Love both these tones, the Triptik and the JCM800. My Tele sounds fantastic with JCM800 in particular... Also I've jumping ahead on the crunch/solo side of things a bit... The Plexi 50 High is so effing bad ass, my bass player, my tech and myself all stared at each other in utter dis-belief...

Why all the Metal??????

As far as tonality, I love the rich deep tones that some the Metal presets put out, but honestly.... wouldn't you rather hear 7 meaningful notes from those tones that tell a story, than 10,000 perfectly played notes that never take a breath? LOL, I'm starting to sound like my dad!

I have often wondered this as well... Fractal (Cliff) has designed in every amp imaginable into the AF2, so why all the metal? Of all the players I know, not one is a metal player, or even in to metal at all. Metal rules? What are we in Jr. High? lol

Dialing in sound with band and EQ

Wow, I wished I lived in the "everybody is mic'd and individually dial-able" world. LOL My band is all cabs, all air, no mics (except lead vocal). Pretty loud, raw & high energy, but very nearly impossible to approach using this technique - but I sure wish we could though!

Yea, knowing how hard Cliff worked on these modelers, seems like it re-opens the door to anything... I.e. some of these great new drive pedals that are very difficult to model, etc (Wampler Fusion, and so on)

I'm sure you realize the advantages of recording at such a high bit rate are completely undone when you transmit analog on anything other than super-pristine cables pre-amps right? A noble thing yes, but be clear you are much better off to stay digital and compromise bitrates a bit. IMO

I will play with this later tonight, but Reaper allows you to re-route the output of your dry tracks to a different channel which can then be isolated and sent to the AF2 for re-amping. Again I will have to confirm this process, but maybe someone else can chime in with their experiences?

FW 10 Release - is there a way to be notified?

Like the Facebook idea too. Pardon the pun! (Hate Facebook, but like the idea...) C'mon, let's go LIKE these guys, if you haven't already. They deserve it.

Not that I don't enjoy spending time on the forum here with you guys, but is there way to be notified when the firmware update drops? At this point I'm not aware of any notifications except those that the forum tells me automatically (ie. Likes, etc)

I think my own search has boiled down to consistency as much or more than tone. My quest as of late is to KNOW what I sound like, and confidently take that sound everywhere I go! Just my 2 cents. =)

Also a great point! To further agree: if one is inspired and plays better with a different monitor mix/sound, THAT is what matters! That is what will come through to themselves, their band mates and their audiences. So tweak on and be happy, my fellow tone-seekers!

Sorry gang, I have to chime in and agree with Robboman. If you're not content with a basic, decent quality (read: good quality) unit, it is very likely you will never be satisfied with a smarter/more expensive box either. There is no magic speaker pill, lol. Just sayin'...
