How did you learn to improv?

Here's how I got my start; I'd pick a simple but cool backing track, start with simple improv around the basic pentatonic scale (Blues is awesome, it pretty much goes with anything) and then I'd slowly start branching into more minor or major tones from the pentatonic scale.

Id just go with something close to a 5150 and add a lot of reverb to the leads. But then again i never cared for the lo-fi stuff anyways haha

I'm trying to recreate what happens on guitar at about 0:53 seconds. As you can hear, a lowpass filter/flanger hits the guitar and it gradually fades out after about 8 seconds. If anyone can help me with this I would very much appreciate it :)

Free plugin recommendations pls

Hey guise, what are some good free vst/vsti plugins? I record and mix mostly metal/rock but I like to incorporate orchestral strings and other sounds. Some cool sounding synths and such would be nice also.

Mexican Fender Standard Telecaster - opinions?

IDK if I've said this but I plan on using this PC for gaming (Nothing crazy, mostly games like LoL and Civ 5). Not too set on having a rig to run high settings with super good FPS although I'd like to be able to run these games on mid settings smoothly.
