Got My Xitone Today

It’s in the studio, away from me at the moment. It’s oretty much the exact same size as a Mesa 2x12. It weighs a lot. Micks cabs are no joke, they are as heavy duty as it gets. Never been able to weigh it.

What cables do you use for your expression pedals?

The cheap Hosa cables are just fine. If your pedals are mounted on a board and stable you can use any cheap Ts/trs cables you can find. I would personally use higher end cables purely based on how much movement I put them through.

So your church will insist that you use a certain amp? I have had gigs with seemingly strict sound parameters but never an insistence that I use a particular amplifier. Unless someone pays me really well I'm going to use what I want, as long as it's appropriate for the gig.

FRFR as a backline, does stereo setup make sense

Stereo setups are great and always improve my personal happiness by 100%. Yes, it's true that obtaining a perfect stereo effect in a club is nearly impossible but so what. There are quite literally hundreds of factors like refraction, crowd size, temperature, Windows/mirrors, time of year, etc...

CLR, XiTone et al., any quieter than the ASM-12 i.e; less "hiss"

For me it's a non factor. What my rig sounds like while I'm not playing has never been an issue, even when it was a reeeeeally big hiss... However I put a noise gate befor the amp at like 10% and it seems to kill any unwanted hiss while I drink beer on stage.

Question for the Strymon Guys

The Strymon pedals are 100% worth the hype. They're very well designed and crystal clear. As a self-professed gear head and an AxefxII owner the major problem I keep running into is NOT needing to buy excellent pedals and new gear. My little black box does everything already!

Any 200-350$ EV powered speaker is just fine. I had a pair of Mackies that ruled too, then I spent the money on the good shit. But I will wholeheartedly join the Alto bandwagon. Killer bang for the buck ratio, super cheap, pretty light and a solid frfr option for tyat price point. Good Luck!

New XiTone cab

Back photo? I have a 212 passive cab from XiTone and I couldn't be more thrilled. After a solid year of gigging, rehearsing, and recording my Xitone cab is still pushing as though it were brand new. I couldn't be happier..

does anyone use their rack lids?

the mfc seems to fit right into a 6u track lid, the majority of expression pedals fit within the same space as well... Has anyone mounted the Mfc-101 or expression pedals in a rack lid? Any use for that lid space at all? Thanks

How do you save scenes?

Hey Chris. Thanks for chiming in... Again! . . So I tried that setting both ways. Wasn't my particular issue but good to know! I set my MFC preset to 5 instead of 1. Problem solved. However I did both at the same time so maybe it was the two settings that soled it. Thanks again!!

How do you save scenes?

ugh... Im having issues here. when i change a block state (on/off), then change to a different scene, when i change BACK TO THE original scene my changes aren't saved. they ARE saved when i change scenes on the front of the axefx.... Help?

Fractal Audio AMP models: AC-20 (Morgan AC20 Deluxe)

What the AC30 always brought me was PUNCH. I've never had my chest slapped like a Vox can.. Pristine cleans at a jam-room volume is 100% necessary in my book. The Morgan AC20 patch allows for this same feel for me.. I've tried a real Morgan and couldn't get that tone/volume aspect I wanted...

Keep a guitar around with old shitty strings on it. Play it for 2 minutes, then grab your main axe. It will sound like gold.

No amp block! Just use a cab block and acquire the Fishman Aura IR. After you have this beautiful sound insert a couple of EQs and whatever effects you'd like and POOF!

Anyone try using the Axe with EV/Electro Voice ZLX-12P's?

I think they're stellar. So far the best bang for the buck, powered PA-wise. Side note: I hear people all the time saying that a cab is too boomy, too bright, not mid-friendly, etc... One of the reasons I adore the axefx so much is that there are literally dozens of ways to dial in/out these...

Underrated Amp Models

Bludojai!!! I've been able to find stellar strat tones and LP tones with this amp. Never used a real one and they have been off of my radar. But as I was constructing strat tones I found it. I can get that amazing Tubey sound that I craved and it blends really well with other amps...

How many expression pedals are you using?

I use four pedals. The first one is a volume purely. It goes between my guitar and my axefx. I found that having an expression pedal control a volume block or a volume parameter is just too laggy for me, so I just keep that one simple. The other 3 pedals are used as expressions! Wah...

Helix and the Law of unintended consequences!

I agree with this. Other than the 'impenetrable' part. A Learning curve for sure if your not a midi guy or a previous modeler junkie. I definitely hated every modeler crapola I've ever played. They seemed fake and shrill to me... Line6 baloney. Use real amps whyDoncha! Then my super nerd...
