Will there be FM3 Mini ? Fractal answer to the new Kemper Profiler Player

Have you ever tried to haul everything to the gig on your back? The guitar, cables, costumes, merch, wireless system, FM3 etc ? Here in Ukraine that's how we do live gigs. If you've tried this at least once - I'm sure you would be on my side. Of course FM3 by itself is OK in weight. But it's...

Kemper Player is out, so pretty much all the competition now has a mini 3 button product… still no Fractal FM3 Lite???

FM3 may be the best affordable modeller, but it's not lightweight by today's standards. Almost any other new modeller weights less than FM3 by great degree. Still really want to buy FM3 Mini or something like that for grab-and-go purposes. Kemper Profile Player may be the way to go, but I would...

Will there be FM3 Mini ? Fractal answer to the new Kemper Profiler Player

Kemper just released Profiler Player: https://www.kemper-amps.com/products/ua/profiler-player.html It's really small and portable and weight is 1,1Kg. Really looks like ultimate solution for really portable one-in-one rig. But I love Fractal and used Fractal stuff for years, so don't want to...

    FM3 Firmware Version 4.00

Just want to thank Fractal and Cliff for this great update! My FM3 sounded fantastic, but now it is even greater! The best sound I ever had from any rig. Thank you!

Wireless System from Guitar to FM3

X2 XDS95. Best cheap wireless ever in my opinion. Never had even a single problem with it for 12 years of usage. Can not notice difference to a good cable with it too.

Is there any way to save state of FM3 zoom/layout/block/tab selections which was used last time?

Sad to hear this... it could be saved just like any other Global Settings in FM3.

Thanks! But what about Zoom setting in Layout view and FC Layout selection ? Can it be saved somehow too ?

Is there any way to save state of FM3 zoom/layout/block/tab selections which was used last time?

Thanks, I will try it. But Amp block was only example. Maybe I will be using any other block and want it to be opened after FM3 is turned off and on again.

Is there any way to save state of FM3 zoom/layout/block/tab selections which was used last time?

Hello! I've checked manual but haven't found any info regarding this. Is it possible to get FM3 to remember settings which it was set last time I played it ? I'm talking about: Zoom setting in Layout view FC Layout selection position of cursor(block selection rectangle) in Layout view Tab...

Why Fractal don't use aluminium for product chassis ?

Weight of FM3 is OK if you take only it with you to the trip. The problem is that you'll NEVER take FM3 alone. You always have your guitar, bag with clothes, other equipment etc, etc. And when you carry all your stuff by yourself - each kilogram matters. Don't suggest me to get a car or taxi...

Why Fractal don't use aluminium for product chassis ?

Hello! I think only Cliff can help with that question. I was always wondering, why Fractal don't use aluminium for all their product chassis ? For example, FM3 with aluminium chassis (if it's done correctly with reinforcement ribs) could weight greatly less than current chassis and be the same...

Top 5 "Easy to get great tone" metal amps

Both. Sennheisers HD800 as headphones. And I do have studio monitors (not too fancy ones). The main problem is that I need to tweak amp models a lot to get satisfactory sound. Just want to get to some "easy" amp models.

FM3 DI Recording critical bug (recorded sound has offset when placed on track in DAW)

Yes, so it looks like problem is in FM3 driver. DAW gets info for latency compensation from device driver. In this case, this info is incorrect. I never had this kind of issue with AXE FX 2, HX Stomp or any of my other USB sound cards.
  18. M

FM3 DI Recording critical bug (recorded sound has offset when placed on track in DAW)

Then it looks like PC hardware dependent problem, because I still have this issue.
  19. M

FM3 DI Recording critical bug (recorded sound has offset when placed on track in DAW)

But somehow HX Stomp works fine without any need to set up anything in DAW. As are my other sound cards.
  20. M

FM3 DI Recording critical bug (recorded sound has offset when placed on track in DAW)

Thanks, but those kind of solutions are more like a pair of crutches, sorry. Fractal-level quality device should work without such kind of problems, that's why I created this thread - to report the problem. Problem should get it's fix.
  21. M

FM3 DI Recording critical bug (recorded sound has offset when placed on track in DAW)

Yes, I understand. But why HX Stomp works just fine without any additional settings to latency... and FM3 did not. I always thought that latency compensation is something that should work on-the-fly.

FM3 DI Recording critical bug (recorded sound has offset when placed on track in DAW)

I've started recording sessions with my new FM3 whese days. FM3 is connected to PC via USB. I monitor my guitar sound and click (coming from DAW) via FM3's headphones out. So, setup is pretty simple. What I've noticed is that all my playing I recorded looked like I was playing late to...

    FM3 Firmware Release Version 1.06

Soundcard is set to clock slave. Still clicks are present. And all this doesn't explain why there are clicks when I record via FM3 using USB (no SPDIF at all). Recorded guitar sound is full of clicks. I think it's something wrong regarding this "ASIO not active" message in FM3 control panel...

Will there be a compact floor version of Axe-Fx III ?

I hope it will be more compact than AX8, but with more features: - USB recording capability - Bluetooth wireless editing - it would be cool if Fractal even made their own wireless for guitar/bass and it's receiver is built-in into AXE FX III floor version itself, so you can just select what you...

Will there be a compact floor version of Axe-Fx III ?

Hello! Maybe Cliff will see my message and answer to this (please!). Is there a compact floor version of Axe FX III in plans ? AX-8 Price

I'm 100% sure that AXE FX 2 USB audio interface is much better quality than most of those which are on the market, and the main thing that YOU DON'T NEED one more box with you when audio interface is inside the device! Guitar, AXE, laptop = that's all. Pro recording anywhere on the planet...

Thanks for the answer! I will be really happy to see this higher-end version in the future!!

    AX-8 Price

Difficult to just pass buying the device we've been waiting for entire guitar playing life just because of this sad thing - not including audio interface. I just can't even imagine that USB recording will be removed... Hoped for the 1800 price, and it'll be just fine.
  38. M

    AX-8 Price

I've also dreamed about guitar + AX8 + laptop rig because of it's total portability and no limits in everything else. AX-8 Price

Cliff, is it possible to send guitar direct-track to SPDIF together with processed track somehow ? Or only processed stereo track is sent to SPDIF ?
  40. M

    AX-8 Price

If AX8 doesn't have USB audio interface - I hope Fractal will produce AX16 (or something) someday. Same size, all features of AXE FX 2 and price the same or more than XL+ (because foot controller is built-in). That what I will buy in a blink of an eye.
  41. M

    AX-8 Price

That is exactly what I wanted to say. I don't know why everybody are raving about AX8's low price. For me, if device has everything I need - I buy it no matter the cost. If it doesn't have all I need - I'll pass. Audio interface (or at least ability to get guitar direct-track from SPDIF...

SPDIF is not guarantee that it is possible to get direct-signal of guitar from it for re-amping because as far as I know - SPDIF is stereo out. So all you get is stereo processed signal, no direct guitar signal. Maybe I'm wrong. Still waiting for OFFICIAL confirmation that AX8 will not have USB...
  43. M

    AX-8 Price

I'm also interested in audio interface availability in AX8. It's critically important for me. If it is not included - I still wonder if it possible to get direct track and processed track from SPDIF simultaneously. I really need the re-amping.

    Ready for the Amp Show

It is also interesing to know the detailed list of features and nuances which are taken away from AX8 compared to AXE FX II. I'm aware only about these two: - Only one amp block per preset, not two. - Synth block removed.

Why don't just use two Tiger Sharks and create AX8 which will be full-featured AxeFX2 in floor format ? Wow!! Really cool news, Cliff!!! Are there any information about dimensions and weight of the AX8 ? I'm really curious about that.
  51. M

    I know it's been asked-but AX8-

Will AX8 include at least some simple digital connections except USB? It will be really cool if SPDIF output will not be removed... Even very old guitar processors like Johnson J-Station has it onboard. Cliff, please, leave it unremoved.

    AX8 - Any Updates?

Yes, you are right. This weight topic is done already.
  53. M

    AX8 - Any Updates?

About transformers, DSP power etc - just open your AXE 2 and see what's inside. You will be surprised to see just few small PCBs. And any modern latest smartphone has CPUs which are faster than AXE's CPUs. So, it IS possible to make AXE smaller and lighter.
  54. M

    AX8 - Any Updates?

Over the quality - no. Light and quality - great!
  55. M

    AX8 - Any Updates?

Yes, that would be cool)) But iPhone apps doesn't sound as good as AXE :-) I just can't understand why everybody think it should be a choosing between "best sound but heavy" and "not to good sound but light"? It is POSSIBLE to do "best sound and lightweight"!
  56. M

    AX8 - Any Updates?

Haha :) Actually, Line6 stuff is quite heavy too. Take a POD HD500 and walk with it, guitar, bag of cables etc for about 3-4 kilometers through the city by foot. Especially at hot summer day :)
  57. M

    AX8 - Any Updates?

I think 3-4kg is ideal weight for AX8. And I'm sure this is possible even without titanium. Steel chassis of quite thin steel (much thinner than AXE FX 2's chassis), but reinforced inside by reinforcement plates. It still will be indestructible. And I think anyone who don't care about weight...

  60. M

    AX8 - Any Updates?

Agree that carrying AX8 is an advantage over carrying AXE 2 or regular rig of amps and pedals. But why should it be just advantage if it could be GREAT advantage ? Why are you not looking even beyond that ? AX8 is not the only thing you take with on rehearsal or gig. You still carry your guitar...

I play often and understand what are you talking about. But always there is a degree, above which there is no need to improve durability. AX8 - Any Updates?

Just tired of moving racks for my entire playing life... First it was rack with tube preamp and effect processor - quite heavy to travel with it. Then it is AXE FX2 - still heavy to take with you everywhere. And finally AX8 is coming - I hope it will give total freedom a-la "put it in your...

    AX8 - Any Updates?

"Everyone wants it to be as light as possible" - not sure about this. But for example 10 lbs...

Everyone who don't care about weight - doesn't carry gear by hand. You guys do have cars I think. AX8 - Any Updates?

    Nice joke :-))))))
  70. M

    AX8 - Any Updates?

I don't think that titanium chassis will add much cost to AX8, especially when we know this is not cheap piece of gear. But if it still be steel - costs can be even cut down a bit if thinner steel will be used for chassis.
  71. M

    AX8 - Any Updates?

That means you are not carrying gear with you on tours, I guess. When touring - weight of every piece of equipment is important. For home or studio use - I agree, weight is not important, as is durability. For stationary use I think regular AXE FX 2 is better than AX8.
  72. M

    AX8 - Any Updates?

Thanks for info. I still hope AX8 will be 8 lbs max... the lighter - the better.

Nice to hear you have the same opinion as I am. Yes, I think durable AND lightweight - is the best solution to keep everyone happy.
  75. M

    AX8 - Any Updates?

AXE FX 2 has unnecessary weight, that's why I worry about AX8 weight. AXE FX 2 could be made of aluminium, not steel - that would hugely decrease it's mass. It sits in rack cases in 95% of situations, so why make such durable and heavy steel chassis ? AX8 should be durable because it is a thing...

    AX8 - Any Updates?

I'm visiting gym regularly. Anyway, huge and heavy AXE FX 2 in rack case - is not something you are really happy to carry by hand for long distances. 77. M

    AX8 - Any Updates?

"why is the weight such an important factor to you?" - because I'm walking to my rehearsal place about 2 kilometers by foot, carrying AXE FX 2 in a rack case - believe me, it is not what I really happy to do, especially when I know that there are 2-3 tiny PCBs inside that huge chassis I'm...
  78. M

    AX8 - Any Updates?

Bullet proof and lightweight CAN be delivered at once - if it will be titanium chassis. Even if it will be steel - thinner steel than rack AXE FX 2 chassis is still more than enough to live happily in any live or road situations. By the way, AX8 is made for rehearsal or small club live...
  79. M

    AX8 - Any Updates?

I don't want indestructible, I want portable :-) I'm very kind to my equipment and babying it all the time. Don't understand why AX8 should be made of tank-like thick steel. It is made for making music, not for war. By the way, titanium chassis is the answer if it need to be light and robust.
