Occasional Noisy Input

Question Regarding Bot/Backup Restore/Firmware

I believe I already know the answer, but I've never restored to a backup state before. If I were to do that now, A) would I need to install the applicable Firmware first, B) would the backup apply to either Firmware, C) or would the old firmware somehow be embedded into the backup?

Potential Midi drag when using Axe FX with Pro Tools (perhaps other DAW's as well)
