Is anyone else not blown away by the rotary speaker in the AXE?

I thought the rotary was improved a lot a few firmwares back. I like it fine, after tweaking a bit. That said, I haven't heard any sim sound exactly like a real Leslie mic'd up, IMO.

Front panel adjustment on the fly

I have an Axe II and this is one of the reasons it now lives in my studio rig. Powerful, great FX. Just not quick to edit things on the fly on the gig. Got frustrated one too many times, I guess.

    Apparent UI Complaints

Like another poster said, the real crunch is editing on the fly. Some of us play gigs that you can't totally pre-program. There is where the AxeII's little green screen and many keystrokes in the dark becomes a tough situation. Big bright screen and easy one or two touch access to a block make...

I have done 4CM with Mark V and Mark 5:25. I found that even with humbuster cables I needed an additional iso transformer from AxeII out to amp input to eliminate squeals and hums when the amp was set for high gain.. Suhr Iso Boost did the trick. I would miss using the having the delays, etc...

Axe fx ii. Two weeks in.

We might want to define "processors". But as far as amp sims, modelers, sure, I can go with that. Or at least, if not lower, no higher than.:) The latency spec of the AxeII steered me toward it instead of the other options available at the time.
  7. G

Axe fx ii. Two weeks in.

My headphones feed a close mic'd signal that is less than a foot from the source, so, that's a true statement. And playing on stage without in-ears provides additional sonic cues that make standing away from an amp acceptable, natural.
  8. G

Axe fx ii. Two weeks in.

I'm pretty sensitive to latency, and I respectfully request giving the new guy the benefit of the doubt. Don't assume that it's not perceivable because it doesn't bother you. The Axe has lower latency than some other processors, but since it uses digital conversion and processing, it's still...

Global input volume-any adjustable parameters? (such as pedal damping)

Decided to start a new thread since this developed from my "zipper noise" thread and could get lost. I discovered that assigning my vol pedal/ controller to "global input volume" eliminates the zipper noise. But the response feels sluggish, like the volume block with controller damping set to 20...

zipper noise vol block ext. controller-fixable or live with it?

Well, good you don't, or your settings don't make it show up for you. I just discovered that assigning my pedal to "global input volume" gets rid of the zipper noise for me, so I'm thinking it must be related to the MIDI spec/controller stuff I mentioned. However, it feels like global input...
  11. G

zipper noise vol block ext. controller-fixable or live with it?

I realize this may have to do with the MIDI spec, or how it is implemented. Guessing it has to do with how many steps are in the range from 0-127 of a controller and how they may be in relatively coarse increments at the low end of the scale vs. finer increments in the range where most...
  12. G

zipper noise vol block ext. controller-fixable or live with it?

It only shows up because of where my volume block is in the chain. Before the drive block(s) and amp input.
  13. G

zipper noise vol block ext. controller-fixable or live with it?

Made no difference in the zipper noise, just how quickly the volume changed when the pedal is moved.
  14. G

zipper noise vol block ext. controller-fixable or live with it?

Reversing the T and R on the EB 25k volume pedal gave me a much better response, going into the Axe back panel jack. Tweaked the mid point of the curve and it's very smooth. However, the whole point of this was zipper noise. So now I know the zipper noise is not caused by the CAE controller...
  15. G

zipper noise vol block ext. controller-fixable or live with it?

The KORG TRS can't be reversed that easily but I'll try the EB and report back. Then we might know if the zipper noise is CAE related.
  16. G

zipper noise vol block ext. controller-fixable or live with it?

Interesting, but the graphs actually seem to be the opposite of what the pedal is doing in my rig. The EB 25k through the CAE expression input to the Axe has a very smooth sweep from zero to max, with no scaling adjustment needed. Into the Axe with a TRS cable, tip to in ring to out, it comes on...
  17. G

zipper noise vol block ext. controller-fixable or live with it?

Hmm. Thanks. I did mess with the scaling to get something almost as smooth as my EB thru the CAE MIDI controller. Just couldn't get them to go to zero volume. I'll see if restricting the mechanical range does help me with the pedal direct into the Axe.
  18. G

zipper noise vol block ext. controller-fixable or live with it?

Well, not so good. Both KORG EXP-2 and EB 25k wouldn't calibrate very well. Couldn't get either of them to reliably go to zero volume, so I couldn't test for zipper noise. So with my present gear, the EB->CAE RS-10-> controlling an EXT controller on the Axe is my best volume pedal option, even...
  19. G

zipper noise vol block ext. controller-fixable or live with it?

Kind of old. CAE RS-10 single expander with EB Jr 25k pedal. I should try the pedal, or a real expression pedal if needed, in the jack on the back of the Axe II and see if it's any better. But I currently use that jack with a momentary for tap tempo and wouldn't want to give that up. Don't know...

zipper noise vol block ext. controller-fixable or live with it?

I did a search and found rather inconclusive threads from 2012. I run the vol block post compressor, pre drive(s) and amp, to have hands-free "clean up" of distorted tones. Zipper noise is really obvious coming slowly up from zero, especially with gainer tones. I'm estimating at least 9 or so...

Quick control knobs are not user-assignable, true?

So there's my answer. Oh Well. FWIW I was using the word "global" to refer to making a submix group of several FX levels controlled by one knob or other controller. So not truly "global". I guess it's going to be expression pedal or nothing.

It appeared so from the edit menu on the Axe but I couldn't seem to make them stick. Specifically I'm trying to control the level of Delay1 and Multi delay1 with the same knob, D. In Axe Edit it appeared to work, but in reality it did not. In the Edit Modifier window for Delay 1 level I...

question on centering guitar sound :confusion:

Just a guess here. Maybe your delay levels are too high? It's difficult to tell without hearing an example. Reverb will tend to push a sound "back" and away from you in a mix, so you might try putting reverb after delays only, and your dry guitar tone front and center.

    P90's horrible humm

I'm a big fan of Kinman. Yeah, single coil pickups anywhere near computers, transformers, any EMF will be noisy. The old neon bar signs were really bad.

    Poltergeist Pig Factory patch

I like the wacky presets. In the fine tradition of E-H and Eventide. Might not get a lot of use, but fun anyhow.
