As a stage 4 cancer survivor, I reached out to Todd upon hearing of his diagnosis and told him my story as our stories were so similar. He had so much positivity and support I was convinced he was going to beat it. I've never felt so sad for someone I didn't know. Cancer is so fucking unfair.

Translating studio near fields to frfr speakers

I love the sound I get running my ax8 and fm3 with my Genelec 1029a's but the FRFR speakers I have don't translate as well. Currently have a Matrix Q12a and Headrush 108... have also tried a Friedman ASC-12 but they don't come close. Would a CLR get me closer or is what I'm looking for not possible?

Yup, exactly what I meant. If that is by design then that's fine... I just wasn't sure if that's how its supposed to behave. @chris As far as the lag, it was slight... like when you change scenes in Ax8-Edit. It happened on any footswitch changes whether it was scene changes, IA enable/disable...

Do you guys use scenes or patches to change "channels"?

Both... depends on the scenario. Most of the time I use scenes with multiple amps and even some X/Y... there is no gap typically. I even have some patches with 2 amps running and use an expression pedal to "morph" between them.

I went through this exact scenario. All of my presets were created at low volume. I set all preset and scene volumes as close to 0.0 as possible using the built in VU meters then adjust them at rehearsal levels by ear. It's a process but there really is no easy way around it. I use some basic...

I typically don't use mic sims as the IRs I use usually have the mics "baked" in. I didn't hear much of a difference with dephase at room levels either until I tried it at rehearsal levels. Get it loud, you'll hear it!

Red Bear Picks?

yeah, $20 a pick is kind of crazy when regular picks work just fine. I did try V-picks once and loved the feel but couldn't stand the horrible chirp they give off... the was my one and only try at expensive picks.

So I finally had a chance to try it out at band levels... it can hold it's own! I was plenty loud with the ISP level at noon and the AxeFX output at ~ 9:00. This was up against another guitar player using a Live XT through a Marshall 9200 and a Bass player that thinks he's the star of the band...

Just got it so I haven't put it through the paces yet. I will try it on Friday through my Rivera 4 x 12 16 ohm cab and report back. It's rated at 180 watts (bridged mono) at 8 ohms so I believe that puts it around 90 watts @ 16 ohm. In this case, it's just for home use frfr so volume isn't...

Need a luthier recomendation in Ohio

Why not just block the FR so it acts like a hardtail? I've done a bunch of these conversions and typically, they aren't worth the effort. I no longer do them and will usually recommend getting a new guitar. I do understand the attachment and sentimental value of a guitar and I'm sure somebody...

Removing Polyurethane

I haven't found a finish I couldn't remove with a heat gun. You could try to put the body in the fridge or freezer then hit it with the heat gun... this may help the finish chip off easier.

Lag when switching presets. Can it be fixed?

Half a second? That certainly doesn't sound like the Axe. What are you using to change presets/scenes when you get that much lag? DAW? Midi controller? I use an LF+12+ and get ZERO lag on scene changes and very little, if any, on preset changes. (usually I can't even notice)

How about this... dont use a recto? Its clearly not working for you. Trust me... you'll be much happier when you start dialing in your sounds with your ears instead of by amp name.

What has been your experience with FAMC Liquid Foot LF+ MIDI Controllers?

Consistent action through all the fretboard: ANGLED NECK

Neck angle has no bearing on string action. Those guitars angle the neck due to bridge height. Some modern builders recess the TOM eliminating the need for a neck angle.

Clutch Guitar Tone?

I do a lot of Clutch and tend to use the Plexi's (50 and 100 watt). They are pretty much spot on. If you want it close, run one of these amps and do a tonematch!
