Studio Monitors w/ Axe-FX II - Plug in back or thru computer?

I run my Axe direct to the monitors when playing it solo. When recording, I prefer to track at 44.1K, so I run the line outs into the back of my DAW interface and run that USB into the computer (using the interface to connect to my headphones and the studio monitors).

Call me silly, but I kinda like noise. It is an essential tone quality in an authentic guitar/amp relationship. The instant I plug a guitar into an amp, it comes alive. Hum has its place as well, IMO.

Frustrated to the point of putting it all for sale

I found it to be a pretty simple set-up. Don't overcomplicate things. Just the presets alone are plenty to get you up and running for playing out. Are you using Axe Edit? I can't do anything from the little screen, way too complicated for myself, while Axe Edit makes setting up patches...

I haven't seen much mention of the Euro Uber. The gain on that thing with my Strat is crazy. I might try to use it for recording something. It truly is unlike any of the other amps in the Axe.

I agree about getting good sounds from all the amps. One thing I've found is it is important to listen carefully to how the amp sounds when you first bring it up. It is easy to let your ears do the tweaking and end up with a lot of stuff that sounds the same! The Friedman BE is awesome...

I'll bet the X.01's are at least as critical if not moreso than the "whole number" releases. No matter how much Beta testing you put the thing through, the odd bugs are bound to jump out when some thousands of people start using it.

Where do you set tone controls that are not on the original amp if you don't want them to to influence the original tone. Like, say, the mid, presence and depth controls for the Prince Tone (which has none of these on the original amp). Some different than others (such as mid 5, presence 0)?

My thoughts on V6 Clean Fender and Mesa's

I was using it last night, and spent some time with the AC15 sim. It sounds exactly like a Vox amp. Definitely more chime than the previous version. All the amps are more distinctive. Great upgrade!

V6: Presets don't sound great == FRFR Monitors aren't great?

Also, I read that it is advisable to use a single coil pickup for auditioning the presets, I think this point gets glossed over. I think the presets are great, a bunch of different amps and cabs already preprogrammed and set up for fine tuning by me.

Try loading the Fender sim, then changing to the next preset up manually with the large dial, and then return to the Fender sim to see if it resolves.

Yes, and if I then load the preset from inside of axe edit, using the axe fx as the bank file source it plays normally. Also, changing the preset on the axe fx hardware with the dial and then returning to the Bassman preset appears to remedy the fault.

My Fender Sims are sounding sweet. I grew up (from age 12) with a '65 Fender Strat and a Princeton Reverb, so this is the one combination of which I KNOW the sound. This one in the box is the real deal.

Video tutorial on loading the new V5 preset banks on to your Axe FX

This is just brilliant. Winging it, I downloaded and unzipped the preset banks, got as far as moving the banks to where they live on my drive, and got lost after that. I came straight over here and in two seconds found Manny's Vid, did the deed and I'm all set. I'm still waiting for the maker...

After several hours I finally tried using ASIO4ALL instead of the Axe Fx II for my Audio Engine and it worked. Weird. Probably perfectly logical somehow, too. It's not like I know what I'm doing!

I'm thinking it's something simple that I am missing in ProTools, I hooked up my Focusrite 2i2 interface, and I am not getting anything through it either, but I am able record it as well as the Axe using Sony SF. I've also asked on the Avid forum, with no luck so far, I might add.

So, I'm all set up for working in my modest home studio with PT sampling at 44.1 k forever, and in now selecting the Axe FX II as my Audio Engine, 48 k appears to be my only option. What does this mean? Do I have to discard what I've done so far with Asio4all at 44.1 k or convert files to 48 k...

I was wondering about this, so you are saying that the RW FF's will not work in the II without conversion? I've been thinking about getting the Big Box collection...

Hey Scott, I received some constructive criticism about my tones and I think it has to do with my recorded signal sounding too "direct." Can you say a few words about the cab block room parameters, I was playing around with them and got it sounding better by setting room level around 50%...

Bassy distortion when I palm mute my guitar w distorted patch, but not when strummed

Sometimes I reduce the gain a bit, which will work as well.
