Hit a brick wall with rhythm tone.

The Mesa Mark IV gets a lot of its gain from the Treble control (the tone controls are early on in the signal chain). When I use these amps I have my Treble a fair bit higher than I would on other high gain amps... usually around 8 or so. Bass way down... between 1 and 2... and mids around...

My drop tuned guitar doesn't sound great thru Axe II

I use the very same ESP with EMG's. The reason a tube screamer (TS808, or the like) is so widely used in modern down tuned metal, is because of the tone shaping it provides to the guitar signal prior to hitting the amps pre-amp... namely, cutting highs and lows and giving a healthy mid range...

    problems with factory presets

Just for the sake of some perspective... that's pretty much exactly how my guitar sounds through the Badger 18 factory preset (#68). I have v10 and v10 presets loaded. The vast majority of them sound fantastic... and get even better with minor amp style tweaks (in other words, I'm not delving...

  7. 3Dhuman

    "Fizz is Good"

I was going to say the exact same thing. Also, the gain is fairly high in that preset... lowering the gain will give you a tone more suitable for muted down stroking.

Question regarding the Soldano SLO 100 and Depth knob...

With all the talk about balls, shitty or otherwise... Though I've never really paid much attention to this amp prior to v10, over the last few days (and nights) I've been all over it like a shit-hawk. For my purposes, it is simply destroying me in the best possible way. But, a question... does anyone know if the Depth control on the Axe models...

I agree. I'm having a blast going through all the high gain amps that for whatever reason just didn't seem to work for me in previous FW's. Last night I revisited the Soldano. HOLY CRAP! It may now be my new high gain masterpiece. In fact... and given how MIMIC has rendered a 'what you hear is...

    V10 HIGH GAIN REVIEW

I'm using the factory Uber T75+V30 cab in stereo with a 57 and R121. I tend to go with whatever matched cab the particular amp designer suggests so I can get an idea of what the amp is 'supposed' to sound like before I start messing with other options. Works for me.
  16. 3Dhuman

    Recto sound, tweaking!

That's just kinda how recto's are. Keeping the Gain and Bass low and hitting the front end with a clean boost of some sort is the easiest tried and tested method I know of to tighten the low end. I also like to run my Master quite high (5 to 6 range) as I like the power amp distortion on them...

Question of proper AXE EQ values for amps that don't have them

I think that any tone controls that don't exist on the actual amp are to be left at 5 to replicate their non-existence... except presence/depth, which would be left on zero.

    V10 HIGH GAIN REVIEW

I couldn't agree more! The high gainers sound huge... the new cab IR's are fantastic... even the old one's somehow sound better. Really? I (along with many other users) think it's one of the best high gain amps on the whole Axe. Similar to a Recto but with more manageable low end and mid range bitey-ness. Help with Axe FX ultra electric noise.

If it's EMF and changing your location within the building is not helping, then, I'm sorry to say... you're hooped. EMF is everywhere... and, short of building yourself a Faraday Cage, there's little that can be done about it. Such is the price of living in the modern world.

It's not so much want or need of someone's patch... but...

AXE Edit died, and i cant live without it!

Agreed. It's much faster using the rotary encoders to change settings. I don't use Axe Edit very often... might be the reason I've not had any problems with the unit (compared to issues some other users are experiencing). The only time it ever 'froze' was when I was using Axe Edit. The only wish...
