Low Stage Volume vs. Guitar Interaction

No, I haven't tried any solution yet, but I would probably want to go with something discrete on the floor to maintain a clean front line. I'm usually on vocals too so I wouldn't want too much guitar bleeding into my mic.

    Linux support?

I'm a linux guy but what I do is run linux in a VM under MacOS. That way I can have a native environment for stuff like Axe-Edit/Ableton to run in, and have my beloved linux environment too. BTW, if you go that route, skip VirtualBox and go straight to VMWare - runs much more efficiently under...

Low Stage Volume vs. Guitar Interaction

Hi everyone! I'm looking to get some opinions about something... I always play direct to FOH and monitor only through IEMs. I have always noticed that when the FOH volume is cranked (during rehearsals only), I get that special interaction between speaker and guitar. When the FOH volume drops...

How many still tweek your presets??

Since Quantum the only tweaking I do now is if I'm asked to come up with a sound that I don't already have covered in my main presets. Or sometimes I'll read about a feature I haven't played with before and will have to try it out (like De-Phase in the cab block which I just read about and will...

    5-String Banjo as Reverb

Last night I was playing through the AxeFx into a cheapo crate acoustic amp for fun and I was hearing a really sweet reverb on a patch that I didn't remember having added reverb to. It turned out that it was coming from a 5-string banjo that was sitting in front of the acoustic amp. :)...

    Matchless DC30

I also use 4x12's for everything and it sounds great to me, although I'm always wondering if I'm doing something wrong by not matching the amps to their intended cabs. Right now, I'm using this cab for pretty much everything: 055 — 4x12 PRE-ROLA 75 M160

One Amp or Many? Time to think fresh.

I play 100% in a church context. We have one engineer on staff and the rest of the FOH folks are volunteers (although very well trained). I stick to the same amp/cab for the weekend (stuck on the Two-Rock right now and can't seem to get away from it's awesomeness) and just change effects and...

    Best day of my life!

I'll be using my "Mark1" until it breaks and Fractal runs out of parts to fix it. Just sounds so good! ;) Very cool story @ProgressiveKitten! You should write a song for your grandpa and send it to him, or perform it for him if he lives close.

Any worship guitarists willing to share some presets?

I've been really digging the Two-Rock's lately into this cab: 4x12 PRE-ROLA 75 M160 (ML) It's Cab # 055 on the AxeFX II. Not sure where it is on the AX8. Memory Man (Mind Guy) delay FAS Boost Deep Space reverb for major lush ambience

AX8 - First listen for newbs like me

At home I run into a small mixer and use the mixer's headphone jack. At church we have Avioms that I plug into. I should have mentioned that this is with my AxeFX II - I don't have an AX8 (yet!).

AX8 - First listen for newbs like me

Is there a way mirror another unit?

Out of curiosity, do you use AxeEdit? With the latest firmware(s) I literally start with a new grid, add amp and appropriate cab, adjust the amp tone controls/drive/master until I'm happy with the base tone, then add a couple of effects to taste and I'm done. Lately it takes me 15min or less...

    FAS Boost

Ideal +1. I mostly use edge-of-breakup tones and like a drive pedal that pushes things just over the edge into solo territory without a major tonal difference and this drive block fits the bill perfectly! I used it at rehearsal Wed night and it was perfect. Looking forward to using it live...

David Wallimann "Secret Amp Modeler" Video

Yeah, the "software" part threw me too. As for the level indicators, he *could* just be using the FXII as an audio interface. Who knows, I guess we'll find out soon enough. :)

Could this be the AX8? Strange that I see the level indicators on the Axe FXII behind him in the video.
  33. jefflibby

    FAS Boost

I tried the FAS Boost last night and absolutely LOVE it! I love how it preserves the tone of the guitar/amp/cab and doesn't add an eq of it's own. I used to have to add a drive then tweak tone/eq to get it to have "that sound", but now I can just add drive, select "FAS Boost", and DONE!

    newb: coil tap/split coil ignorance

I just upgraded the pickups in my MIM HSS strat to Suhr V60LP's and a SSV humbucker. I had the guitar tech split the coils with a push/pull switch on the volume pot. To me the split sounds just like a single coil in the bridge and the unsplit humbucker sounds like a good screamin' 'bucker.

Pete Thorn Delay w Expression Pedal

Thanks for the help with this everybody. I was able to get my delay setup how I wanted and it worked out great this weekend! Pete Thorn Delay w Expression Pedal

I tried taking master feedback to 100% and it didn't do what I thought it should. I will admit at the time that I didn't realize that there was also a (regular?) feedback that was only set to 20%. Should I set that to 100% as well? Not sure how Master and (Regular) feedback work together.

  51. jefflibby

Pete Thorn Delay w Expression Pedal

I didn't have time to try it out before rehearsal last night. I *did* however change my patch so that the modifier controls the input gain of the delay rather than the mix and that helped a lot. I also bumped up the diffusion on my patch and that gave it more of a vibey feel and softened the...

Pete Thorn Delay w Expression Pedal

I tried a modifier on the Mstr Feedback, but rolling the feedback all the way off doesn't completely dry the signal - there is still one repeat. I tried attaching it to Mix but that doesn't quite do it either. Also, I can't seem to get my delay as rich sounding as what he has in the video.

On the following Pete Thorn video, just past 04:00 he demonstrates his delay which is controlled by an expression pedal. Help loading Presets using SysEx Librarian

I was under the impression that the preset will be saved to whatever preset # you are sitting on - as long as you are in recall mode. It seems to behave that way for me. Are you starting in recall mode and navigating to the preset you want to overwrite before sending the midi data?
