He was specifically referencing 10,000 Days. Undertow was only a Super Bass. Aenima may have been a blend of dual rectifier and super bass. He didn't start using the VH4 until Lateralus. At some point it all gets really confusing, what with the band outright lying during interviews about gear...

Agreed. Adam's tone on that album just kills. However... who knows really, how much of that tone is REALLY Joe Barresi, and how much is Adam Jones. The interviews with Barresi indicate that no less than 3 amps were used in conjunction at all times, and several of the amps used are not in Adam...

The thing is, when we get big overhauls on modeling features like this the FAS amps get better too. They aren't "impossible" amps. They just use modeled circuits and components that would cost insane amounts to build in the physical world.

Considering the whole point of the axe-fx II is to emulate valve amplifiers, accuracy is pretty important. As it stands, there are plenty of things you can do with the axe-fx II to make it sound completely unlike any amplifier on the planet. There's already a selection switch for authentic/ideal...

Right. I remember that for sure. But didn't Cliff pretty much say we've reached the max for how we can expect the drives to behave on the whole? I thought it still had something to do with the input a/d conversion. Are you simulating a buffer in the axe, or are you talking real world amps...

I seem to remember FAS indicating that there are certain elements to drive/amp interaction that just can't be modeled as technology currently stands. I may be incorrect but I'm almost certain that's the case.

I'm curious how this 3.0 stuff will work on the FAS models, since I do tend to gravitate toward those for a lot of my high gain tones. The idea of having a high gain rhythm amp as flexible and finely honed as FAS Modern being sputtering and nasty is an intriguing prospect, for sure.

I use this amp all the time in my bass chain. It's got really sweet lows, so I blend it with another amp for grit and my bass is punchy as all Hell. It's not bass players fault they are afraid of the axe fx. They ate twice the luddites that guitarists ate and have half the money. LOL

I was just dialing in a stoner metal tone with the citrus terrier early this morning. Within a day or two I will make up a similar one with the rockerverb and post a mic'ed recording.

Who reckons their s.state power amp gives the same 'punch' as..

New convert over to the Matrix GT1000fx from a Mesa 290. The Mesa 290 was really a great power amp, and had a great sound. The Matrix works so much better for me, though. I have full control over my sound. I don't feel like I'm fighting anything to dial in sounds I want - like a fixed depth...

I gotcha. I should probably note I play pretty heavy music - not metal but very heavy rock. I was thinking of getting a Gallien-Krueger 410sbx because it's cheap as Hell - like $250. My buddy in a doom metal group says it's not loud enough for his applications though. Then again ... It's doom...

So if I'm reading it right, it's fifine to do it, but the question becomes whether or not it will be loud enough at the flickering point to provide stage volume. I know a couple guys have talked about running bass rigs with the matrix. I think maybe @jimfist talked about it at some point...

See, this is where I get confused. People run 212 cabs with Vintage 30s in stereo mode all the time. That's a cab rated at 120 watts being run at 300 watts. The explanation I have seen is that the power of a solid state amp is not like the power of a tube amp. So basically, the ss is equivalent...

Hey folks, So I've got the Matrix coming in this Friday, and I've got a pretty good price on a 400 watt 8 ohm cab. I'm thinking in this case I would run the Matrix in bridged mono. Or would that be too much power? Or still too little?

Reamping Kemper using the Axe Fx II within Cubase 7

What about running the kemper in the effects loop of the axe? I have no idea if it would work because I have no idea what the connections with the kemper are like.

Crunch parameter

I know it has to do with preamp breakup. Just crank it up and it becomes very audibly apparent what it's doing. I do like a bit of it here ava there. Combined with speaker drive and motor drive it add a bitof that oomph I like to hear in high gain stuff.
