Should I have this guitar pleked or leveled?

We are truly spoiled by technology. The amount of in-depth analysis for each piece of the instrument is overwhelming. The amount of information you can learn on a daily basis about an instrument is seemingly never ending. It is no surprise to find so many like-minded people on the Fractal...

Should I have this guitar pleked or leveled?

The basic concept is the trajectory of the average string oscillation. Most players create a sine wave when the strings are plucked. The end points of the string usually have the smallest trajectory while the middle of the string oscillates further.

Should I have this guitar pleked or leveled?

I have scanned many leveling/fretting jobs that are VERY good. I’ve been surprised by nationally recognized individuals that have performed poorly on priceless instruments. I’ve also been surprised by a humble “average Joe” that consistently outperforms the “champion” techs. 98% of necks...

Should I have this guitar pleked or leveled?

I used to build in "fall away" in my refrets in the 2000s. Then I met Joe Glaser. After listening to Joe Glaser, looking at several Plek scans during the 2010s, I can confirm that "fall away" is a myth we were sold.

    Peterson Stomp Classic

I have missed the XLR out feature on the newer Peterson pedals. To be honest, once I had FAS gear it was irrelevant. I just did a show with a newer Peterson pedal into a separate DI box. It made me think of my Stompclasic. So I called Peterson last week to suggest the XLR out would be a...

Any examples of how to cut the shrill highs of just the B/High E strings?

Attaching the Pitch Follower to some of the treble controls on the amp can help. Treble, Presence etc. Im The amp Input EQ is very powerful when used with the PF. I would set up a narrow Q between 3k-5k and see how this sounds and adjust accordingly. This works really well for a slight top end...

    Tremolo springs a ringing

Is there a good primer on how guitar stem tracks relate to AXE FX?

Using PTs it is possible to line up the performance and get a good read on this. Certain passages will be easier than others. Some my not be possible. The TM is good for comparison purposes.
  47. skunc

Is there a good primer on how guitar stem tracks relate to AXE FX?

take the original stem and a recording of an attempted recreation and flip phase on one. Try to get as much cancellation as possible. -40dB is a good goal.
  48. skunc

Is there a good primer on how guitar stem tracks relate to AXE FX?

(if) The entire band (keys, guitars, drums) can accurately reproduce all the original tone from the album, the live performance can sound like the album. While the TM block is helpful I would recommend using it as a last resort or as an A/B to help dial in a traditional Cab Block.

    Optimal Les Paul setup tips

These specs seem a little bit high. It will all depend on your right hand style of playing. If you hit hard you may need to keep it where it is. If you are a light handed player or you have a sensitive right hand technique you can go a little lower and straighten the neck to .08"or straighter...
  56. skunc

    Optimal Les Paul setup tips

If you fret the first fret and the buzzing ceases, it is most likely the nut. If the buzzing continues as you fret up the neck the issue is most likely at the saddle.

Bending a string on a FR equipped guitar, is this correct?

Floating Floyd-yes. Top flush mount Floyd (down only) depends if the tension of the springs is enough to offset the string/strings you're are bending. I believe you would need to move the string slightly further while bending due to the bridge saddles moving slightly closer to the nut as the...
