    Sysex checksum for entire preset

The formula to calculate the checksum for each Sysex message is documented and easy enough. But how is the checksum for an entire preset calculated? It's a 16-bit word (in 3 MIDI bytes) at the final Sysex message at the end of each preset. It's obviously not the same as the message Sysex, since...

    AX8 PC Bank Select

NM. I see there's a MIDI setting in each preset which chooses the MIDI PC. Not sure if that's for send AND receive or just send, but I'll figure it out. Annoying that every one is defaulted to PC 0 instead of the actual Bank/Preset #, but oh well...

I am trying to get 2 AX8 to follow each other's preset changes. i.e. When I select Bank 02, Preset 3 on the "Master" AX8, I want Bank 2, Preset 3 on the "Slave" AX8. Axe-Fx II or MFC-101 MIDI CC messages

Ok, so there is an "OFF" setting. This should work well! This is why I love this forum. Such great and quick help, especially when the manuals are incomplete.

Axe-Fx II or MFC-101 MIDI CC messages

In the manual it doesn't actually say it can be NONE or OFF, but I'll check on the MFC when I get a chance. If it can be NONE or OFF, then that may be the fix. Thank you.

Yea, stupidly this device responds to CC #0 (Bank Select). It's programming is fixed, other than the MIDI channel. Poor design on their part, I'm just trying to see if I can get it to work. Thank you for that information. Surprising that the Axe-FX does not send PC messages on its own... Axe-Fx II or MFC-101 MIDI CC messages

I have an Axe-FX II with a MFC-101 connected to it via CAT-5. I have MIDI Thru enabled on the Axe-FX II as I need to access the PC messages from the MFC-101. Software FracPad III - iOS/Android/Mac/Win Editor for the Axe-Fx II/XL/XL+, AX8/FX8, Axe-Fx III and FM3/FM9

I'm sure there's a thread somewhere, but a cursory search didn't bring up anything... I'm not seeing bypass states change on FracPad when they are changed on the Axe-FX II by an external controller. Is that a bug in the Axe-FX firmware as I recall Axe-Edit doesn't show bypass states when they...

So What's New on the III? ...(Axe-Fx II vs III)

Exactly. They don’t actually have an Editor anymore for the Axe-FX. (Although they did at first! I know all about the issues, so no need to go there) There are just lots of different remote controls. I sincerely hope there will be a proper editor for their flagship product.
  20. Mr.X

So What's New on the III? ...(Axe-Fx II vs III)

Ha. Other companies have been able to do this for years. I think this is the only piece of audio hardware I’ve ever seen without an offline editor, in fact. I’m sure they will have thought about how to do this properly before finishing the design.
  21. Mr.X

So What's New on the III? ...(Axe-Fx II vs III)

And..... the only question that matters.... Does the editor work off-line?
  22. Mr.X

    Routing/MIDI Question

We use the MIDI out on an Axe-FX II with the MFC-101 connected and it works fine. The MFC-101's commands get passed through to the MIDI out on the Axe-FX. Might have to check settings on the Axe-FX to enable the pass-through (can't remember if there's a setting) but it definitely works.

    FracPad/AxeFX/USB/iOS

Ok, just so I understand completely... No matter what, after powering on the Axe-FX, you first will have to connect, via hardwired USB, a PC, Mac or Android device that has the Axe-FX USB driver installed, to the Axe-FX to "push" the driver to the Axe-FX before using the UD-BT01? The BT doesn't draw enough power to keep the Halo on. The Halo is designed for charging a phone which draws a lot more power than a little BlueTooth adapter. You'll need to find a power source that doesn't "sense" the power draw to turn itself on and off.

It's a well-documented fact in the computer/audio industry that you should never use the M-Audio drivers for the 2x2 or Uno. The Windows drivers work just fine, whereas the M-Audio ones, well, don't. A good general rule for anything is to start with the MS-supplied Windows drivers if they're...

How to pan in ear monitors with axe fx?

It's pretty normal in wireless systems to lose a little bit of stereo width, but it's unnoticeable in practical applications. The max. separation on the Carvins is 35db, which is only about 2% bleed between channels.

Sounds like your receiver is in Stereo Mode, but your transmitter is still in Mono mode. Check page 7 of your manual, and look at the front screen on your transmitter. The Same Old Midi Download Issues Every Time........

I don't see how the problems you are having are related to the Axe-FX or MFC. The USB connector on the Axe-FX is just a MIDI to USB adapter that doubles as an Audio to USB adapter. No different than your external USB to MIDI adapter, with all the same conveniences as well as issues. If you would...
  70. Mr.X

Does anyone know anything about the USB driver?

Axe-Edit can work over the MIDI connections as well as USB, (I've tested this) so you may be doing this in a harder way than you have to. Get an iConnectMIDI4+ or a Kiss-Box and a cheap AP. Install RTP-MIDI on your computer, configure it and Axe-Edit to use RTP-MIDI and away you go.

I know that (for some reason) firmware for the USB port on the Axe-FX gets loaded to the USB hardware in the Axe-FX when you plug it into a Windows machine or Mac. Axe Edit to Axe-Change
