MFC not responding to switching scenes! SOS!

Thing is, I haven’t changed anything.. The laptop is hooked up to an interface which I have connected to the Axe with a MIDI cable going from the interface’s Out to the Axe’s In. It’s not sending any commands or anything, just synced up for tempo. It’s set to Channel 1, I believe, not Omni...

MFC not responding to switching scenes! SOS!

It happened again tonight. I tried a different cable too. I was on Scene 8, and went to hit Scene 4, and when I did, the screen said “Scene 4” for a second after I hit the switch, but never actually changed to that scene. It stayed on Scene 8. It’s like the MFC is trying to switch scenes but...

I did try different cables yes. Anyone other ideas?

MFC not responding to switching scenes! SOS!

Hey guys! My Axe-FX or MFC isn’t working right and it’s ruined two live shows so far. I’m on tour and have to fix this by tomorrow! I have the controller set up for scenes and sometimes when I hit a switch to change scenes, let’s say to go from 1 to 4 for example, it’ll either not respond at...

    Bug? Front Screen Spazzing Out

Hey guys, Wondering if anyone else has seen this, and what it's from, or what I can do to prevent it. My Axe-FX was plugged into the MFC controller as usual, and my computer was hooked up to an interface that was connected to the AXE via MIDI to change scenes and whatnot. Anyway, when I...

    Help choosing Bare Knuckle pickups.

You should email them. Tell them everything you can about your guitar and what you want out of the pickups. (What sound you're going for, what you don't like about your pickups now, sound clips, etc.) Their support team is extremely helpful!

Guitar levels for re-amping if DI isn't from the Axe's dry out?

Edit: If I DO track the DI signal on the USB Dry Out, and then just zoom in on waveforms to edit properly, when I go back in to re-amp, do I keep the fader at 0?

    Very specific noise gate theory/questions...

Think simplistically! Each noise gate cuts noise from whatever's "behind" it. The one in your input is cutting out the noise from your guitar, and the one at the end is cutting noise from the things between the first gate and itself. So even though you have one in front, if there are effects...

Guitar levels for re-amping if DI isn't from the Axe's dry out?

I've been using the Axe-Fx for a while, but this is my first time re-amping. I understand a lot of people will record dry signals with the Axe via USB, which are very quiet, and then re-amp, but I have a different method so I'm not sure how to adjust the DI's before I re-amp. I know this sounds...

beginner: save for the tap dancing set up or the axe-fx set up?

Oh, and now I'm using a Matrix GT1000FX power amp (which I love) into an Orange 4x12, though I'll probably be getting rid of the cab soon.
  11. CraigJohnsJr

beginner: save for the tap dancing set up or the axe-fx set up?

If you're a beginner, you'll probably get a middle-of-the-road amp at first. Eventually you'll want to upgrade to a better head, or maybe two heads, and then a better cab, then better pedals, then more pedals, then a bigger pedal board, then more power supplies, then you'll want a rack, etc etc...

    Interface/Preamp/DI Box - Assistance Needed.

Hey all, So I'm looking to upgrade my recording gear. Right now I have a pretty basic set up. AKG c214 (vocals) or guitar/bass direct in to a M-Audio Profire 610, which goes to my iMac running Logic X and a pair of Adam F5s. I don't need more than a few inputs/outputs, as I'm not tracking...

    Wah always on... sorta. Help!

I think Bakerman is right here. I'm 99% sure I tried notalemming's idea in the past with no success. Sidivan, would panning left or right effect my sound if it's running stereo through FOH?

    Wah always on... sorta. Help!

Ah, so the auto-engage function will allow the wah to work despite it's block being on or off in a particular scene. I see. I figured it that might have been a factor here, but I was hoping there'd be another solution. I'll just set my wah preset to it's own scene, and learn to tap dance a bit...

    Wah always on... sorta. Help!

Hey guys, I have a bit of an issue here. I set up a preset where in one scene, I use a wah, and in another scene, I use a whammy. Both scenes use the same pedal. For some reason, the wah always works when I touch the pedal. Meaning, in Scene 1, where there's no wah or pitch block engaged, if...

    Logic 9 vs Logic X

Basically... Logic X is much nicer to look at, especially if you're working for long hours. I remember being a little frustrated finding things when I first switched over to X, but to be honest, I don't even remember what those things were. I adapted pretty quickly and I think you will too.

MASSiVE's Music Video for "Still Alive" (Joey Sturgis / Sam Link)

Hey all! My band just released our music video for "Still Alive" on Revolver Magazine! The song was produced by Joey Sturgis (Asking Alexandria, The Devil Wears Prada, Attack Attack!, Of Mice and Men, Emmure, etc.) and the video was directed by Sam Link (Sleeping With Sirens, Memphis May Fire...

    Gibson Price Increase

I completely agree. I've always wanted a Gibson, but never in my life have I taken one off the wall and thought "this is the one". They're very inconsistent, and in my opinion, not worth the money at all. My ESP Eclipse II Standard blows away any Custom LP I've ever played. With that said, maybe...

I don't get new, relic guitars.

Also, the argument of "Would you buy a beaten up car," or, "Would you buy a beaten AXE-FX?" seems like it's a bit of a stretch.
  21. CraigJohnsJr

I don't get new, relic guitars.

Some people like red guitars. Some people like blue guitars. Some people like guitars that look old. Who cares? It's a cool look. I don't think anyone is trying to fool their audience into thinking they've been playing that 2013 model for 20 years. I think they like the way it looked and sounded...

    It Never Fails

I'm excited for the extra EQ options, but I was hoping there'd be more! I heard somewhere that 15 would have a fix for the latency issues in the pitch block. The droptune function is completely unusable, which is a major bummer for me. Fingers crossed for another update!

Tip of the day (or night actually)

That's an awesome idea. There should be a thread for high quality dry recordings. Each recording should be posted with an description of the guitar, woods, pickups, interface, tempo, etc.
  24. CraigJohnsJr

How do you drop your pitch a half or whole step?

I wonder what the latency is like. It has always been a problem with the Digitech Whammy pedals, but I'd imagine that eliminating delay would be a focal point in creating this pedal... If anyone's tried it, speak up!

Taking the leap--picking up a IIXL today. Now what else do I need?

I'd suggest using a power conditioner to help protect you from unexpected electricity surges or poorly grounded venues. You can fit the AXE, a power conditioner, and a front panel in a 4 space case. If you're touring, definitely find a shock proof case, if not, don't stress it. As far as the...

    Practice AXE FX Hardware

I think that's a cool idea! Or maybe something that's sort of a blank canvas, like a memory card/stomp box.. So you could make your patches on the AXE, pick 5 to take with you, and then put them on a little stomp box that you can bring to practice or whatever. Each stomp scrolls to the next one...

How do you drop your pitch a half or whole step?

Simeon's trick sounds really interesting.. I'll definitely be trying that tonight! I've heard positive things about the Morpheus DropTune and the Mooer Pitch Box pedals, but if they're anything like the Whammy IV's droptune function, count me out! I guess I'll just keep hoping Cliff figures it...

How do you drop your pitch a half or whole step?

I play primarily in Drop B (B-F#-B-E-G#-C#). I intend to use the pitch shift to play a few newer songs we have in Drop A. I wonder how the Robot Guitar would handle that!

How do you drop your pitch a half or whole step?

-also, where are you putting the pitch shift in your signal chain?
  30. CraigJohnsJr

How do you drop your pitch a half or whole step?

I'm interested in an answer outside of switching guitars. While it'd be nice to have a guitar for every tuning, gear adds up fairly quickly when you're traveling, so IMO, the less the better! My XL is coming in today, so I'm sure I'll find my own answer relatively soon, but do you all think the...

    Has ESP lost their mind...?

I have two ESP Eclipse II Standards. One is the most amazing guitar I have ever owned, and the other is the second most amazing guitar I have ever owned. It was my understanding that the new E-II series are basically rebranded LTD Elites (which would explain a drop in price), while the ESP...

    MFC-101 Pedalboard / ATA Case - Experience?

Hey all! Thanks for taking the time to help me out here. I'm looking to get a pedal board and ATA case for my MFC-101 and one or two expression pedals. I'm only using one now, but it doesn't hurt to leave room for another one down the line if needed. 24" x 12" should do it. So far I've...

Now how am I supposed to feel comfortable purchasing the XL after a quote like this!? Will any of those six products surpass the XL anytime soon? I'm sure one is the expression pedal and one is the FX-8, but the other 4... Sounds like one there's an AXE 3, or maybe a floorboard amp modeler in there!

I don't think there's a single "right" way to go with this, but I'll share my experiences. I wanted a Les Paul since I was a little kid, but when I had to chance to get one, I totally bailed out. I went to several music stores and tried every Les Paul in there. Traditionals, Standards, Customs...

MAC - Recording software to use?

Logic Pro X. Simple, easy, but definitely effective. It doesn't feel like a $150 program. Lots of synths, loops, and quality effects. -And, not for nothing, it looks nice visually as well, which is a bonus when you're tracking, editing, mixing, etc for hours on end..

Axe II XL vs Mark II

Agreed! I've spent hundreds on cables just because they're "quieter"... I'd only be letting myself down by not getting the XL! This might be slightly unrelated, but does anyone know if the XL is bigger than the II depth-wise?
