Setting up an AxeFX III to work with the FBC1010 Controller with the EurekaProm Chip

Thanks! I used that for a while but I ended up going to the UNO chip, because it didn't allow me to set it up the way I wanted. I know a lot of people like it though. It's a good setup if you like to use the looper and don't mind the preset - scenes tap dance.

7 string vs 6 string war!

I have three 7 strings but I don't play them as often as I do my 6s. Generally if I'm playing something that only requires a 6, that's what I'll use. My only bass is a 5 string though so I still tend to stay familiar enough with the low B in either case.

I had that issue with my Windows 7 laptop. After a while it wouldn't stay connected for more than 10 or 15 minutes after a while. I tried all sorts of things, uninstalling, reinstalling etc.. Finally I had to switch to a different port finally and that took care of it.

In spite of all of the benefits of the Axe III, I preferred the vintage feel and tone of the Axe II buttons. It was more of a "TICK-tock" sound, vs the more even "click-click" sound of the III. Maybe it could be addressed in the next firmware update?

You could probably do it with the native prom or the UNO prom. I use the UNO, but I haven't tried to set it up that way. I use up and down for bank (in groups of 5) then the top row for preset select, bottom row for scene select (I set my presets to only use 5 scenes).

Headphone Output pop when powering down

IIRC, the soft power up only applies to the rear outputs, not the headphones. I could be wrong though, I will have to check it out the next time I have headphones handy.

How to treat controls that are not on the modeled amp?

If you look on the pdf linked here (Yek's Guide to the Fractal Audio Amp Models), the first page that talks about the amps gives an overview of how they are set up. Still applies to the Axe III. Basically, one way to describe it is that anything that is not on the original amp is artificially...

USB Dry Signal Latency Question

I have heard those are pretty decent for their price range as far as hardware modelers go but it's not really what I'm looking for, and it's more expensive than the Bias software. Plus, if I were going to carry that around I might as well bring my Axe III lol! I was thinking something more...

USB Dry Signal Latency Question

I was able to use my dry signal from the Axe III to try out Bias FX last night (Bless me Father Cliff, for I have sinned). I was pleased to discover that aside from the noticeable latency, it actually sounded pretty good. Generally not as good as my III, but good enough to live with for travel...

Input levels spike to red with 0 input gain

From what I have read, 18V mod doesn't really do anything for SD Blackouts, only for EMGs. I think what is being seen is compression that is inherent in the pickup design.

Not even close. Apple released a new iPod with upgraded cpu, features, memory etc. about every 18 months on average. The old classics used the same, or very similar ARM CPUs for most of their production cycle, but they were no where near the top of the iPod line by the end of that timespan.
