    Preset Building: Tone Crafting

Love both these tones, the Triptik and the JCM800. My Tele sounds fantastic with JCM800 in particular... Also I've jumping ahead on the crunch/solo side of things a bit... The Plexi 50 High is so effing bad ass, my bass player, my tech and myself all stared at each other in utter dis-belief...

    Why all the Metal??????

As far as tonality, I love the rich deep tones that some the Metal presets put out, but honestly.... wouldn't you rather hear 7 meaningful notes from those tones that tell a story, than 10,000 perfectly played notes that never take a breath? LOL, I'm starting to sound like my dad!
  6. MarkShrader

    Why all the Metal??????

I have often wondered this as well... Fractal (Cliff) has designed in every amp imaginable into the AF2, so why all the metal? Of all the players I know, not one is a metal player, or even in to metal at all. Metal rules? What are we in Jr. High? lol

Dialing in sound with band and EQ

Wow, I wished I lived in the "everybody is mic'd and individually dial-able" world. LOL My band is all cabs, all air, no mics (except lead vocal). Pretty loud, raw & high energy, but very nearly impossible to approach using this technique - but I sure wish we could though!

    Preset Building: Tone Crafting

Enjoying this public workshop Clarky! So you ended up using the JCM800 as your hairy clean... For those of us that are following verbatim, how did you end up setting your Input Drive and MV for the JCM800? We're talking about the cleanest this preset will get right?

Selecting amps in the AMP block - default A, B and C knob expectations

There have been several times in the last week when I've wanted to hear some of the new amp models and have been unsure if the defaults settings were correct. Either the signal is too low, too loud or just otherwise not that great. I know it's not my setup because everything that originally...

So you're only allowed one amp sim!!

It's hard to appreciate the choice when you don't know what the user sounds like. I wish we could add "and WHY?" to the original question of this thread. As a classical rock player, there are times when I need to mellow my tone and smooth up the crunch edge. How many of these amps will...

Marshall power section vs. Matrix GT

Clarky, your attention to detail is remarkable... and very much appreciated! Thanks for taking the time to describe your process. PaulMapp, yes I do have sims on for Matrix and off for JVM. I am finding that the Matrix, while sounding great, makes things a tad more hard in terms of "corners"...

Marshall power section vs. Matrix GT

Severed, I'm not an expert on the older Marshalls so I accept your input at face value. The bottom line is I don't want to haul a big heavy JVM head around if I don't have to. What other Marshall offerings are there? I'm afraid none at this time. Heck even smaller options like the Fryette...

Clarky & paulmapp8306, Really good comments, thanks for your thoughts. kmanick, No I have not. All things considered I am reluctant to buy something that I never seen or heard ($300 is still $300). Besides, the Matrix is pretty damn close, enough so that its size and weight really do come...

Using external pedals with Axe-FX II?

Anyone heard Tom Quayle's new Fusion pedal?

Wondering if anyone has heard, liked, played, or matched his new Wampler Fusion pedal? Recording the Axe Without Effects

I'm sure you realize the advantages of recording at such a high bit rate are completely undone when you transmit analog on anything other than super-pristine cables pre-amps right? A noble thing yes, but be clear you are much better off to stay digital and compromise bitrates a bit. IMO

  69. MarkShrader

    Recording the Axe Without Effects

I will play with this later tonight, but Reaper allows you to re-route the output of your dry tracks to a different channel which can then be isolated and sent to the AF2 for re-amping. Again I will have to confirm this process, but maybe someone else can chime in with their experiences?
  70. MarkShrader

    Recording the Axe Without Effects

The Axe-FX II operates as an audio interface if you install the driver and use the USB port to connect to your computer. Once you've set that up, your multi-track software (Reaper in my case) will let you record 4 incoming signals from the Axe-FX. So... Set the input ports on four of your...

So does this mean you'l be using an expression pedal to go from Clean to Riff, and another switch to jump into Solo? You can't really morph from one Scene to another that I know of? But what a great thought huh? LOL

Clarky: I have broken your block by block description on page 5 to just the triggers and pedals and was hoping you would clarify a few of them.
