Just used some patch cables and have gotten a signal. Still has a pretty major buzz, but maybe humbusters would fix that. I wonder if this is an equivelant to those cables in my local store, so I could return them easily if they didn't work?

Yes I do have the plastic Jack's and am using an fx loop block. I guess I was hoping that there was some setting that I was missing in the ax8 that might help, but I don't think that's the case. I'll post on the fender site and see if anyone has had the same issue. Thanks guys

Well worth the money just for the organization of the presets, but man do they sound good too. This is the way the axe should be shipped stock. Honestly the best money i've spent on this thing since I bought it five years ago.

When trying to dial in an authentic amp tone, how important is the type of reverb you use? I know that Fender's use a spring reverb, and to my ear, a little bit seems necessary to catch that authentic sound. What about other amps with onboard reverb? Is spring the best match for them as well...

Thanks for info on pots. My PRS and Strat have really good range but my Les Paul is horrible. Definitely changing them out.

This is probably common knowledge to most of you, but for the noobs like myself, use your onboard controls more. I have recently learned that to dial in almost every sound I like, I have to make it 10-15 percent harsher than I would usually want it and dial it back with my volume and treble...

Noob gig setup question.

Thanks for the replies. Are powered monitors better than using a power amp and passive monitors? I f you do something like an open mic, do you usually just patch the axe directly into their pa system?

I have been an axe2 user for a couple of years but have only played in my condo with headphones or small monitors. I would like to get out and jam/gig a bit, but am not sure the best (economical and compact) way to go about this. I have read everything i can find in this forum and am even more...

How do YOU dial in a preset? Share your tips and tricks.

Use your ears and not your eyes to dial in patches. Probably the most important thing that I have learned on this forum.
