Used my FM9 live at a sizable gig

I've never flown to a gig. Would it make sense (with enough lead time) to have the gear shipped to the location separately via FedEx or something before hand? Maybe it would be handled with more care? I have no idea, just thinking out loud.

I had this exact issue happen to me over the weekend. In fact, I logged into the forum just now to search for this very issue! I've just placed an order for that chip and will have my tech replace it. Thank you for the information. I too love the Matrix amp. It has worked flawlessly for me...

    Going wireless worth the switch?

Well, count me in also as a wireless user! I always use the wireless irregardless of stage size. In fact, smaller stages are better for wireless because with limited room comes even more chance of tangling with the cable. I still use an older Shure unit (PGX??) but I'd like to upgrade at...

    Changing patches via midi w/ableton

I used to do this same thing when I played in a Rammstein cover band. We used Ableton Live and I sent scene changes to my AxeFX. I also had a button setup on my MFC to start the next songs in the list. But, as you mentioned, I only changed scenes. I'm not 100% sure how to change patches but...

Axe Fx II XL Plus + Matrix + Cab Orange Ppc410

Interesting. I've had nothing but great luck using a Marshall 1960B 4x12. My rig is the AxeFX into a Matrix 1000 then out to the 4x12. I've occasionally used two 4x12 cabs live and it always sounds fantastic. Part of the trick (for me) is to turn off all speaker emulation. Then simply run...

Is the Big Hair amp based on the ADA MP1???

I'll throw my name in the list of former ADA users. I had the MP1 (in fact, two of them, one spare) running with a Roland GP16 processor. It was a killer rig for the day. Somebody else in this thread said they didn't like the chorus in the MP1 but I disagree. To me, it sounded great and was...

    Scene levels

I run into this now and again as well. In my case, it is almost always my delay effects. When they are in-line, their outputs can boost the signal levels quite a bit. I've gotten into the habit of trying to always placing the delay effects in parallel and this has fixed my issues.

    New User - Many questions

Honestly.....you have to start somewhere so just start at Preset 1 and over-write it. Don't look back after that. It's not like your losing out on anything. Start by finding the raw amp tone you like and save it to preset 1. Name it "David Main" or something like that. Now, just work from...

How do you boost signal for solos?

Being the single guitarist in my band, I do not need a great deal of boost. Long before I had an AxeFX, I always used the old standby Boss GE7 eq pedal as my go to solo boost device. Now that I have the AxeFX, I still feel that an eq setup for the boost is still (for me) the best choice. Like...

Changing Scenes via MIDI triggers in a DAW automatically?

Yup! I did this when I was in a Rammstein tribute band. The band used Ableton Live to send a click track to the drummer and all of the keyboard sounds to the house. Along with that, I sent a midi track to my Axe FX and it automatically changed my scenes, etc per song. It's really cool to...

Everything plugs into the Furman for power. I still use that older Shure wireless and that blue cable to go into the Axe. From the Axe I have some (I believe) Monster cables to the Matrix. Then Speakon cables from Matrix to the 4x12. I sometimes run two 4x12 cabs.

has the axe replaced everything or not?

The Axe FX is lacking in keyboard emulated types of sounds via the pitch shifting. I'm referring to the types of sounds that the EHX POG2 (and it's variants) can make. While not a sound I use often, I do regret selling my POG2 just because the Axe has a very hard time achieving those sounds.

What are you using to generate the click? If you are using something like Ableton Live then this is very easy. You simply connect your Axe FX to the Laptop running Ableton via USB and the sync is pretty much automatic. There are some simple steps that need to be enabled inside of Ableton but...

Korn - Freak On A Leash (modulation sound)

Okay, I figured out this tone. All you need to do is place a phaser block before your amp. On the phaser, choose either the script or block 90 (whichever you like best). Then set the rate, and depth to 100%. Set the feedback up a little too. That's pretty much it! Adjust as you see fit...

It sounds like either a rotovibe with some additional modulation, a tremolo with modulation, or a chorus that has some serious depth and rate applied to it. In any event, I would assign the effect to an expression pedal that would allow you to engage the effect at the end of each phrase.
