Thanks @sluice - your answer really helps. I’ve tried dialing in a tone with the friedman BE and my usa strat - got close, but there’s something missing still. It makes sense that hos signature guitar gets you there way faster and easier... still a great tone though and I’m having fun playing...

Triple Crest and Nick Johnston

Funny you should mention this, I've had a quick go at it recently and cannot feel I can recreate his sound on my strat using the the Triple Crest as well with the settings I've seen him play live. Guess that just goes to show you that the settings on the AXE really are not exactly like the ones...

Can't make a choice

I personally waited for the MKII for 2 reasons: 1) Didn't have the money when the MKI came around 2) My Axe FX II was an MKI and I just LOATHED having to overwrite factory presets. I know it sounds strange to some, but I love going back to the factory presets now on my MKII AND still have more...

^^This I got the 3 about 2 months ago since I knew it was wit the Mark II - it was released not that long ago. If you get one now, you won't regret it. And it WILL become legacy - that's just how technology works. So it's not about the product you own, but about the one you own WHEN you own it...

If it helps to the discussion, I'm having an issue where with some custom bought presets I can't get them to load into the Axe3 (Mark II, using MacOS and latest FW, as well as latest Axe-Edit version). Some presets will load fine (and also others from AxeChange), but some specific ones I can't...

Great going and good for you for getting the axe! Id say to spend some time with and see how it works out for you. Ypu may well realize that its so much easier to set up and carry than an amp and that the sound quality is so close that you not miss your tube amps for a while ... ;)

As soon as I read Queens, I was hoping for some QOTSA kind of sound/recording. It wasn't... But I was not disappointed! I like the fact that it's instrumental and that you can mix some spacey qualities if the guitars (with help of the reverb) with some more in your face riffing! Nicely done. :)

If you're talking about the factory presets, there's always a set that Cliff releases for each version, altough I am not sure if that's the case for the last FW. If you haven't updated in a while. I'd download the latest factory updated patches and update. That way you can make sure you have the...

Not really no... I'm just too busy haling my 2 rack gear from one palce to another, getting used to having the same consistent tone night after night without too much hassle and then taking the time it used to haul my gear back in the truck to have a beer instead. They actually make me smile ;)
