Crate CR 110 Amp with Axe FX

Dargor, yes you can use the crate amp. When I visit family, i run in through the front of a cheap solid state fender. Some presets sound really great, others sound awful. Its hit or miss. Clean tones will likely sound much better than distorted ones. You can always get the crate if the shipping...

White Lion's Hungry Intro and Rhythm 5153 FW19

Axe-Fx II Firmware 19.00 Public Beta

19 substantially changes the overall sound. I will have to play around for awhile...most of my presets sound flubby on the bottom end. A little tweaking and I'll get stuff sounding good again. Thanks Cliff for the overall improvements.

Gritty Sounding Clean Tones

The axe fx is full of great clean tones - sounds like some of your parameters are not adjusted right. My faves are shiva, usa clean, custom audio, jazz120, dr z, and tons of fender amps.

I do all the above and use my ears as the ultimate guide. For me it starts by doing some research with amps, cabs, and effects so I can get in the ballpark. Sometimes the real amps used in the studio aren't the ones that sound the best, but often they are so I use my ears and make adjustments...

V18.01 possibe bug - modifiers very slooooowww at only 89% CPU?

I can attest to similar CPU "issues" or changes with new firmware. Everything comes with a cost. I have a few presets that I had to tweak things. I don't see it as a bug....more of reality when working with computers. Hardware is developed - it is static. Firmware is fluid.....improvements are...

FW18.01 won't work on my 2

I had something similar today. I think a preset got corrupted during either the fractal bot or firmware update. It really f'd-up my axe fx. It wouldn't even backup bank c. So I restored the factory bank C presets. Then I downloaded and reinstalled the firmware again. Presto - it seemed to clear...

18.01 sounds different than 18.00 b7

I've noticed a big difference between 18beta and 18.01. 18.01 is Cliff's masterpiece - it sounds incredible (more clarity, presence, punch, etc).

A "wow" factory preset?

For me it would be I'm not a fan of most presets:( I do enjoy: CA+Clean EJ Clean Blues Aroncino Ballet Slippers I'd recommend downloading some presets from axe-exchange:)

There are dozens of solutions - the axe fx is tremendously versatile and revolutionary. If you want to keep your tubes amps (you have great ones), go for it. IMHO, get rid of all your equipment....then get an axe fx, a power amp (like a matrix gt), then some speakers (matrix, atomic, friedmans...

Thanks. Yes, I have presets backed up on various firmwares, including 17.04. The problem is I get no sound and can't load any presets, even restoring factory presets. The presents remain empty and I have no sound.

So I upgraded to firmware beta18...played around a few weeks. Then decided to roll back to 17.04. When I go back to 17.04 I have empty presets and no sound at all. I tried loading the firmware a few times - same results every time. So, I went back to 18 - my presets are back and I have sound...

Some chorus, compression, enhancer, and eq. Try usa clean 2. Check out a preset I did on fractal preset site called just take my heart - tweak that and you'll get close. That preset is optimized for split coils on an ibanez - humbuckers may sound "boomy" without adjustments.

Holy S%@%! I tried both methods. Amazing- they both sound great and exactly the same. I've had this gear for a year and I can't believe how stupid I am! It's like a fog or cloud has been lifted. It sounds totally amazing. My mine is blown!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you all so much:)

It would make the most sense I guess. The issue is that both stereo inputs are currently occupied by synths, lol. However I use my axe fx alot more than the synths, so I guess a could set one of the synths on the mono channels.

If I take axe fx Output 1 (using L and R unbalanced cables), where do i connect them on my mixer? My mixer (yamaha n8) has 8 "channels" (1-4 are mono, while 5/6 and 7/8 are stereo). Should I connect L to channel 1 and R to channel 2.........or connect L and R to the 5/6 shared stereo input...

I mainly use my axe fx w/mixer and powered frfr monitors. I was wondering is there any way to use it with a small combo practice amp w/o fx loop? Can I connect my guitar to axe fx and send output 1 into the front input jack of an amp? Thanks.

Andy Summers' Custom Audio OD-100 overdrive sound

The basics of Andy's tone (beside the humbucker in the next tele) include Marshall Plexi and JMP heads, analog effects (flanger, echoplex, slight compression, infrequent phaser, tubescreamer). I'll work on a few patches this weekend and post.
