    Anyone using Solodallas IRs?

I have the G12-65 IRs from Solodallas. They didn't do much for me even though I love the speaker in real life. They're a lot of dough for only a few IRs. York or Ownhammer is a better way to spend your money IMO.

My First Axe-Fx Weekend! Can't believe it's finally happening! (formerly 'Ordered today...')

    Judas Priest 80's era.

I never said that master volume Marshalls weren't around. Watch the live videos of Judas Priest on the Screaming For Vengeance tour. They were four holers. Judas Priest 80's era.

I don't think Priest was using master volume Marshalls for British Steel. It was 1959s with a treble.boost. The 2203s came later around Defenders.

/ Once you try this method and then A/B it with the Marshall selections available in the AxeIII, I predict that you will park the tube amp and it will collect dust. It's unnecessary at this point for this type of usage. Save it for the live 4x12 experience.

Apparently they fixed the hiss that people complained about in the V1. Don't know what the V1s sounded like but the V2s are great to my ears. I kicked my JBLs to the curb after A-B'ng them. They have a lot of low end too. No need for a subwoofer in my opinion.

Question About Speaker Load in 4CM

As long as the amp is plugged into a speaker cab (or load box) , you're fine. If the amp has signal on the input and it's not plugged into a cab, then you run the risk of blowing the OPT.

JCM800 2203x halfstack vs AXE FIII w/poweramp and cab

True. There were long periods of times where I never changed presets. But sometimes I can't resist the urge to fiddle f*ck with settings. I also usually use Axe Edit to tweak settings so the computer is another distraction too.
  70. C

JCM800 2203x halfstack vs AXE FIII w/poweramp and cab

Yeah, the other aspect is that the real amp can get you playing and practicing more when you only have 5 knobs to fiddle with. No firmware updates or making patches and scrolling through all of the infinite possibilities. You just plug into an amp, tweak for a few seconds, and Bob's your uncle...

JCM800 2203x halfstack vs AXE FIII w/poweramp and cab

I've run the Axe III into solid state power amps, tube power amps, effects loop returns of tube amps, and in my opinion it falls short of the real thing. Im talking about just amp block into output block into power amp. I'm not talking about the fact that it has 290 amps and tons of effects...

JCM800 2203x halfstack vs AXE FIII w/poweramp and cab

  73. C

JCM800 2203x halfstack vs AXE FIII w/poweramp and cab

The Axe III fed into a power amp and cabinet will not compare to the real JCM800 and 4x12. Apples and oranges. If you're talking about mic'ing up a cab and recording the half stack, then the Axe can compete. Otherwise, you won't be able to scratch that itch of the visceral punch of the amp in...

  85. C

    W D W question. Can't figure out something.

Ok, so first make sure that your line levels are good going to the input on the AxeFX. It really doesn't matter which input/output you use. I would use one of the 2-4 I/Os though and leave the first input for guitar straight in for future use. Make a straight line patch with no effects, just I/O...
