Hi Cliff, The IIC+ and IIC++ have different tapers. Do they have different input EQs too ? Thanks Cliff.

Amp block : Choosing preamp section type and poweramp section type…

… just like we do with the tonestack type. Finding a good high gain tone with an amp is a question of balancing the amount of distorsion/compression coming from the preamp and the one coming the poweramp. When I tweak an amp, I often think it would be cool to test new flavours using a specific...

    Very long IRs

Hi, Will the Axe III be able to load very long IRs such as Reverb IRs ? If yes, what would be the maximum length ? Thanks.

Is the presence knob a gain control in IIC+(+)

Hi, On the Mark IIC+(+), B, M, T are gain controls as they are located pre distorsion but what about the presence knob ? Presence knob is usually present at poweramp stage but not always (for example Triaxis). Thanks.

Frenquency range of the Tone Match block

Hi, When the Axe FX computes the frequency analysis, it show two graphs but there is no lables on x and y axis. What is exactly the frequency range on the x axis ? I think the graduations on the y axis depend on the situation but is there a maximum level range ? Thanks.

    IIC+, GEQ and coupling capacitor

Hi, Found in the Mesa Mark V manual : "... In our endless comparisons of many original II C+’s - both EQ and non-EQ samples - alongside this golden reference, we discovered that I wasn’t just Tone-dreaming. There was actually a difference between the EQ model and those non-EQ models. It all...

    Amp types

Hi, There's a message from Cliff where he says there is roughly seven amp types. I can't find this message again. I remember that in this message he also says the Kemper is able to identify five of these types. For each of these seven amp types, someone could give the leader of this type ...

HH V800 vs Matrix GT1000 FX

Hi, I have the opportunity to buy a HH V800 solid state poweramp for 250 euros (less than 250$). The problem is I can't play it with my Axe FX because the seller is too far. I know lots of guitarists used or are still using it because it's a great amp and some say it sounds like a tube...

Simulating dynamic presence or dynamic depth

Hi, The dynamic presence (and dynamic depth) are great parameters in the amp block. I would like to use such a feature without using an amp block (because I'm using external devices or whatever). How can I simulate it ? Is it possible to use a filter or a an eq block with some enveloppe...

Which version (A or B) of the Mesa Boogie Mark IV in the Axe

There are 6 sims of the Mesa Boogie Mark IV in the Axe. I love them and use them 50 % of the time. For each sim, I would like to know which version (A or B) it comes from. Thanks.

Reverb on Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ and Mark IV

I would like to know how to simulate the reverb knob of the Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ and Mark IV. What settings of the reverb block would you use to simulate the behaviour of this particular knob ? I use my ears to try to do it but I am not happy with the result. I need some advice. Thanks.

Using a different power amp section

With real tube amps, I have already heard guitarists telling that they use sometimes a specific power amp section (tubes) not the one present in their head. For example, an IIC+ preamp section plugged into a JCM 800 Power amp section. Was it a practice very well spread in the past ? Today ? If...

I’m a big fan of FAS Modern amp blocks. The FAS Modern III is really awesome !!! Cliff, what is your secret formula about the conception of this amp block. On what preamp and power amp sections is it based ? Existing ones ? Modified ones ? Which ones ? Recto only ? Thank you.

Is Steve Vai the best ambassador for Fractal Audio Systems ?

Go directly from 2 minutes to 3 minutes and 20 seconds : Steve Vai talks Jimmy Page, Jimi Hendrix, Devin Townsend, Frank Zappa, and Joe Satriani - YouTube Steve should be rewarded for this by putting the Carvin Legacy 3 head into the Axe FX II, shouldn't he ?

    User Amp Models

I am particularly interested in this and I think a lot of people will be too. I have several questions : 1/ Will this "computer utility" be integrated to Axe Edit or will it be a standalone program ? 2/ What kind of possibilities will users have ? -Possibility to build an amp block with a...

Three amps in the same preset

Hi, I would like to know if the Axe FX II has enough horsepower to run three (or four) amp blocks (all different or not) in the same preset at the same time with their own cab. If it has enough : -it maybe means that users can't run a lot of other blocks. -there's a technical difficulty...

    Sorting heads

Hi, About Cliff’s Notes : I can be an new Axe Fx user, I can be a sound engineer, whatever my knowledge, these information are really fantastic. Why ? They explain physics facts and how they are applied to the Axe. This demonstrates how close to reality the Axe FX is. It also gives very good...

How to choose the right amp(s)

If I want to tonematch the sound of an artist, I have to chose the right amp. If I know which amp it is, things become easy. If I haven't any clue I would like you tell how you'll pick one in the list of the Axe FX II. I wonder whether there's a way to identify the amp this artist use (frequency...
