and sound.

Hard Rock Album Project Completed - All Axe-FX II for electric guitars

Thank you very much! It was a lot of work, but also a heckuva lot of fun. I got to cover a lot of ground; raging electrics, plucky 6 string acoustics and an 8 string baritone acoustic that might just be the world's most difficult instrument to put down...;-)

Hard Rock Album Project Completed - All Axe-FX II for electric guitars

Thank you! That was the Friedman Dirty Shirley model from Q6. The intro/rhythm guitars are double tracked; Les Paul Custom with a Burstbucker Pro in the bridge on one side, and a Fender Strat with a DiMarzio Tone Zone in the bridge on the other. The solo in that song is a Friedman HBE model.

Hard Rock Album Project Completed - All Axe-FX II for electric guitars

Earlier this month, I released a 10 song album (do they even call it an "album" anymore?) project called "The Evolution Sessions: Volume IV". While multiple guitars were used during the recording (Les Paul Custom, Fender Strat, Ernie Ball Axis, PRS Custom 22 Soapbar), all guitar tones were...

CAB #62 VOTE NOW to SAVE (or not)

Whoever would have thought that a generic 4x12 cabinet would cause so much consternation amongst us tone freaks obsessing over the finer editable nuances of amplifiers that exist in rarified & coveted air? And yes, count me among those who don't want to see #62 go the way of the Line 6 Vetta...

Axe-Fx II "Quantum" Rev 7.00 Public Beta #2

A kind request to Fractal (I apologize if this request has already been addressed elsewhere in this thread...I found other examples of my following request, but didn't see an answer): Is it possible to have the #62 cabinet in its form prior to the Larry Mitchell update included in the firmware...

Halfway thru a recording project with Axe-FX...

...and it's been a lot of fun! I never cease to be amazed at how very expressive this little black box is. While my "go to" has been the Dirty Shirley model (which gives off a slightly different vibe when front loaded by an Ernie Ball Axis, humbuckered Fender Strat or Les Paul Custom), I'm...

Fender Strat/Gibson Les Paul Custom demos with Quantum 1.02

Thank you! The drums were created via EZ Drummer software; their proprietary midi files calling out to rather meticulously recorded acoustic drum samples. I love using it!

Fender Strat/Gibson Les Paul Custom demos with Quantum 1.02

Here are a few new demos with the Axe-FXII Quantum 1.02 FW. What continues to amaze me about this bottomless little black box of stunning tone is that fact that while it's endlessly tweakable, all tweaks remain, well, "musical". There is a useable (and mighty useful) sound to be gotten out of...

FW18.07 Dirty Shirley + PRS Custom 22 Soapbar Limited = Inspiration

I'm using a QSC GX5 to power my cabs...it does a great job!

FW18.07 Dirty Shirley + PRS Custom 22 Soapbar Limited = Inspiration

Indeed...a pair of JCM900 Lead-1960 cabs. At low volume, the stereo response is stunning...especially with an Enhancer block.

FW18.07 Dirty Shirley + PRS Custom 22 Soapbar Limited = Inspiration

Thank you very much; the funny thing is that what you saw was my vain attempt at simply standing and playing...one leg tends to anchor, and next thing you know, I'm swaying and doing squat lunges. Not one of my better moments... As for the fishy guitar faces, well...video don't lie...I got...

FW18.07 Dirty Shirley + PRS Custom 22 Soapbar Limited = Inspiration

The collision of the single coil snap & humbucker girth of P90s with the muscular and downright pissy-Plexi-on-protein-shakes tone of the Dirty Shirley model is truly a sound to behold. This thing positively demands that I keep working to be a better guitarist...and it's a challenge I gladly...

Friedman Dirty Shirley - Balance of Harmonics & Complex Chord Articulation

Thank you very much for the compliment, JV. I've attached the preset (called "Friedman Dirty Shirley"). The cab is an Ultra/Hi-Res 4x12 V30 model; Factory preset #62, using an R121 Ribbon Mic emulation.

Friedman Dirty Shirley - Balance of Harmonics & Complex Chord Articulation

Thank you very much for the compliment; I LOVE the tone. It didn't come through on the video as well as I'd liked, but there's a real depth and punch the bottom end. No boost; signal chain is: Wah-Amp-Cab (4x12 V30)-Reverb/Delay The BE has more gain than the DS, but, in the middle 4 - 6 range...

Friedman Dirty Shirley - Balance of Harmonics & Complex Chord Articulation

The Friedman Dirty Shirley model in FW18 Beta 7 negotiates the precarious balance between aggressive harmonics leaping right off the fretboard like paratroopers jumping bravely into harm's way and chimey, single note articulation which remains true even when playing complex suspended chords like...
