Connectivity issues Axe-Fx Standard and Behringer FCB1010

You will have to troubleshoot this to see where the actual problem lies. This will mean testing each part of the midi signal chain to eliminate what is working correctly. Can you try the FCB1010 with another midi device? Have you tried changing the midi cable to make sure it's not that that's...

    Standard/ultra replacement display

A bit of a long shot but it might be worth opening up the Axe and gently removing the ribbon cable that connects the display to the main board, spray a small amount of switch cleaner (Servisol or similar) onto the pins and into the sockets and re-fit the cable (gently so as not to bend the...

Axe FX 2 to Focusrite scarlett

If you're using an XLR to XLR cable then the Focusrite will default its input to mic level automatically. You need to use either a jack to jack or XLR to jack cable, or alternatively SPDIF to SPDIF (if your Focusrite has and SPDIF input).

    Axe edit and Ultra

I could never get the final version of Axe Edit to work with my Ultra (firmware 11). It would lock up and cause all sorts of problems. I eventually downgraded to version 0.9.191 beta and it worked perfectly. I still use my Ultra as a back up (have a II now) and still use that Axe Edit version...

    Ultra and FCB1010

Hi, I use an FCB with an Ultra and an Axe 2 and I can tell you that it will not do what you're asking in it's standard form. If you want to have more flexibility and easier programming, buy an Uno chip and fit that. It will allow you to use the FCB in stompbox mode so either the lower 5...

    Sigh... gig failure.

I've had an Ultra for about 5 or 6 years and got an Axe II Mk 1 about two years ago. Both purchased used. Never had the slightest problem with the Ultra and I still use it regularly in my home studio and for gigs. I did, however, have a few issues with the Axe II. When I got it, it was on...

    axe fx ultra buzzing/output problem

Might be worth taking the top off and making sure all the cables and, especially the ribbon cable, are properly seated. If you're confident to do it, detach the ribbon cable and spray both the plug and socket with some contact cleaner then re-attach. I had a (different) problem with my AFX II...

Looking for a way to use my monitors to get sound from my computer AND from Ultra

Plug your monitors into the M-Audio interface and connect to your pc via usb. You should be able to play music files from your pc. Connect a jack to jack lead from the output of your Ultra to the line input on your interface and you should then be able to hear your guitar through your monitors...

Need Help On Power Amps and Cabs

I've used my Ultra with a Rocktron Velocity 300, a Matrix GT1000FX and a Mesa 2:90 into two 2x12 cabs for live gigs and band practice. All of them were loud enough to cut through a loud band and all sounded good with the Ultra. I like the Mesa best with that rig so that's the set up I mostly...

    Axe-edit for Ultra

Not sure what you're trying to do here but, assuming you're trying to load IR's to the Ultra's user slots? First of all, you'll need some 3rd party IR's. There are lots available for free from Redwirez, Ownhammer, etc. You can also buy packs from these and other companies (including Fractal)...

    Axe-edit for Ultra

You need to use the final beta version of Axe Edit. Anything beyond version 1 is unstable with the Ultra. Not everyone has problems but most do. Look for a thread in this section of the forum entitled 'what do I need to do' (or similar). The second post has a link to legacy versions of Axe Edit.

Axe Edit stopped working? (ultra) HELP!!!

If I understand your post, you had a working version of Axe Edit that's stopped working all of a sudden? Did you install any new software? If so, there's probably a conflict between a couple of files. Either that or one of the files in Axe Edit has corrupted. Try uninstalling all versions of...

    connecting to computer

TBH I've never used one. I bought a Tascam ages ago to connect to my daw so when I needed a usb to midi for various bits of gear, it was there. I have seen dozens of posts on various forums about people not being able to transfer sysex files using cheap links. To the OP - By all means try a...

    connecting to computer

You need a midi to usb interface because the Ultra doesn't have a usb port. Avoid the really cheap Chinese jobs from e-Bay and get something like a midisport or, if you'd find a more comprehensive interface useful, a Tascam US-122 or similar.

First gig using a MidiBuddy controller

Very difficult to better the Behringer FCB1010 (especially with the uno chip) at that price point. Very solid build - I gigged mine for 8 years and never had a problem. You say you have no use for two expression pedals. So you're not likely to need a volume pedal, wah, whammy, control over...

    AXEFX STANDARD MIDI THRU??

Midi thru; is effectively another midi 'out' so doesn't work for what you want to do. The Thru port carries an unadulterated midi signal from any midi device in front of your Standard (ie your GCP) for any pc or cc commands that you want to remain the same. The midi out port can have had the...

    Restoring System Backup

I'm using the final beta version as the one you have constantly froze my PC but if that version works OK for you then no reason to stop using it. I have to admit that I've never thought about saving global settings as some of them might be altered depending on the circumstances (e.g. altering...

    Restoring System Backup

The final beta version of Axe Edit is the most stable with the Ultra (if you don't have it, run a search here and you'll get several links). Once you have it up and running on your computer and your Ultra is connected, you can save individual presets or entire banks to your computer and...

No, the Ultra will deliver a line level signal to the fx return of your amp whereas your guitar puts out a much lower level signal.

Ultra will not connect to mac

The problem's got to be with your usb to midi interface then. I've never had an issue with mine (Tascam US-122) but there have been a lot of forum posts about incompatibility issues, particularly with cheap ones.

Ultra will not connect to mac

This is good advice. Uninstall the version(s) you have and try 191. If you're still having issues, uninstall that and load one of the older beta versions. I use a Windows pc too so there's a limit to how much I can help. When I got my Ultra, I found that the '1' versions of Axe Edit froze my pc...

Ultra will not connect to mac

AFAIK the latest version of Axe Edit only works with the Axe 2. I don't use a Mac but I found that none of the version 1 Axe Edits; worked with my Ultra. I had to load a late beta version which works fine. I'd give that a try if I were you.

mint axe-fx ultra on the way!

By all accounts the Ultra can be fussy about usb to midi interfaces so you may want to try something else. I already had a Tascam US122 which works fine. I did find that any version 1 of Axe Edit froze my pc and/or failed to 'see' the Ultra. Mazzith is right - try the last beta version, it works...

mint axe-fx ultra on the way!

It's a real shame you've had such a negative experience. It's so disappointing when you're really looking forward to getting a new piece of gear and it all goes sour. I really hope things turn out ok for you.

To Floor Control or not to floor control....

+1 on the Behringer, especially with the Un0 chip fitted. The FCB1010 also has two relay switches that can be assigned to any patch switch. Unless your amp has a complex switching arrangement (in which case you'll need something like a Voodoo Labs Control Switcher) the two relays ought to be...

    Need help with installing firmware.....

Is there any reason for you not to use Axe Edit? You can't use the new version but some of the older ones work fine with the Ultra. I found that v.1 froze my pc but the previous beta version works perfectly. You'll need a usb to midi cable. There are plenty of recommendations on here and other...

Only one side of output 1 working after damage on flight

Most airline baggage handlers have a complete disregard for the luggage they handle so if you're flying with expensive rack gear, it might be worth investing in a proper, shock resistant rack case. They're expensive but provide the best protection for your gear. The problem: with the Ultra's...

Pairing a Line 6 Pod XT Pro with an Axe FX Standard

I haven't used a Pod xt Pro in a while but it should be fairly easy to set up programs and IA's to control the Pod in a similar way to your Axe. You should spend some time setting up the Pod, separate from the Axe, to get your patches sorted out, then compare the two and try and dial the Pod in...

I want to add tubes to my signal. Talk me in or out of this--need experiences

A while ago, when I was using inferior modelling gear to my Ultra, I often used a Blackstar HT Boost pedal to warm up the sound. The Blackstar is a valve powered boost pedal with high and low outputs. The high is mainly for driving the front end of an amp but the low just adds a bit of valve...

    Axe-FX Ultra + FCB1010 issue

The FCB1010 can't send a bank up or down command with one of its patch foot switches so it's unlikely that's the cause. It's interesting that you say turning the Axe on/off cures the problem. I'd suspect there's something not right with the Axe rather than a fault with the FCB. I can't think...

What PC MIDI interface are you using for ULTRA ?

I use a Mk 1 Tascam US-122 which I've had for years. It's a bit more than just a USB to midi interface but it's connected every piece of midi gear to the PC that I've tried it with. This includes Line 6 Pod 2. Behringer V-Amp Pro, Digitech Genesis 3 and 2112, Rocktron Voodu Valve and Prophesy...

    Thank you!

Just bought a used Ultra and, whilst I'm fairly experienced with modelers, preamps, etc., I'm just starting my Axe FX journey. I thought the best way to get familiar with the unit was to check out some presets, modify them and then make some of my own. This part of the forum is an amazing...
