The ML Amped Roots is phenomenal for high gain IMO.

Connecting to Audio Interface While Direct Monitoring

So I am currently using my Axe FX direct outs into a Tascam US16x08 for recording. I am getting new monitors in the near future (looking at the Kali LP-6) and would like to also run the Axe FX through the monitors while recording. I have noticed some latency with using input monitoring in my DAW...

Van Halen MXR Phase 90 settings

Hey Ray, The post below has the presets for the EVH phaser and flanger plus a ton of other blocks, was a huge guide for my presets https://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/block-presets-for-effects.137863/#post-1635181

I have always noticed a large decrease in volume when converting from tone match to a cab. Is there any tricks to get the volume closer to the volume of the stock/third party cabs?

Advanced parameters for the incorrigible tweaker

For my high gain sounds I like to bump up the XFORMER MATCH up a bit, hard to describe what it does but it seems to just give me more. I also play around with the variac too, typically lowering it 10%-15%. Cliffs character suggestions work well for me too I also run a gate after the amp, but...

Can an iPhone play audio into the Axe USB?

Are you using the FX loop in the Axe? If not, maybe put the FX loop block on a different row and run it to the output?

    Gain Stacking

Totally agree, not only does the pushed input have an effect but the filtering that the overdrive pedals do makes a huge impact

    Gain Stacking

Hers a tutorial I found for a SRV type sound using 2 tube screamers. I don't typically gain stack so I may be the wrong guy to answer but it sounds like his amp is very very clean with minimal drive coming from the OD's. The second drive comes in around 14:20

momentary as the effect will stay on for as long as you hold down the switch. Once you take your foot off the switch the effect turns off.

    It always make me chuckle

I remember about hearing this when researching the Axe FX II. First thing once I got it was tape over the ethernet port with about 10 strips of hockey tape (10 may be an overkill, but I'd probably find a way to break it with less). Got the tip from @chris

    QUESTION ABOUT BLOCK PLACEMENT!

A rule of thumb I found is that anything after the amp is much more pronounced than if placed before, especially for flangers/phasers, and as mention before delays. While on the subject of routing, I've found using the side chain option useful if the block has it, has the benefit of moving...

Using looper block with guitar and synth

To clarify, the looper will only play the synth? If thats the case I found this on the FX Loop Block wiki that I think will solve your problem. https://wiki.fractalaudio.com/axefx2/index.php?title=FX_Loop_block Connect the external gear to Input 2. Octave divider low cut??

I'll have to check it when I'm home to see if mine works. Maybe you could run the octave parallel with mix 100% then add a PEQ after to cut some lows?

    What's your favorite amp model?

For heavier tones I've been in love with the 5153 Blue 50w. Cleans I tend to stick with the Shiver clean but Hook amps have been finding their way into some of my presets. Friedman HBE is great for dirty tones

    Good clean tones?

I love the Shiver Clean amp for crystal/80s clean sounds. Don't remember the cab I'm using but it may just be the factory preset

How many patches do you all use?

Seem to be in the majority here. Typically one kitchen sink preset, varies depending on the mood. However I have a few that are for specific songs of effects that I cant fit in a normal preset (ie, a few ambient clean parts with crazy delays/reverbs).

    Sooooo...what are you express(ion)ing?

Wow that's a very interesting idea. Pretty much tripled the amount of drive tones in a single preset!

    Gate Expander question. Rhythm/Lead settings

I typically run two gates in my presets, the input gate and one gate block. I only use the gate block for rhythm tones and turn it off for clean/lead sounds. The input gate I set fairly conservative so that does a good job of cleaning everything out without choking the notes.

Where should the noise gate be placed?

The side chain selects what the gate threshold "listens to". By setting the side chain to input the gate threshold will open and close based on the dry guitar signal but the actual gating will affect the signal after the amp. I have taken a screenshot of Axe Edit which shows where the side...

Where should the noise gate be placed?

I set the input gate fairly subtle. I put another after the amp block. If you set the side chain to "input" you can get the gate really tight.

How many expression pedals are you using?

Only 2 right now: Wah and Whammy/others. Thinking of adding a third for volume or maybe delay trails

Try putting the gate after the amp and set the side chain select to Input One. That's typically how I run mine these days

    PRO TOOLS IR plugin????

I've seen some other IR loaders online. You'd have to convert the syx files to a wav though and I don't know if they make any in Rtas format. Worst case you could always try reamping the DI through the Axe.

    Unique/psychedelic/experimental effects in the axefx

One cool one i like to do is run a pitch block in parallel, mix at 100%, set to an octave up. After that, I run a reverb and a trem with a square wave, depth maxed. It creates a cool rhythmic pad under a slower single note line I'll load up a preset later today, sounds great with a...

Gating high gain patches - where, what type, and how are you using it?

On all of my high gain patches (pretty much just a rhythm and lead) are through the input. The rhythm patches are set with a higher threshold and using the intelligent. The lead is a little bit lower to let out more of the notes. I also have a gate after the amp that i put on for some more...
