Message me about introductory and regular rates. There are a lot of great guitarists and teachers on this forum. I'll make the first lesson affordable so you can evaluate. I've been doing this a long time and I know it's important to get a teacher that's right for you. I use fractal products...

Axe-Fx II "Ares" Rev 1.03 Firmware Release

If it helps anyone to know, I’m updated to Ares 1.03 and Axe-Edit 3.14.5 and I’ve successfully moved presets with Axe-Manage without an issue. All good in this neck of the woods. Everything I’ve auditioned so far sounds great. Thanks @FractalAudio and the whole team, best product I’ve owned.

Now taking suggestions on Function Footswitch assignments

I'm super stoked on all these suggestions. So next Orchestra Pit gig I'm definitely going to try some variation/combination of these. This show, I'm just using a head-stock tuner and forgetting about tap. Gotta cut my losses and move forward. However, definitely keep all these suggestions...

Great suggestion. I have in fact considered it, and would certainly consider this in the future. In this case, downbeat’s coming up and I don’t have time to reinvent the wheel.

Now taking suggestions on Function Footswitch assignments

This is all really great feedback. I'll weigh it before making a call. My current workaround was to just bail on a tuner mute (I can spare a preset in my bank for that) - and in this show there really isn't a need for tap tempo delay anywhere. I'm just accustomed to having it handy on the last...

Now taking suggestions on Function Footswitch assignments

I use the AX8 for Musical Theater gigs primarily . . . and for reasons I'm not going to over-explain it seems I really need to be in Sticky Preset/Bank mode. Is it possible to still have a Tuner/Tap Tempo switch when you're in this mode? If so the answer is escaping me.(I'm looking at the...

    Carrying case?

I really like the MONO Club 2.0 - but I'm in the "no floorboard, no FX8 (just AX8)" camp. My AX8 is specifically for music theater gigs and I need to take up as little space as possible (those of you in the know will understand, orchestra pits are brutally tight). I can fit all my cables and...

How to get that weird djent high note tone

It's a harmony. You can try preprogramming a pitch block to do a half (or whole) step harmony, but it won't sound exactly like this. There won't be a substitute for tracking harmonies tightly no matter how good your gear is.

    Opeth material for tonematch

http://www.opeth.com/component/k2/item/44-ghost-reveries-equipment They don't itemize what amp is used for what tracks, but my assumption is that they used Laneys for the leads and Rectos for the rhythm.

What amp model is closest to the Mesa Roadster

I own a Roadster (like another replier), have used it for 6 years. Vintage or modern, use RECTO2 Vintage or Modern (orange for channel 3, red for channel 4). Play with the supply sag, YMMV.
  12. frankyandreas

Which Amp Model is closest to Mesa Rectoverb?

Yep, lower the supply sag on a recto. I owned a 2-channel, in fact it was my main amp for over a decade (even in my avatar). I currently own a Roadster, I've played plenty of 3Channels and plenty of RectoVerbs. However, I'm not an amp tech, so take this opinion with a grain of salt.

Audio interface or axe fx II

In theory you shouldn't have to worry about it, as long as you mute the track you're recording to. My problem is probably that I had the buffer size set too low (because I wasn't paying attention).
  14. frankyandreas

Audio interface or axe fx II

    This is highly likely.
  15. frankyandreas

Audio interface or axe fx II

I find that if I use the Axe as my interface it SOUNDS better, but I get way more skipping and other audio artifacts. I'm not even using an interface as nice as the RME (M-Audio ProFire2626) and the DAW processing is still smoother with my dedicated audio interface. It's a pickle.

Guitar Lesson recorded on AxeFx II XL.

Not yet. I put off doing full production lessons for years, now that I'm finally doing it the process is really slow. I have the next three lessons planned (they're all part of the same lesson). I predict I'll get about 6 done a year (hopefully more) at this rate. At some point I'll probably...

    So frustrated....

I know this isn't going to be a popular opinion, but it's what works for me: I've been in *comparable if not *similar situations. There's always a temptation to prove how versitile and (let's face it, incredible sounding) the axe fx is. However sometimes it's just easier to use the damn tube...

    Feedback issue

My bad (again), I just realized you're using an AxeFx II Mark II? I might be getting the actual model wrong, but I'm on an XL, and I don't have Fractool. So I can't upload (or see) your presets. I'll stop screwing with your thread, someone on here will be able to help. Good luck!
  20. frankyandreas

    Feedback issue

I promise to respond soon (if someone doesn't beat me to it). It's easy. But basically, 1) put the "FX LOOP" block BEFORE the cab block in your grid. 2) run the 2ndary outputs to your (this is what's coming out of the loop) to your power amp. No cab modeling. 3) primary outputs to the...

Sorry, I just reread your setup. You want to disengage poweramp modeling. Very sorry, 9/10 I read everything twice before replying. Didn't this time.
  22. frankyandreas

    Feedback issue

So I'd still experiment with turning your "master" pot down in the amp block, (same can go for gain and drive), and compensate for volume loss with the "level" pot, also in amp block. If it's still feeding back there may be another issue.
  23. frankyandreas

    Feedback issue

I also have not had a chance to check out your presets, but: Feedback can still be a problem even if you expertly dial your gate(s). You can set up your Grid so that your output to your poweramp won't be colored by your cab block, and your cab block would output to a direct line. It's fairly...

  25. frankyandreas

    Feedback issue

What @paranoid said. It's hard to remember (even after years of use) but high master volume on high gain blocks will simulate the effect of those settings, even if your solid state power amp ISNT oppressively loud. It can still feedback just like you have a (sic) 5150 dimed.

Food for abstract thought concerning IIC+ (and the difficulties dialing therein)

I more or less agree with everything you said (one caveat being that you can dial good metal tones with patience) - but mostly I'm just saying we run into tonal limitations with our hands before we run into limitations with the Axe.

It replaced my former pedal board, but the way that I'm doing it puts me in the minority: I run an FCB1010 and just do straight presets and not scenes (I know how to program scenes and the X/Y states, I just prefer having my tones dialed and faily compartmentalized: I can't get the same tone...

Help need a non gritty clean tone

If you find that the amp won't clean up to your liking, you can taper down the "Input Trim" pot. Also, on your amp block you can dial back the "Master" pot and instead use "Level" for Volume. This helps for getting 80's hyper-clean.
