Tell me what amps you DON'T prefer!

One man's harsh amp is another man's holy grail of tone. The presets are just one setting, many people create their own or at least modify the settings to get closer to their tonal objectives. Steve Morse uses an Engl, and that's enough of an endorsement to me not to dismiss the Powerball. The...

    Axe-Fx II weird flanger/ducking issue?

I can recall one day when my Axe Fx once sounded terrible, and I called in for tech support. It finally dawned on me that on the IO menu, I had the input set to USB for a reamping project and forgot to change the input back to ANALOG IN 1. Correcting the input on the IO menu immediately solved...

Can AxeFx 2XL patches be shared with AxeFX 2 users (non-XL)?

The FracTool will share patches between the II XL and the Mark I and Mark II, as long as the patch does not require more resources than available on the Mark I or Mark II. Otherwise, you may have to simplify the signal path before loading it in your Mark I/II.

    Axe-Fx II weird flanger/ducking issue?

Look for the simple things first. Rule out any corrupted firmware or preset problems. Perhaps there was a global parameter that you might have inadvertently set by accident. This process might take a little time, but my best suggestion would be to do a complete reset and reinstall of your...

Convert Tone Match Block to Wav IR

I found a preset file that dated back to early 2014, my first Axe Fx was the Mark II, this had to be a Mark II preset and I got the very same error on Axe-O-Matic telling me that it was not a valid Axe Fx II file...bummed here.
  8. EricP1954

Convert Tone Match Block to Wav IR

I was able to use FracTool to save a II XL preset to Axe Fx II format, and this would have been perfect but Axe-O-Matic gave an error of "Invalid Axe II file" when I attempted to import the converted file.

Convert Tone Match Block to Wav IR

Thank you for posting, AlGrenadine! FracTool allows export of a II XL to Mark II, is that right? One that works, then hoping Axe-o-matic can convert the TMB to an IR in wav format. I think Axe-o-matic can read Mark II files.

Convert Tone Match Block to Wav IR

Can Someone Pls Help Me Emulate An LR Baggs Session Align Acoustic Pedal?

There are some good comments here about compression, and yes, start with the studio comp, but play around with the different types, the Dyna comp is something Eric Johnson uses on his clean electric sound, it might translate to a good character on acoustic. As far as rack mounted amp gear is concerned, a lot of people even add rack cooling fans, and with rack mounted amps, you are dealing with more confined spaces where heat can be trapped. I get your point about amp heads, but amp heads generally are surrounded by more ventilation area.
  16. EricP1954

    Fryette LXII

I recall hearing that the video showcased the two units after being run for a while, so they were both hot, and not cold. That might account for the difference in fan volume. The fan volumes on both units get louder when the units are pushed.
  17. EricP1954

    Fryette LXII

I still do not understand because you didn't point out specifically what makes the video "deceptive marketing" and "unethical." Perhaps you could post a video of your own Matrix fan and the LX-II so that we could compare. Both units have variable fan speeds depending on the load. At bedroom...

    Input 2 Question

Hmm, I definitely can change the input from front to rear on the I/O menu (there is an option for stereo there), but I don't see the option in the input block, unless I'm blindly missing it. I looked both on the front panel of the unit itself and in the Axe Edit menu.

    Input 2 Question

I go to the IO menu, page over to Audio and the fourth item down is Input 1 Left Select-Currently it is on FRONT I changed that to REAR I am getting sound from the guitar. Just set the remainder of the preset up as usual then with the input selection set to rear? I think you did the trick...

    Fryette LXII

The LXII has a linear mode that makes it more suitable than the 2/50/2 for modeling preamps like the Axe Fx, Kemper Profiler, and Helix. There are 6L6 tubes in the LXII vs EL34 tubes in the 2/50/2. They're both good, just different. Technically, the 2/50/2 would work, but you'd probably end up...

You were right, this second video with the 5150 and Peavey were much more closely matched to the Kraken. To be rigorously honest, the Kraken Gain I (real tube head) sounded better to me, as played through the Torpedo. Well, the guy in the video is actually pretty funny, although he sounds like he might be shilling for UAD. But you have dog ears, Mark, and you get so close to these guys' tones, I don't even know how you do it, and I guess THAT is going to remain a trade secret for a while :D

Anyone know where to get a good Jimmy Page Les Paul tone?

It's strictly the studio tone I'm going for, just hammering out some finishing touches on The Rain Song. Wow, Granding, thank you!! These presets should work out great with my Tele, and I'll keep what you said in mind about rolling off some of the gain. It's my understanding that on Dancing Days, Page was using a Danelectro DC-59 for the slide parts, but that tone was red hot!!
  63. EricP1954

Anyone know where to get a good Jimmy Page Les Paul tone?

Yes, and perhaps some studio EQ adjustments on Physical Graffiti and Presence, also. I just dialed The Ocean tone up on a real Fryette SigiX amp. I'm pretty sure he is in the bridge position on that tone, let me know if you disagree.
  64. EricP1954

Anyone know where to get a good Jimmy Page Les Paul tone?

Thanks, I'll try that, but the guy in this video nails the tone on a Marshall Plexi with an Apollo Twin interface and a dial-up Plexi, I was surprised at how close he got.
  65. EricP1954

Anyone know where to get a good Jimmy Page Les Paul tone?

Paid or free, I need a good Jimmy Page Les Paul preset (i.e. The Ocean or Immigrant Song) for a recording project. If you have one or know of one, I'd appreciate it, or a source for Led Zeppelin multitracks. Thanks.

Wow Moosy, it likes that T-style guitar has the one front pickup! You are dangerously close to Jimi's basic tone. To get any closer, you may have to hire Eddie Kramer to mix your tone! You can pull a lot of fat notes with your finger style picking. Kudos and thanks for sharing!

Trying to find out how The Contortionist gets their shimmery cleans.

Although humbuckings can get a clear, ringing sound, the guitar player probably used single coils.
