I have used ownhammer for years and they are great, but I would say York audio is just as high quality and it is just preferred flavors between the two. I go back and forth. Hope it helps!

I have been retired for 25 years now. Currently 52 years old. Strongest suggestion is find something you love that pays back in a rewarding way. I dedicate much of my time to charities I believe in. That last thing you want to do is stop working all together. Hope it helps.

I have the Basswood version in curly maple. A friend has the Ash version, and I feel they sound very very similar. I like the curly maple top the best, unless you can find the “Britannica“ top that looks like an old book. That thing is beautiful but good luck finding one!!

Yep, the LXII works the same way, it’s neutral until you engage the presence and/or depth controls and then it’s more of a regular power amp with expected color. Friedman Support talk a lot about the benifits and intention of these different Friedman units over on theGearPage.

I separate FRFR and Amp and Cab completely. When you use an IR, the microphone is baked into it. So FRFR does miked up amp in the next room perfectly, and I love that! Tube amp power and cab takes the microphone and IR completely out of the equation, and let’s the speaker do what a speaker...

I have my old AxeFX II to running through a Bose sound dock. I connect the headphones out to the auxiliary in and it works great! You can also run Bluetooth from your phone at the same time for backing tracks etc…

I would buy that S2 594 and change the pickups to something you like. Amazing options for Les Paul pickups these days. Bare Knuckle Black Dog/Mule combo being a Very good one. Other then the pickups the S2 is not much different then my 594 core for much less money.

AF3 with tube power amp and cab

Fryette isn’t breaking up in the way you want it to so leave Power amp modeling engaged. I use the Fryette LXII and it’s meant to be transparent so amp modeling is always left on. If you like the sound (and it’s more accurate to the amp model) don’t question it. 😁👍🏻

Wish ‘MIDI learn’ for knobs

I'm hoping to control Axe Edit for building presets. This would be the only time I have the controller on my desk hooked up to my computer and I much prefer the tactile feeling of turning the knobs on the midi surface over the mouse movements when dialing in tones.

Best Power Amp & Cab for Axe-Fx III

I would agree with all of this but I would use the Fryette LX II instead of their power station. I would definitely check that amp out if you’re used to playing traditional rigs.

Exactly, I told you it was brought up forever ago! 😂 It had come up a couple of times and Cliff wasn’t opposed to the idea if I remember correctly. He had said that he’s been considering something like that but I don’t think he ever got time to implement it. Cool idea for the DIY crowd!
