    Bug? MFC-101 (Occasionally) Loses Connection

I'll try another cable and see. I was wondering if it's possible to get interference along an Ethernet cable from other electrical stuff. I've got quite a few other devices nearby with power cords, etc. Thanks for the idea.

    Bug? MFC-101 (Occasionally) Loses Connection

About once a week, my MFC-101 Mark III stops communicating with my FX-II (no footswitches work). If I just reboot the FX, all's fine. I'm using an EtherCon cable for connection/power. Any thoughts?

I was just looking at the Roland-I think that's a good bet. Thanks for the input.

    Good 3rd Party Interface

I've read that it's best to use a 3rd party midi interface to update the MFC's firmware via Fractal-Bot. Any suggestions for a good unit?

Using Presonus AudioBox USB with FXII

I just got a PreSonus AudioBox USB DAW setup and was wondering how I might route my FXII signal to it. It has guitar/mic inputs and a USB in/out. I'm pretty new to this stuff, but I want to keep things simple and was hoping to get an output signal from my FXII to match the required...

    Traffic Jam Preset?

Does anyone know if the preset called "Traffic Jam" (not "Freeway Jam") has been removed with recent updates? It was really cool with a descending pitch panning echo thing. I may have backed it up, but I'm not sure how to find it or retrieve it.

    Dedicated Laptop for Axe-Edit

I have a FCB1010 foot controller hooked up via MIDI, and I've notice that sometimes it's "at odds" with the switching sent through AE. I get delayed switching, and sometimes pops through my speakers.

    Dedicated Laptop for Axe-Edit

Sounds like there are lots of choices, but it's nice to hear lots of people are doing it. I don't know Santa is a Fractal enthusiast or on this forum, but here's an official request: Laptop Please!

    Dedicated Laptop for Axe-Edit

Sounds like a great setup. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a budget laptop like that. Axe-Edit is such a useful interface, I want it up all the time.

    Dedicated Laptop for Axe-Edit

Does anyone have a suggestion for a good budget laptop to use solely as an Axe-Edit to FX-II interface? Any advantages to type/brand? I've got mine hooked up to my desktop computer right now, but I'd like a dedicated computer for programming/adjusting my FX-II.

Can't Get Tuner to Work on Axe-Edit (solved)

Regarding the TUNER page, it is on the first one. So, does anyone know what the default MIDI CC setting is on the I/O menu for the tuner? I may have changed it at some point and am not sure what it should be.

Can't Get Tuner to Work on Axe-Edit (solved)

I'm probably missing something, but when I click on the tuner on Axe-Edit I get the display but no movement of the meter (as if there's no signal being input). The tuner display on the FX-II works just fine. Any ideas?

    Best Mid-Priced Active Monitors

I noticed the M-Audio BXs don't have any EQ controls on the back while most others do. Should I care about these adjustments?
  15. P

    Best Mid-Priced Active Monitors

Yeah, I talked about the "mid-priced" thing earlier. I'm amazed at how expensive small monitors can be (looking at the Sweetwater catalog-Genelec, ATC, etc.) How about the Equator D5s vs the D8s? I don't need anything huge.
  16. P

    Best Mid-Priced Active Monitors

I see that KRK has come out with a gen 3 version of the Rokit series. Has anybody tried these? Are they much different than the gen 2s (which you can get pretty cheap now...)?

    Best Mid-Priced Active Monitors

Anybody else have issues with Equator D5s? And, if I do go with them, should I buy direct? It seems local retailing is limited.

    Best Mid-Priced Active Monitors

Wow. Option anxiety-thanks for all the suggestions. What about size? I can deal with something a little bigger than desktop size but don't need huge volume.
  19. P

    Best Mid-Priced Active Monitors

Yeah, you're right about pricing. I'm a home player not an engineer, so my needs are different. I guess that begs the question: Can a good engineer really hear the difference with a high-end monitor? Just curious what the criteria are. Thanks for the input.

    Best Mid-Priced Active Monitors

Mid-priced to me would be $150 to $350 each. I should have clarified that. If you look at a pro-audio catalog, some 6-inch monitors cost over $2,000.
  21. P

    Best Mid-Priced Active Monitors

I'll take a look at those. There are so many options out there, it's tough to choose. Thanks.

    Best Mid-Priced Active Monitors

I use my QSC K10s when I play out, but I'm looking for a good pair of active monitors for home use. I do some recording, but mostly practicing. Any brand/model people really like?

Anyway to activate a metronome with the Axe FX?

I'm trying to control the FX-II's metronome with an FCB1010. Does anybody if it's possible to set it up with an on/off function (switch) and use one of the expression pedals to control tempo?

    Unsupported Audio Format

I'll give that a try tomorrow. Thanks a lot for the heads up-I had trouble finding what I needed using Cakewalk's help menus.

    Unsupported Audio Format

I have a trial version of Sonar X2 and I'm getting an error message saying my FXII drivers don't support the current audio format. I've tried some things, but I am stuck. I'm a rookie at DAWs, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    FCB 1010 Switching Effects On/Off

After some (OK, a lot) of experimenting and reading, your first example worked perfectly. I can tell there's a lot to be had if you take the time to learn. Thanks so much for getting me up and running!

    FCB 1010 Switching Effects On/Off

That's great help- I'm realizing there's a learning curve here. The UnO chip (from what I can tell) is 16 Euros (around $21), so I'll give your method a try. Thanks for all the input.

    FCB 1010 Switching Effects On/Off

Thanks for the replies. So the UNO chip is the way to go, I gather. I don't have a midi-computer interface yet. I'm looking at the M-Audio UNO. Any thoughts?

    Factory Preset Volume Levels

I like to jump around to different factory presets on the FX, but I find the volume levels vary a lot. I've modified one of the presets for my main tone and reduced the output so it will work in a quiet environment. But when I go to other presets I get big volume jumps. I know there are...

Wow. Is there anything FX can't do?
  35. P

    iPad and Garageband

I'm a little confused about the input source. The iTrack solo has only mic (left), and a guitar (right) inputs. The USB port on the back is for power only, I believe. Then the output goes to the iPad via a special adapter cable. Am I missing something, or are you using a different interface (one...

    iPad and Garageband

I'd like to use my Focusrite iTrack Solo, iPad and Garageband to record. Does anybody have any tips on interfacing the FX-II with this setup? I used to mic my guitar cab, but haven't tried anything direct.

    Inexpensive/Simple Midi Foot Controller

I was just looking at that item for the same reason. It would be bad to nuke my new FX just to run this controller. Thanks again.

    Inexpensive/Simple Midi Foot Controller

The power supply I received with the MM is rated at 1800 milliamps and the FX manual warns against plugging any adapter over 1 amp in its Phantom Power jack. Think I should try a different power supply?

    Inexpensive/Simple Midi Foot Controller

Well, I'm a bit torn. I like the FCB1010, but it may be too large for my purposes. I'm definitely ready to ramp up my knowledge and get what I can out the FX-II. Thanks for all the help.

    Inexpensive/Simple Midi Foot Controller

How's the build quality on the Behringer FCB1010? I'm surprised it's so inexpensive.

    Inexpensive/Simple Midi Foot Controller

After more internet research and the above suggestions, I understand midi controlling better. It seems like it might be better to go with a unit with a few more options so I can further confuse myself in the future. I'm just beginning to digest the Fractal manual, so I've got a long way to go...

    Inexpensive/Simple Midi Foot Controller

I just got my FX II and am looking for a simple way to switch between presets using a midi foot controller. It sounds like the Midi-Mate is a decent choice, but I'd like something smaller and don't need a whole lot of complexity. I'm new to the midi-switching concept. Any suggestions?

Best FRFRs For Low Volume Practice

I'm new to the Fractal society and am using my FX-II mostly for practicing at low volumes with occasional (reasonable) outbursts. Any suggestions for powered frfrs at a reasonble price?
