    @Rockwell The FR10 frequencies response is good but is going to lack power compared to the FR-12. I have 2 FR-12s side by side and it is quite good. I don’t think the V2 pre can address power issues as it is a preamp. You do have the bass knob. :)

    Wonder how that sounds compared to the “ Seymour Duncan Hot Rails single coil-sized humbucker “ in the Mike Stern Yamaha I have. I’ve got a nice tele and love the stock neck pickup but that humbucker on the Mike Stern model is great!

    To me, having high end audio components in the signal chain is a match made in heaven with a Fractal device. The only component I wonder about is the quality of the power amp. Time will tell I suppose. But I do like the speakers in these FRs.

    I had a 71 silverface and it had a master volume and boy that amp was clean at high volumes. I set the Master Volume at around 9….sounded good. :)

    @WKSmith I’m still a little confused by the XO for the Fender. In the initial threads I measured both speaker at the cone and tweeter at the cone through an RME Fireface UFX and an AKG451 mic. Any thoughts? Here’s the pics from the other thread:

    If Fender designed the cab based on thiele-small parameters and properly sized the vent, then it will be a crapshoot to get another speaker to “sound” the same in the lower frequency region.

    The speaker should move back and forth freely. If when you are moving the speaker cone you feel or hear it is rubbing inside, then the speaker cone was either not mounted properly or if the voice coil was over-heated it could distort the “innards” to the point it rubs.

    If you feel qualified: Gently pushing the speaker’s cone to detect voice coil rub would indicate this issue. Wash your hands thoroughly or better yet a pair of surgical gloves. Be careful.

    No reverb on signals. Mic and acoustic’s piezo, electric guitar and dry guitar recording…can’t get it to work. I have commented on this for several yesrs…as it is obviously the straightforward way to do it.

    You don’t remember the session where I demonstrated? Edited: I have tried so many times to use the Tone Match feature unsuccessfully for both acoustic and hollow body jazz guitars. What I finally ended up doing worked great, was cheap and the results were excellent.

    I have not had good luck doing this. Have you successfully done this recently yourself? I even went through it with @chris on one of his great youtube get togethers and he could not help me get it to work. It just seemed the tone match works for amps but creating an IR for an acoustic? I dunno. :)

    I have a pair of the akg 451’s…perfect for acoustic guitars. As good as it gets. I actually created 2 IRs with the 451s and the fishman piezo for my martin acoustic and mixed them into a preset of my fm9. It worked crazy good. :)

    I have two and I guess some are more hissy than others. I think mine measured lower than all others who measured so I am just fine. :) But…valid point for those who are disturbed by the hiss. Some were in a return window but those who bought early like me and others are screwed as far as I know...

    I liked the video and I thought he provided a clear explanation of the inside and outside notes for each method. And then played an example. In the context of the video, playing in then out then in was useful and well explained WRT “connecting”.

    I used to beat my head early on, but eventually what happens is an “ah hah” moment. You have to have all these disconnected pieces floating around and then, “Hey, I see how it connects!”. But yer right, chew slowly! :)

    The Temple Audio boards are perforated and the spacing of the perforation pattern lines up with the FM9’s mounting. So, plenty of ventilation and just screw it in…easy.

    Big company worker here too. We used to have more than one way to verify. I opted for the one where ”it” calls me and I press “X”...easy, cool. Now we have to use Authenticator and when I get the text message I have to unlock my phone and then enter the 2 digit code.

    That’s not exactly a bad question. The HF is extended by tweeter and the crossover point is lower which plays into the ”use your IR” argument. If they used a 12” guitar speaker and you could turn off the EQ on the speaker and the crossover…it may very well. But at that point you may as well buy...
