Gosh, the jcm800 is just fantastic! Otherwise, for more modern sounds, I use the Uberschall!

Light wgt 4 space rack cases

The Gator Rack Bags are wooden, certain models use an aluminum frame as well, but lack real lids (if that bothers you, enough protection for my uses though), and the Axe II is a little of a tight fit (Standard and ultra are fine)

How is it routed? don't route it in parallel if you don't want the original note played.

Pitch shifted signal sounds muffled and warbles WTF?

I always thought the pitch shifters in the Axe (The standard at least) were great for a unit that doesn't do pitch shifting exlusively. Did you set that pitch tracking parameter all the way up? I get warbles like that if I don't do that.

Why wouldn't a soundman want to let you run your signal direct?

I come across old school guys with great mics to use on stage, and they're very used to it. I tell these guys I'm running a midi/synth guitar setup so I need to go direct, haha.

    Inexpensive/Budget Power Amp Recommendations?

Hey Vocalists... Anyone have experience with live pitch correction?

I use a voicelive correct XT with the pitch correction set at the "sweet spot" which is a very slight correction. I still hit sour notes now and then, but no one notices for the most part. Recently I've just shut it off and used the auto eq/anti feedback and it's a great pedal even if I only...

Anyone try running their Axe into the loop of a Carvin legacy or a JSX?

Sorry, the majority of amps you will run into have no master after the loop. That's what the knob on the axe Fx is for. All an effects loop level is, is an input attenuator, works the same way as the output knob on the Axe Fx. The Carvin can also switch between different tubes. Either way, I...

Anyone try running their Axe into the loop of a Carvin legacy or a JSX?

Yes! The Carvin is fairly clean, the the JSX has more of a mid range bump. Actually, both amps are killer with the Axe in 4CM! They will both color the sound, but the Carvin will color it less.

    Recording (actual) drums

I like the Audix stuff, lots of love. If you can't get any SM81's ($349) new, the ADX 51 ($219) is a nice copy. Phantom power for all midi pedals?

Not a problem. I have one 5-7 pin wired up with a male adaptor in the end. the Rocktron does not have the two pins for midi send from the Axe Fx Midi In wired though, although the wires are there. You can open up that connector and just solder in the two extra wires in the cable though.

Axe FX II, Liquid Foot Jr Editor not recognizing the LF

If you have a 5 pin and 7 pin cable to use the LF editor, make sure the MIDI IN switch is off on the LF. Other wise you have TWO streams of midi in data coming in to the LF Jr. Also, I believe you need to set the sysex id to 127. Are you on a Mac or PC? If mac, you need mandolane to get...

    Behringer FCB1010 quick question...

I don't think that is the issue. The Eurekaprom does not have the programming to parse the effects states from the axe fx. Help with adding a piezo to my Les Paul

This is possible with the quickswitch. I can't say if it works with the fishman or LR Baggs stuff, but my strat can use either a stereo cable OR a mono cable. With a mono cable I can blend both signals, or just have one or the other.

Help with adding a piezo to my Les Paul

Ghost is an active system with a preamp. The first system where I don't hear that "quack" from the strings. The switch is sort of like a mixer. Help with adding a piezo to my Les Paul

I installed the Ghost System on a LP for a customer. The only difficult part was that I had to drill a hole to pass the piezo wires from the bridge to the guitar cavity, and the new groundwire to the tailpiece. With the ghost system, if you use a mono cable, you have the piezo and magnetic...

Question regarding Carvin power amp in bridge mode.

Question regarding Carvin power amp in bridge mode.

On dual banana plugs there is a tab On one side. It says COM, for ground. The MF one has it. You don't need a multimeter to check polarity either. Just unscrew the collar on the 1/4" side and look where the orange and blue wires are attached. Tip is positive, big lug is ground.
  41. R

Question regarding Carvin power amp in bridge mode.

Yes, make sure you are using the right speaker posts. I believe the carvin has 1/4" output connectors as well, so if you are using those, I think the output 1 channel is what you need to use.

I have a Crown XLS1000 that I'm using with my Standard. Not bad at all! Nice highpass/low pass filters built in! Not as good as the matrix, but definitely a nice, lightweight poweramp! Plus it lights up blue and you can see the inside of the amp, haha!

But you can go to guitar center or a sam ash...

Thinking of installing a headphone amp to AXE FX. Any suggestions?

Thinking of installing a headphone amp to AXE FX. Any suggestions?

Axe Fx has both balanced and unbalanced outputs on output 1. one set of unbalanced outputs on output 2. If you wanted to monitor your recording, wouldn't you go with the interface/computer headphone out, so you could hear everything else like the click track/drums/etc?

    FRFR Coax monitor opinion

Yes yes! But there are powered speakers that do NOT have an active crossover, just a passive crossover after the amp, or NO crossover at all and just piezo tweeters. 56. R

    FRFR Coax monitor opinion

Generally, I consider "powered" speakers like powered monitors. Speakerboxes with ONE amp built in, and a passive crossover, like the Kustoms and the Behringer F1220A wedges. Of course, it's all been through the marketing machine, so I apologize if it doesn't even matter anymore, haha.
  57. R

    FRFR Coax monitor opinion

According to Sound on Sound magazine way back, maybe 2002-2003, that's the distinction. Although, an active speaker is still a powered speaker, haha. Active/Passive switch means you are selecting whether you are using the PASSIVE built-in crossover in the speaker, or an active crossover...

    Best PASSIVE FRFR? (Axe-Fest Attendees?)

  59. R

    FRFR Coax monitor opinion

"Active" is used in a sense of biamped after an active crossover, not active as in powered. Just like the difference between "powered" speakers and "Active" speakers. Active speakers feature two amps and an active crossover, while powered speakers are single amped with a passive crossover, like...
  60. R

    FRFR Coax monitor opinion

On the same page linked in the OP it notes the nominal impedance, or "Ohms". You won't see that if it's active/powered. A sure fire sign is that it has Speakon NL4 Connectors. It's practically guaranteed that it's passive if it has speakon connectors.

  63. R

    jbl jrx100

I didn't like them. MDF and poor crossover (harsh sounding), not to mention it's a JRX line. I would recommend the EV EL112 passive cabinet actually. Wood enclosure, lighter, just sounds better! inexpensive too! The 100 will work, but for not much money, the EV's are a nice step up.

What's a good choice for a very bare bones midi controller

They can read the sysex data as formatted by the Axe Fx. That was specifically programmed into the LF. It's like MIDI: sending a value of 128 to CC#15 will do different things on different midi devices. Just because the Rocktron all access can send sysex data, doesn't mean it can decode the...

Phantom Power Jack: RJM pedal only needs 200mA, is it safe to use 2500mA adapter?

Yes. 2500mA is what it's capable of providing, but not what it always provides. The pedal will pull what it needs from the power adapter, kind of like a car engine. It may be rated capable of producing 300hp, but it doesn't mean it's providing 300hp all the time.
  78. R

At Venue with Soundguy: What reactions have you had regarding stereo setup?

definitely bring a male XLR-TRS converter. Not every place has a board that doesn't accept line level inputs for the XLR inputs. This way, you can still run with XLR's if the board is capable, but most likely you can have the sound guy repatch that one channel real quick.
