FS FS: Axe FX II (original version) $1200 + shipping (US)

Well cared for Axe FX II (original version). It lived in a rack case and only moved locally between church and home each week. No major blemishes on the front plate. Some minor scratching on the top and bottom from cables I stored in the rack. I've loaded the latest Ares firmware on it and the...

Could I give my invite link to someone else?

I realize you may not know when your finances will allow it, but if you're still interested but just can't order right now, you can sit on it. If the FM3 still has a waitlist whenever you're in a position to buy, you can use your invite at any time as long as they're in stock. I don't think...

Fantastic, @bishop5150!!! Thank you! No signal issues or anything with it? My G90 has been pretty solid as long as it's on RF1, and not too close to the router.

    Let's see those FM3 rigs!

Does anyone know if the Line6 G50 would fit under any of the boards out there? For example, the Temple 17 or mono boards? I've seen pics of the Shure GLX under it, but not sure if the G50 would have any issues. Honestly I kind of want to go with the Shure, but I've already got the G90 for my...

Headphones and Atomic CLR MkII Neo

I've got the beyerdynamic 880 headphones. Pretty sure they're 250 ohm. The headphone port can drive them as loud as I probably should listen to them, but I do have to crank it pretty far up. I'd prefer to have more headroom to drive them louder if I wanted to, but I'd imagine that much more...

Post here if you've received an invite for the Headphone Jack model!

Yeah, UPS screwed mine up too. I ordered the FC6 and FM3 together, they shipped each in their own box of course. Left Fractal together, made their stop in Chicago together, one went to St. Louis as it should have, the other seems to have gone back to New Hampshire. Thankfully the FM3 is the...

Too many amps for meaningful differences?

I've been using Fractal since 2012, and while I've learned to use it pretty well, I still find some of the detailed amp parameters overwhelming. Update to FAMC / Liquid Foot website

The 4 x 3 form factor of the LF+ 12+ has worked really well for me. I can get it and two expression pedals on a PT-2/Classic 2, whereas I'd need to go up to the 3 ft version for the FC 12 and the same two pedals. Been thinking about seeing if I can get by with the FC 6, but I did have the LF+...

I can believe it was hacked. Once. Maybe twice. But if it's still being hacked every time it goes down, he's not doing what's needed to protect it. Update to FAMC / Liquid Foot website

It's such a shame that he pulls these stunts rather than just be honest about where he's at with the company. Yes, sites do get attacked, but not with the frequency and severity he claims. Especially the sites of nearly dead small companies in a niche market like this. Unless he's just...

FAMC Liquid Foot+ Axe-Fx III support

FAMC, RJM, and perhaps some others sell boxes that can solve that problem and let you continue using a single 7 pin MIDI cable to the Axe. I think someone here was offering to build them too. FAMC's is cheaper but out of stock, but the two input version on RJM's site should work fine too. I...

It's definitely frustrating at times to be an FAMC customer. But the product really is fantastic. I've had the LF12+ since I got my Axe II back in 2012, and it's been reliable and stable for me overall. I do worry about the possibility a change in the Axe MIDI protocol might break...

https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/blog/2014/11/18/how-to-sound-like-dave-grohl-gear-guide-tips/ has some good info. Anyone out there using Axe-Fx III & LF Pro?

Unfortunately yes, that's what's missing. The LF (old and +) aren't able to read data from the Axe, so it's not going to pull in your presets automatically.

Anyone out there using Axe-Fx III & LF Pro?

I've got the LF+ 12+, which I know is different than what you have in both size and family/generation. However, I suspect the answer for yours is the same as it is for mine, which is that right now it's just a MIDI controller. It works perfectly fine as that, but doesn't show tap tempo blinks...

Axe-Fx III Firmware Version 1.13 Beta

I notice that tuner isn't listed there in the release notes. Is that in the spec as well? If not, is the plan for it to be there eventually? I do love the tuner display on the Axe III but I also miss being able to see it on the floor (through my Liquid Foot). Same question for tap tempo rate.

What do you folks do for gig SETLISTS?

I'd really like to see a feature for setlists in the Axe, including dynamic setlists that can easily be put together from the front panel to deal with scenarios where setlists are more of a single use, throwaway thing for a particular gig.

    GHOST!

I saw them this past Friday here in STL, and they sounded amazing. No gear on stage, so I can't say if they've moved to the III yet, but the tone was awesome. The expanded band sounds great. I think the third guitarist and 2nd keyboard player were added more for vocals to eliminate the vocal...

Making the Most of the FC-6?

The width is a valid concern that Rane mentioned. I've got the LF 12 as well and it fits great on a PT-2 with a mission and a fractal expression pedal. I don't have a picture handy, but I did this too. I had to get the Furman M-8x2, which is a basic power conditioner but it's only 3.75" deep. The LiveWires one I had before was too deep, though it may have been a "better" conditioner than the Merit series from Furman. But it should still be...

It doesn't support any of the two way communication integrations that it does with the II yet, but it works just fine as a MIDI controller. For example, it doesn't support displaying the tuner, but it can still activate or deactivate it. It doesn't flash the current tempo, but you can still...

    Noise when changing presets??

I get it between some presets. It's subtle and not really a big deal, but yeah, a light little mic tap is a good way to describe it. I think I occasionally heard it with the II too, but I'm getting it a bit more with the III. No looper in my presets. I haven't looked to see if there's a...

my questions about the axe 3

On factory presets, most of them are carryovers from the Axe II, with some improvements and tweaks made along the way. I like them and use them. But if you don't like them, just tweak them until you do or start from scratch. It should have zero impact on a decision whether or not to buy it.
  32. B

Axe FX III for modern church music without strymon pedals?

I get a lot of mileage at church out of the ambient factory presets. Favorites for me are Rainbow Splash, Crystal Echoes, Velvet Sun, Ganymede, and Desert Breeze.
  33. B

    2 way communication

Standard MIDI just sends a few things. It has a capability to add proprietary communication protocols to go beyond that, as long as both sides know what to do with it. The Axe III needed to change that protocol to support new features. The MFC has no room to add an additional protocol. Thus...

I'd love to see some tweaks to the designs we saw in the mockups -- or more than tweaks, actually...I'd rather have a 3 row option with 4 or 6 columns to better use floor space. But it's also quite possible the software for it just isn't ready yet. After all, Axe Edit 3 isn't ready yet and...

    FC: I/O options

I don't think the cable would be the issue, presuming the converters are on the floor unit. AES3 transmits 2 channels of uncompressed PCM audio over what's basically a high quality mic cable just fine. (Higher impedance according to the spec, but people have used mic cables.) Of course it...

Both RJM and FAMC make great products. FAMC has indeed had their issues with going dark at times, but they seem to have been more responsive lately. There's room for both in the world...let's hope they both get updated quickly for the III. Especially with the FCs taking a different design...

  41. B

    Songs and Setlists

Since the FC series will be more of a thin client, with the AIII handling the programming, will the Axe have any ability to organize presets into Songs or Setlists? It sounds like Songs may be less important given the ability to have so much more in a single preset, but it still might be useful...

    FC18 and FC21

I just want a narrower form factor, or if I'm going to take the width of the FC12, I want it to fill out the pedalboard better. So I'd vote for 3 x 6 out of these choices. By my real desire is for an FC12 that simply is 3 x 4 instead of 2 x 6.

    John petrucci straight in P.A.

Sure, makes sense. But my point is still that with all the stuff that a band like DT carts around just for show (and I'm not dismissing the value of that), if JP wanted to run through a 4x12 for what actually creates his sound, he would. Whether they're light or whether they disassemble, he's...

  55. B

    John petrucci straight in P.A.

Yeah, but a wall of fake cabs takes up far more space than a single real 4x12 that actually drives sound would. But if he's getting good sound from the 1x12s, more power to him. Just can't see the cost argument when he's carrying around multiple cabs for show.

Liquid Foot LF+ 12+ tap tempo blink

The next thing to check is what kind of cables you're using. You need a return path for things sent from the Axe to show up on the LF, and the fact that you're not getting tuner or tap tempo data coming back in but do have those enabled on the Axe makes me think you don't have a return path...

Tuning 1/2 step down without using pitch shift..?

Eb is easy. Jumping from E down to C (or lower) on the other hand, it's harder to remember what each one should be. I've always used a chromatic tuner, so I'm used to just counting the half steps down as I drop it, but sometimes I do "miss" and have a note off a half step.
