Metal guys, PAmp+Cab/FRFR? Either/or, or something that's skull crushing heavy!!

Running Axe FX 2 into effects loop return, master volume/tone knobs on amp do nothing

This is just normal operation of the amp. When plugging into the effects loop you are bypassing the preamp. The only knobs that would work might be a "presence" or "resonance" knob.....

Rewire Orange 4x12 from 16ohm to 4ohm

I think you would need to know the impedance of the speakers in the Orange cabinet. The impedance listed on the jack plate would only be correct on a 4x12 with 16 ohm speakers if I understand things correctly...

These are my favorite speakers! Like already stated they are the predecessor to the K-100. From what I understand they are the same exact speakers. I have them in a 4x12 cab that is just thunderous!

What makes a cab good?

I built mine myself and to be honest I could have bought one much cheaper. It sounds incredible and is built to last a lifetime and I will never part with it but I wouldn't ever build one again. By the time you buy quality components (birch ply..etc) you could have easily bought a new cab. Here...

Reduce the sound of the pick

I was battling with this also recently and played with all the settings to get it under control and couldn't. I finally got frustrated and pulled the original amp (5153) out of the closet and plugged it in and it was even worse! Conclusion... recently changed to the tortex max grip stiffo picks...

I got most of the hardware at reliable hardware but got the tolex from somewhere else I can't remember now. just countersunk the back panel and left just a tiny bit extra to compensate for the thickness of the tolex.. for the baffle i just made it a tiny bit long so the back panel "pushes"...

Perhaps AxeFx meaning of "preset" could be defined better?

I grew up with all the old Digitech rack gear and they used the term "Preset" so that's what I'm most familiar with but the word "patch" means the same darn thing so it really is a non issue if a piece of gear uses that terminology.... Personally I think the word "preset" makes more sense...lol

Using JVM as Power Amp

when you run the Axe this way it takes some serious EQ'ing IMHO. It's much more difficult than dialing in a sound using FRFR but I think in the long run it sounds the best. Don't be afraid to really get down and dirty with the EQ and you may even need to add a PEQ in the signal chain to get it...

I also use a Carvin TS100 and although it's not as neutral as my Carvin DCM1540L its pretty Neutral for a tube amp. It also has a complete different feel when the rig is cranked compared to the SS amp....

This happened to me last firmware update also... I just tried it again and all was well. I haven't upgraded to 18.12 yet because to be honest, I've just been so busy playing I didn't feel like tweaking right now. I'm on firmware 18.07 still and have just been enjoying the hell out of it.

I've always had the same problem with the Ultra now the 2. At first everything sounds really thin with the cab sim off. After you tweak it though it will sound better with the cab sim off than on. Try creating a sound with the cab sim on, preferably with studio monitors or good headphones etc...

I don't doubt it one bit! I'm pretty sure my pair of Xitone 1x12 cabs are as loud as my 4x12 and they are definitely louder than my 2x12 guitar cabinet! I don't think Volume will ever be an issue with these cabs...

New Xitone Cabs

My two new Xitone cabs just delivered from Fed Ex! "Thanks Mick" Haven't had a chance to try them yet because I'm still at work but they look good sitting on my workbench....lol. build quality looks excellent and the line x coating looks like it will take the many years of use I plan...

Mine didn't... It shipped with version 16 something or another "can't remember" but when I got it 17.4 had been out for awhile so I did the update before I even plugged it in..

Is the Axe FX 2 the same sound quality as the XL?

I just bought my Mark II a few weeks back and really wish they offered that deal when I bought mine! I don't think you can go wrong buying it that way and I would have bought the bundle also.

which Gator Rack to get?

The Axe Fx is 2 spaces The matrix is 2 spaces the furman is 1 space I would get a 6 space rack and a 1 space blank panel.

TOTAL newbie question!

Speaking from experience about the TS100 do yourself a favor and purchase something like the Carvin DCM1540L instead. I have the TS100 and while it sounds ok with the Axe I just got the 1540L and it just works better with it. The tS100 adds a certain fizz or something when using the power amp...

Using Cab Block with Guitar Cabs

I tried it both ways and always go back to turning the cab sims off! I create a sound on the studio monitors first and then when using my cabinets i put a peq in the chain and dial it in that way... Also I found if using my tube amp I will turn off the power amp modeling or it gets "fizzy"...

New User Advice Needed

Just patch it in the loop and set the levels! Once you have heard how good it sounds in the loop you'll begin to wonder "what else can this thing do" and you'll be sank in at that point...lol.

with Axe-FX Ultra

I had an Ultra but sold it to fund the II and still miss it! It had a "smoothness" to the sound that was just pleasing to the ear. I've just about got the II dialed in now but it's taken me weeks upon weeks and now there's a new firmware update coming so I'll probably get to start over...lol...
