Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta #2 (Cygnus X-3 Release Candidate)

Oh that explains it. Perhaps a Turbo is in my future. I don't recall it doing that in in previous firmwares but I could be misremembering that.

Axe-Fx III Firmware 25.00 Public Beta #2 (Cygnus X-3 Release Candidate)

Found a pretty nasty bug with this preset. There is currently a single cab slot solo'd in Cab 1 but unsoloing it causes the Axe-FX to lock up completely, requiring a power cycle.

Aspiring Finger Drummers: New Yamaha FGDP-50!

IRs York Audio Master Thread - Newest Cab Pack: KW 412 M25-SH

I keep coming back to the Mesa 2x12 pack for FRFR use. It's so smooth and yet will hit you in the face like a boulder.
  14. deathbyguitar

Noticeable benefits of going FRFR cab over guitar cab/power amp.

Funny, I've been doing FRFR for years and decided to get a real deal Dual Rectifier and 2x12 Recto cab. However after selecting the right IRs for my FRFR speakers, (Yamaha DHR12m's) the sound and the feel are about as good, with the added bonus that I can dial out harsh/useless frequencies on...

    Dynacab 4x12 Recto Slant

The naming scheme of the Recto cabs has been one of my biggest gripes about the III for a while. They just need new, more specific names. Of course these are pretty tiny gripes in the grand scheme of things which tells you how happy I am. But Recto amps and cabs are all I use so...

    Ultra in 2024?

If core tones are all you care about, you'd probably be better served with a TC Ampworx pedal or maybe a ToneX since they go for 300 used. I had an ultra way back when.. Amp modeling has gotten dramatically better in a very short amount of time. The Ultra has some cool synth presets but that's...

    NAMM 2024

I wish I were at NAMM for the sole purpose of asking Yamaha if/when they're gonna release a new sample pad. FRFR speaker recommendation?

I tried the Yamaha and EV side by side and preferred the Yamaha just a little bit. So much that I bought four of them. They make for a great backline when you stack two of them on top of each other on their sides.

Wish Revised Recto 4x12 speaker impedance curve names

I think it's actually been reworked for a while and I forgot to come back and mention this. I think it might have been reworked when they introduced Dynacabs. The old SIC had a comically large base hump that went off the chart. The newer one is much more restrained. I thought the OwnHammer...

Let's show some love! What is the thing about the Axe3 that made you grin recently?

The other day I finally purchased my dream analog rig. Dual Rectifier Multi-Watt with a Recto 2x12 cab and a Maxon OD-808. So far, the Axe-FX through FRFR speakers (Yamaha DHR12M) sounds better in every way.

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 24.03 Release

Any non-beta version is assumed to be reasonably stable. If any severe or obvious bugs are found, they are usually corrected within a day or two of initial release. When it doubt, just wait a week after any firmware release, then install. Also, NEVER install right before a gig, of course.

Axe-Fx3 resale value in 10 years

Digital modeling units are tools, not investments. There's no telling what kind of stuff will be here 10 years from now so it's kinda riduclous to even think that way. But if you must, just assume resale value 10 years from now will be half as much, if not less. Also, buy a used unit if this...

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 23.02 Release

Was something changed with regards to Input 1 A/D sensitivity compared to FW 22? I've noticed that with this firmware, going below 5% sounds and feels identical to 5% and above which didn't use to be the case. There's a chance that I'm imagining this.

Wait for AXE FX IV or just get the AXE FX III ?

Zero chance of there being a IV coming out anytime soon considering the craziness that's in the latest beta is the kind of stuff you would expect from a next generation unit. I just purchased two Yamaha DHR12M speakers this afternoon after testing them back to back with the EV PXM-12MP. The Yamaha's are on sale right now for $680 whereas the EVs are still like $950. The EV was slightly smaller and sounded about the same, maybe a tad more low mids (which I didn't...

    Axe-Fx III Firmware 22.00 Release

That does seem unusual. If I recall correctly, those pickup should be medium output, right? How high are the pickups raised? If I were you, I'd leave it at 5% and try lowering the pickups a bit and see what that does.

I don't think losing legacy cabs to make room for extra Dyna-cabs is on the table. I can't remember a time where Fractal has removed a major component just to make room for something else. Where are you setting your input level?

Oh good, a thread that validates my neuroticism about this! Seems like most people with really high output pickups are setting it at 5% to avoid clipping the waveform and/or overloading the converters. I've been using a combination of low input sensitivity with my bridge pickup (PRS HFS) so low...
  92. deathbyguitar

    Before I pull the trigger...

If you don't need crazy elaborate presets, you're not going to need a Turbo. Of course there's nothing wrong with getting the extra horsepower just because. Wireless headphones are a bad idea unless they're low latency. Do you have any studio monitors?
