Renamed: Guitar itself is picking up buzz/interference

A quick check to determine if it's environmental EMI is to just spin around. If the amount of buzz changes when you're facing a different direction, then it's environmental. If the buzz is constant, then you've got a grounding issue somewhere. Either inside the unit or with the power connection.

    FM9 Firmware Version 6.00

This hit me too. I wasn't expecting gapless to have such an effect on CPU. I've got a few patches that are on the edge, so as much as I'd like to use it, I'll be disabling it globally.

    FM9 Firmware Version 6.00

Is it just me, or is the version booting waaaay faster than the previous?

Paramore - Last Hope (live) tone

The chord voicing also can't be overlooked for this song. He's using a funky tuning that allows him to drone on the high strings. That's what helps keep the sound constantly ringing as he moves through the chords.

FM9 Sometimes doesn't boot. (White screen)

I have the same problem, but it seems to only happen if I'm sending a signal (i.e. noodling on the guitar) while it boots. I've trained myself to not touch anything else until it's done starting.

    FM9-Edit 1.02.04

Confirmed this fixed my crash on disconnect issue. Thanks!

    FM9-Edit 1.02.03

Which firmware are you referring to? I'm on FM9-Edit 1.02.03, if that's what you mean, though I had the same issue on the previous .02 as well. I didn't have it before then.

    FM9-Edit 1.02.03

I'm also having the crash on disconnect issue. Windows 10. USB driver is 5.50.0. It happens every time. Both 32 and 64-bit versions are crashing for me.

    FM9-Edit 1.02.02

I seem to have a issue with the latest version. Since updating to the 5.0 firmware, if I turn off the FM9, FM9-Edit will crash immediately. I haven't had this issue with any previous versions. This is on Windows 10.

One DynaCab is worth 9,613,604 IRs

This 1000%. I loaded up the new firmware and Dyna-Cabs tonight, picked the 4x12 Friedman GB, and found the tone I've been hunting for for years of going through literally thousands of IRs in just a few minutes.

My Favorite Marshall (as of FW 4) What's yours?

Something to consider with the actual head is that, unlike the AxeFx, there's no master volume. It will need to get quite loud for higher gain sounds, so you might want to also purchase an attenuater.

    Wish FM9 Wishlist

You can do this using per-preset switches. You can set a custom name for your per-preset switch, then have that override the default effect. It's not automatic, but it's not much work.

My Favorite Marshall (as of FW 4) What's yours?

The 1987X Jumped. It's like an 800, but with more control over the high end with the treble volume. Turn down the input trim to about half and you get those sweet 2204 low input clean tones, too.

    Greetings from a New Member

Hi Everyone, As a "New Member", just thought I would introduce myself, and say I've gotten a lot of great info as member of this community for the past 9 years. Just one question - does anyone know how many more years until I'm not considered a "New Member" anymore? ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

How to connect a real guitar amp to FM9 as a stomp box - NOT 4CM

I do the exact same setup with my JMP, since it doesn't have an FX loop. We're in good company, too. EVH also used the same setup (except he sent the line out straight to a power amp.)

Fractal Audio AMP models: Cali Leggy and Legato 100 (Carvin Legacy VL100)

I've been running through all the new amps since upgrading from the II to FM9, and I recently discovered this gem. Specifically the "Legend 100 II." Since it's a fairly dark amp, it pairs extremely well with the bright strat pickups. Anyone that likes high-gain + strat (paging @2112 ) really...

    Marshall 2104

I believe the cascaded model of a JMP 2204 would be the same circuit as the JCM800, e.g. BRIT800.

    WISH: Alternative to global blocks

These aren't exactly new issues. Programmers figured this stuff out decades ago. Broken link? Check if it's there first, and if not, skip it or error out. There are algorithms for checking for circular links in data structures, too. I'd be fine if this was implemented in FM9-Edit only. That's...

    Amp In the Room

I decided to try the advice in the G66 video about getting a better "amp in the room" sound. I found the frequency response curve for the EVM-15L, which is similar to the speaker SRV ended up using in his VibroVerbs. I got a pretty good match using the PEQ block. The patch is attached below so...

Wish Turn off/on Main LCD screen or mini LCD's. Turn off flashing Tempo switch colour(but keep colour)

Agreed that I'd like the ability to turn off the Main LCD screen, or implement some kind of screen saver. Having the display always on is guaranteed to create burn-in after some time. It would be nice to be able to leave the FM9 on when not actively using it, and not worry about burn-in. Also...

    Waitlist Email

Waitlist 9/20/21. Arrived yesterday. First preset uploaded to Axe-Change today. :) I was expecting it to sound pretty similar to my AxeFx II, but it's a noticable improvement. The II was 97% of the way there, and this is 100%.

    Real fuzz pedal in front?

Yep, as everyone says, fuzz is one thing that no modeler has fully nailed yet. It's the only "real" pedal I still use.

    Any Foo Fans?

Dave is known for using Vox amps, but if you've ever seen photos of the Foo's rehearsal space, they have every amp under the sun, and different band members tend to play different amps and guitars. Not sure what the opening amp is, but the rhythm guitars in the verse sure sound like a driven Vox...

    Recording with FL Studio

I've recorded the AxeFx many times with FL Studio. It works fine, but it takes some setup. The first thing is not to use the FAS ASIO driver. Use ASIO4ALL. The FAS driver doesn't let you use a different device for output, so it's always going to output back to the AxeFx, which might be causing...

Fractal Audio AMP models: PVH 6160 Block (“block letter” EVH 5150 / Peavey 6505)

I love the 6160 Block. It's so powerful and bombastic, yet defined and controllable. Only downside is the tendency to drown out every other instrument in the room.

    Coming Soon

That's really too bad. I was hoping it would at least send CC, PC, and the expression pedals. I'd love to have something I can use as a basic controller for the Axe-Fx that would at least switch patches and scenes, and that I could then just unplug and take with me for practice/gigs where there...

    TouchOSC Android Controller

Yes, it works. I'm using TouchOSC on a Nexus 7 Tablet (the older version). Here's what I did to get it working: 1. Axe-FX plugged in to PC via USB 2. TouchOSC installed on tablet 3. Tablet connected to same network as PC over Wifi 4. TouchOSC bridge, TouchOSC editor, and Bome's Midi...
