Should I go mono or stereo to FOH

The way I do it that works great is out 1 xlr to the pa is sum l+r in the global I/O settings and out 2 (fx send) is stereo which goes to my frfr amp. Then use Out 1 volume control knob to pa and the Out 2 volume control for my personal stage amp volume.

Works for me. I also asked Leon Todd who has a killer live tone with his AX8, (check out his you tube channel) and he agreed going mono with one xlr to the board seems to be closer to using an actual amp and cab than running stereo.

So I have a 1/4" running from out 2 of the ax8 into my Matrix amp but no matter what I try I am not getting sound into my frfr cab. The out 2 volume knob is up on the ax8, what am I missing?

Whats the story on this Fractool thing? Is that really necessary to be able to take a .syx file and import it from a computer into into the ax8? It seems that as long as the firmware of the .syx file matches the firmware on the ax8 then ax8 edit should work just fine....I hope anyway.

Very helpful video, thanks I hope you will do more! I just got the AX8 and for some reason I can't seem to get axe edit and cab lab 3 to connect at the same time. There's probably some obvious step I'm forgetting. Any ideas?

Going Direct to FOH

I like "Null" myself on the cab block with a good mixed IR, run direct to the PA, set the axe fx volume as needed for the PA, and then with my Matrix amp I adjust the output volume and use the FRFR cab for my personal stage feel and sound. Then I adjust my stage monitor mix for preferred band...

I play lead and rhythm guitar in a cover band performing 25-30 songs per night. 4 presets using FR212 for stage volume and direct out Axe FX to PA: 1. High gain with up to 5 scenes for changing effects 2. Medium crunch up to 5 scenes..... 3. Lower gain clean/crunch that I blend with the piezo...

No I have not tried to mic the clr cab. So those of you using the Fr212 cab, and connecting the Axe Fx to FOH and/or mixer, I guess you just like the cab for the backline cab effect and stage volume? If you don't mind could you share some more about how you use this cab and run direct out? Thanks!!

Fw 15.06 and axe edit

OK I got it....for now...it seems. I had to click on the settings tab on the axe edit screen and change both ports to "none" then back to "midi inputs" or whatever it was and then it connected right up. FW 15.07 sounds amazing with no clipping and the auto audition with the click and drag to now...

Best Way to BOOST Volume For Solos

Does this affect the dreaded RED clip light of doom! I spend more time going through every part of my chain to balance and turn levels down, adjust input/output settings etc... it's crazy! I'm sure this would all be a lot easier if I was an Axe FX genius like some guys but sadly I'm not.

Come on guys...it can't be this complicated. The Axe FX will almost launch the friggin' space shuttle so to easily boost our solo's in a mid to high gain preset should be a simple thing to do w/o such deep editing!! IMO :numbness:

OK so I have been using filters in scenes for solo boost in the past which i find can be a pain but it does work. Now I think I might try a Mission volume pedal the VM 1 I think it is, to just increase overall output volume during a solo and then back it down to my needed/typical rhythm volume...

13.0 Frozen w/ axe edit 3.04 - communication timeout (FIXED)

I have only timed out once so far but I have also noticed a bit of stuttering and quick sound interruptions when using axe edit and using the pause feature, it's a bit buggy right now but I'm sure it will get fixed. :D

EtherCon RJ45 Connector Plug?

So I talked to Brad at BestTronics this week and he said there has been a bit of confusion on this cable so if you want to use the sturdier EtherCon cable and you have an updated MFC with the silver clip and circle on the ethernet port......but....your Axe FX only has the straight ethernet port...

Exactly...only that "shield" does you no good w/o an adapter on the Axe FX - MFC port. That's my point. I would say it's more important to have the EtherCon ring fit the MFC side like it does but both sides are definitely ideal!

Yep looks like that cable would work fine but on the Axe Fx side the cable is still not as connected and solid like it is on the MFC side. Faslink will solve this issue whenever that adapter is available...:fatigue:

I have an MFC Mark III. What I did not realize is that on the MFC side the EtherCon plugs in beautifully, however on the back of the Axe FX as shown in the pic here, it looks like I need an adapter. I ordered a standard Ethernet cable from BestTronics when I ordered the MFC and that works great...

Matrix NL12 - as good as a 2x12??

The NL212 is amazing, you will not be disappointed, perfect weight and size and you don't have to mess with any speaker/mic combinations with your axe fx, lets me just concentrate on my amps, effects, and scenes. For volume it will crank, my drummer is always complaining I'm too...

MFC help needed

My MFC should be here any day now but I'm curious how you current MFC users that like to use Scenes, set up your MFC? I will mostly use the first 6 or so presets and usually scenes 1-3 on each preset and that's it. Are there any set up ideas for this? Thanks!

Does the Ethercon cable require any adapters? Here is what the Best-Tronics website says about the Ethercon cable: "High quality stage-worthy cable with a male EtherCon at both ends. Use with RJ45 coupler or your own panel mount EtherCon jacks." Just making sure I understand this Ethercon set...

I have read through the new MFC MK III manual and I don't see that it ships with any cables. I guess a standard Ethernet cable works and the EtherCon is recommended which can be bought online. So, what specifically is different about the EtherCon? For the Mark III is looks like we will need to...

Thanks...I'm tweaking levels on everything, it's getting more balanced the more I work at it. I tend to play pretty loud and I seem to try to have my levels set so that I don't usually push the Output Level 1 dial on the Axe it's self past 12:00. When playing at your loudest where do you leave...

I've see a few places where this is briefly mentioned online, but I was hoping to better understand the purpose of the Bypass setting that each effect in the Axe II has i.e. Mute, Thru, Mute FX Out/In etc. I roll through the different settings in various presets I have created and do not notice...

So are you working on an edited version where we can see the screen and the preset settings? I wanted to better understand the section where he was using the pitch blocks to create that huge stereo tone that did have a nice Van Halen tone to it. Anyone catch the details on that?

I was curious if any Axe II users here are using the EB Volume Jr with their MFC? Is it possible to use the Volume Jr as an expression pedal or just as its intended volume control? I know Mission pedals are the way to go but I am trying to decide how much I really need one. Thx!
