What gauge strings are you guys using for drop C

I just tried 12-52, although the 52 felt good, the rest of the string went into finger chew mode, so i guess i must at 11's

I was at that concert in Brisbane at the eatons hills hotel, some weird stuff happened, nothing of any significance, got a selfie with the bass player only thing i would complain about his the vocals where very down in the mix

using a filter block to find frequencies

All parametric eq's work the same However, if your trying to locate an artifact or something, or range in-particular, you could just record something in your DAW as well With a parametric EQ in the axefx, use say band 3, Widen the Q (Width), raise the Gain on that band, sweep the frequencies...

I know the axeFx/axeEdit is funny with inferior usb cables, im not sure what the issue is, but ive had to switch cables once or twice, it definitely doesn't like an un-powered usb hub i have It maybe somethign with the driver not liking lower bandwidth or something, or flakey connections

Taming high gain "hiss" without losing treble.

Yeah, PEQ is a great tool for this, widen the Q, move through the frequencies until you have accentuated the sound, dial in the Q, then drop it out, you could do this in your daw, then apply it in your chain when you have found it, that's presuming its not too wide band

I'm concerned that updates are getting a bit out of control

The AxeFx has been one of the best value for money pieces of musical equipment i have ever bought, followed shortly by a 2$ string winder i bought 15 years ago Fractal cant do anything wrong from my perspective, and i will praise and be loyal to the brand until something catastrophic changes...

A band i'm in has prearranged audio snippets for a couple of legacy songs, ie radio talk and bits and pieces, i don't want to use a pc, or carry around an expensive synth I'm envisaging a device that can take a bunch of audio snippets, and can be fired via midi commands via the mastermind GT...

I agree with most of people have said, however ill add this (and i don't want it to come of as the wrong way, i respect you guys) My mate uses an XT and an X3, one my band uses a stage source mixer As for the pedals they are 10 kinds crap rolled in to 1, as for the mixer, its all gimmic yeah...

Is there any legit reasons why only playing in one key on every song is a bad idea?

There is no harmonic minor key per se, as Key usually refers to the tonic i.e it dosent describe anything else, however you could debate that, as we usually say, in the key of C <add scale description here> There is a harmonic minor scale though ;) 1. Ionian .......... 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 2...
