Less gain in fw15 compared to fw14???

Fw15.2 keeps these amps nice n tight in the bottom end while still getting into chaos territory with gain (IF that's where you want to be). If you're needing more gain adjust the input trim and then "gain" it up to taste. I think this Firmware has been the most impressive change since owning the...

What changed in the EvH 5153 in FW14

Anybody running Matrix -> Mesa 4x12?

A tube power amp will solve your issues. It has more of the classic "amp in room/tube punch and cut" that you're looking for. Although with fw14, the 5153 Red channel tweaked out cuts through big time. Try using some amps that you normally don't and see what you can dial in.

I'm not using the 4 cable method. I just plugged it into the FX return of my 5150 II as per the manual. Basically the Axe now works as the 5150 II's pre-amp section. All of my patches work just as they did with the Matrix gt800fx. Basically no changes had to be done other than turning off Power...

If you guys are so worried about that minor tonal difference then you should just use a tube power amp. Turn off the power amp sim, speaker sim, and bam! sounds like a tube amp when you crank it up! I've dumped my Matrix gt800fx for live/rehearsals (it's a wonderful neutral sounding quality...

Is there any point in buying a traditional amp after owning a II.

Nothing wrong with having the Tubes and an Axe. My main gigging tone is based off of my 5150ii. I keep the 5150ii as a back up - just in case type of thing. I also have a 1983 vertical input Marshall JCM800 2204. Thing is an absolute beast and will never be sold. Same with my 1967 Traynor YVM-1...

FW11 IIC+ vs Mark V-IIC+ - Not getting good results (Solved)

I think the main difference when doing these comparisons is the eq/settings. I dialled my Axe Fx II in with my ears, not my eyes. I got the sounds almost exactly the same as my live rig (5150ii through a mesa recto 4x12) - then with the added eq/dynamic controls I was able to dial in an amazing...

After going from 11b to 11 some presets sound loud and have clipping: normal?

I actually found the opposite.. The levels with 11b were all over the map, whereas with Firmware 11.0 all the levels are pretty much bang on consistent! I have cab modelling off though as I use a mesa recto 4x12. Maybe that's where you're experiencing your issues?
